Do yourself a favour and play it in Quality mode

I usually play most of my games on Performance mode, but this game (Sinking City 2) is so blurry. I don’t know the exact internal resolution metrics, but it has to be pretty low. The performance was solid, but felt like I couldn’t appreciate the details and it was harming my experience.

Switched to Quality mode and the difference was night and day. Felt like someone wiped the smudge off my glasses. It felt terrible at first but after half hour my eyes got used it, and it’s definitely my preferred way of playing right now.

I am on Base PS5 btw, but I hear there are no enhancements for the Pro anyways.

Warning: Be wary of Gameshort.in

I purchased a preowned Dualshock 3 from them a week back for 1299/-. They delivered the controller, but the buttons on the D-pad were not working properly. I reached out to them and they were said they were happy to provide replacement if I shipped the product back to them. But I pushed back, saying since the issue was with their product they should arrange a return pickup. After that they asked me to provide video evidence of the issue, which I did. After that they went silent for a complete week, while I was chasing them with no response. Finally, today they came back saying, they can’t find any issue in the video and denied any replacement/refund. Now I am stuck with this controller that’s not working properly.

Please do not buy from them ever. Their customer support very unresponsive and unacceptable. Better to stick with Gameloot/Gamenation, their customer service although not perfect is light years ahead of this.

Unable to play purchased movie Alien (1979)

I purchased this movie 2 years ago. Now I am unable to play this on my Apple TV app either on my iPhone or iPad. There’s no option! Screenshot attached for reference. I see that the movie is also removed from the store. I don’t know what’s going on, is this subreddit the right place to even seek help for this.

My Xbox Series X is my PS3/360 Machine

Unfortunately PS5 is only backwards compatible till PS4. Hence, got an XBOX Series X just for backwards compatibility and have already built a sizeable library during sales. Which underrated 360/original games am I missing out on.

What improvements are we looking at in the PS4/5 version

I am at work and can’t wait to get home and start downloading these asap. Can anyone tell me what improvements we are looking at compared to the 360/ps3 version. Is it just a Resolution boost?

Interested in buying PS5 Slim box only

I purchased a preowned PS5 Slim from Gameloot a while back but it didn’t come with the official box. Let me know if someone is willing to part with their original box (if it’s in great condition). It should include everything the original box had except the PS5, controller and the cables of course. I can pay 500/-.

I am in Pune, near Hinjewadi area. Please DM me if interested.

Is there a digital purchase game that has been removed from download in the PS3-PS5 era.

So, I’m obviously worried after the news from Sony that they are stopping production of physical discs. I have a huge collection of PS3-PS5 discs, and I’m worried those PS4, PS5 games will be backwards compatible with PS6 (most likely not). What I’m wondering now is that has there ever been a game that you have purchased but it’s not available to download anymore? I don’t mean games that are no longer sold on digital storefronts due to rights issue. But specifically games that you have purchased but can’t download anymore.

Nothing comes to mind except PT (but I don’t know if that can be considered as something you’ve paid for). If that’s the case then it gives me at least some confidence to start a digital collection on PS6.

For those who have played on PS5

For those who have played the opening level on base PS5, could you tell what’s the performance like? Is it a stable 60fps like the Digital foundry video?

What to do with an unused Xbox Series S?

I have an XBOX Series S which is not in use anymore (upgraded to Series X). What's the best course of action for this device. Below are some of the use cases I could think of but each one has a limitation that prohibits it from being fully realised -

  1. Emulation of older games - I really want to do this, however I have a Mac and don't have a Windows PC to set this up. All the guides I have seen need you to have a Windows PC.
  2. Use it on a bedroom TV - I just have the one TV and Series X connected to that.
  3. Use it while travelling - With a small size, it's a perfect companion for travelling. However, I much prefer to travel with my Switch 2 as there's no dependency on a TV/monitor.
  4. Donate it to a Cousin - I do have a cousin who's 12 years old and into gaming. But his mom quickly shot down down the idea as she doesn't want it to distract from his studies.
  5. Use it as a media hub - Again, already have Series X connected to the TV. Also have Apple TV 4k which is imo the best for this use case.
  6. Resell it - It was actually a birthday gift from my sister, so I’m not sure it’d feel right to sell it.

I'm open to any ideas and suggestions. Sorry if this is a weird post and not allowed in this sub.

Edit- I am getting a lot of heat for this. I wrote down the above use cases that I could think of off the top my of my head. Unfortunately, these are not possible for me at the moment. With this post I was looking for suggestions outside of these 6 points. Sorry, I should have worded the post better.

Gaming has plenty of diverse protagonists now but where are the female middle aged ones ?

I was playing Saros this weekend and it got me thinking of Returnal. Such an amazing game and not just for the gameplay and story but also unique for starring a middle aged female protagonist. It just occurred to me that apart from Returnal, I don’t think I have seen any game featuring a middle aged female protagonist (at least 35+). And I mean not just playable for a segment, but the protagonist of the whole game.

There are plenty of games featuring younger women (TLOU 2, Horizon, Forspoken, Tomb Raider, RE, LiS), young men (most of the JRPGs, Spider-Man, Zelda, Bully), middle aged/older men (TLOU, RDR, GTA V, Max Payne, COD).

This is just off the top of my head. What do you think. Am I missing anything?
