Quitting my job to spend time working on myself
I moved here ten years ago as a result of a traumatic brain injury, needless to say my experience so far has been lonely and tumultuous. I’m trying to change that. I know people can and do love this place so I am making a serious effort to attend various events and to experience this town for what it has to offer. I’m posting here in hopes people can key me in on free activities locals enjoy, bonus points if there’s a social aspect. I can’t drink or anything like that so bars are kind of out of the picture for right now. I work Thursday-Sunday on ten hour shifts until I quit my job in September to focus solely on living my life, getting back in shape, getting good grades in college, etc.
Thank you!
Am I singing this correctly? The song is “Ne Otverzhi Mene” by Chesnokov
I don’t have any way to check note accuracy. I’m trying very hard to get it right though
Moving up in my industry
I’ve been a cook for fourteen years and am trying to land a salary job for the first time. I’ve held supervisory positions before, briefly. I am going to college for business and am a member of the honors society which is reflected on my resume. I also have a culinary arts certificate. The problem is that I have been applying for sous chef jobs all week and have yet to hear back from even one of them. My profile has been viewed quite a few times yet there are no texts or messages. The only jobs available are in Seattle but I have expressed my willingness to relocate. If anyone has advice for landing a first time salary job please let me know, I have been working towards this for a long time and just feel completely lost
Trying to lose 75 pounds of fat
I gained a lot of weight in the past two years and now have a belly along with unfavorable flabby pecs. I used to be in great shape I just got out of control when I stopped smoking weed, replacing it with meals. I’m not currently gaining any more weight which is good but I want to lose what I’ve gained and put on some muscle in it’s place. I just joined a gym and I have devoted myself to working my upper body one day, and my lower body the next while doing one hour on the stationary bike both days. I may be able to schedule even more days but I’m unsure right now how that will look. My question is, is this going to provide measurable progress six months in? I want to be in better shape than I was before but first I need to lose all this weight, so my goal is to simply lose 75 pounds in six months. Any advice is appreciated. I am a chef so I have the meal aspect dialed in
Cost analysis for mechanic visit (2005 Chevrolet Aveo 145,000 miles)
I need to get my car looked at by a mechanic to see if it will make it driving 150 miles a day five times a week. I’m already leaning towards believing it won’t. The car makes a soft chugging sound when running. My friend who is a mechanic looked at it and said “it’s in good condition considering it was $900” but didn’t have any input on whether it would make it to and from Seattle even once. The commute is through a bunch of wilderness on a highway so breaking down could leave me severely stranded. It is a 4cylinder. I just need to know how much it will cost to have a mechanic look at it
Got invited to join Phi Theta Kappa today
My cumulative GPA is 4.0. I am 30 years old so I thought my grades would reflect that, but I have managed to do well so far. I’m really happy about joining and just wanted to share that.
How to maintain Pitch consistency in the lower register
When I sing low, I’ve noticed that my pitch wavers a lot and I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on how to maintain a more solid tone. For reference, this is “Ne Otverzhi Mene” by Chesnokov
I’m in love with this song and style
I have such a love/hate relationship with singing. I do my best and think I’m making great progress, then I play back the recording and it’s just horrible. I’m unsure what to do but to keep practicing. I am so jealous of people whose tessitura resides in the higher octaves. So many of my favorite songs are so bright and live in the fourth octave. I can get up there but sustaining brightness and staying up high is my biggest challenge. Every once in a while I wish I was a tenor. But at the end of the day I am who I am, and I can’t change that. Here’s to hoping that practice will bring my brighter, higher octave work into a more pleasing tone. For now I will stick to the bass and baritone works that have been working well for me. Cheers
Training into the higher register (5th octave)
My usable range is Eb2-D5 and I’m trying to flesh out the higher register. I’ve heard the term “head voice” a lot and am curious how to unlock that. My falsetto starts at C5 because my highest belt is B4. I want to sing some repertoire that’s higher up and was hoping someone here could help me figure it out. Falsetto is great but I want to really resonate in the fifth octave.
Does anyone have advice for better high notes and stronger vibrato? I am trying to get this aria down and am struggling a bit
Below is a video of an Aria I’ve been practicing. It’s come a long way but there’s a ways to go. Does anyone have advice for getting better high notes? For instance, am I flat or sharp there? I also notice a lack of vibrato as I go up in pitch. Does anyone have an idea why?

reddit.comHeadaches occurring at orgasm with consistency over the course of two weeks
These are intense headaches always occurring right at the moment of orgasm. They are mostly on the right side of my head, but are very severe. I’ve been taking Advil to deal with it but it is unbearable and affecting my life greatly. I take a few medications, the main one being Zyprexa and I’ve never had issues with it before. I recently started trazodone as well but stopped after the headaches started. They did not go away. I’m worried this might be something very serious and am planning on going to the hospital, but due to the amount of time I have to spend doing other things it will be a while until I’m there. I’m posting here in hopes someone can give me an educated guess about what’s happening to me and what may be the cause. They started on a day that was very hot, and I work in a kitchen, so I thought that it was heat stroke but it’s been occurring every time, even when I spend most of my time somewhere cool.
Thanks for any help that you may be able to give me. I’m genuinely concerned for my health right now
I wanted to share this. I am a bass-baritone so it was very difficult to do. Unfortunately it took a few takes so I started to strain a bit on this recording but my goal was not to lose power on the high bits.
I know there’s room for improvement and I’m certain not everyone will enjoy listening to my voice. I’m not here trying to get a bunch of upvotes or comments telling me how great I am etc. I am here because I really love singing and something I love is sharing my progress with others. I don’t have bandmates to jam with unfortunately so my only option is karaoke or this. Due to a mandate from court, I’m no longer allowed to be within a bar. Not even for karaoke. I tried it and almost got in a bunch of trouble.
Anyways, thanks for listening and of course if you have advice then go ahead and list it. Just please be cordial, I’m not here to compete with anyone I just want to share my cover that I made
