here's a poem I really liked, by Wendy Cope. I'm reading it right now to calm down. we YES WE are all getting our courses!

The Orange

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—
They got quarters and I had a half.

And that orange, it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I’m glad I exist.

[Loved Trope] Unaware ordinary animals having to face off against the horrific monsters newly introduced in the setting

The Silence (2019): Sound-sensitive monster bats have suddenly appeared and are killing everybody. There is a scene in which the protagonists have to crawl through a tunnel. An ordinary snake begins stalking them but is suddenly killed by the monsters.

A Quiet Place: Day One: Again, sound-sensitive monsters have suddenly appeared and are killing anything that makes a sound. In a chaotic scene where they attack, the main character's cat starts chasing a mouse, both of them being completely unaware of the real danger.

Two units I think would be cool additions to the game: the Jouster and the Geisha

Firstly, the Jouster would obviously be heavy cavalry similar to an Elmetti. Their gimmick would be being a "counter-hussar", meaning they counter what heavy cav normally counters, while also countering other heavy cav, similar to how counter skirms and counter dragoons work. This'd fit them as historically jousters beat other cavalry opponents. I think a charge ability would suit them well.

For availability, I think Brits and French should both have a card that enables them in stables. Or maybe they'd be a better fit as mercenaries.

Secondly, the Geisha would be an absolutely nonsense but fun mix of a spy, a priest and a griot. Can go stealth and has huge multipliers against explorers and mercenaries like regular spies, but is also able to heal units and boost production rates of buildings by playing her shamisen.

Geishas would obviously be a Japanese exclusive. She would be trainable at the monastery, at the consulate if Isolation is picked, and by Daimyos and the Shogun. She'd cost no pop but have a build limit.

What do you all think of these two units?

It'll all be okay

I'm going to stay completely nonchalant about it because I know if I think about it I will vomit. What has everyone been doing this summer?

something people need to keep in mind when discussing player count

the player count posts I see on this sub are talking exclusively about steam users. I'm a microsoft store player that plays the game thanks to xbox gamepass pc. I know a lot of microsoft store players as well so whenever discussing player counts ppl need to keep in mind that total players are probably a lot higher than they appear if u just look at the steam player count.

do organ guns deserve a nerf?

rhetorical question, YES THEY do. please for the love of God, the fact that you can monocomp ARTILLERY and get away with it is ridiculous. It's just insane how easily they destroy huge groups OF THEIR OWN COUNTERS. Maybe keep their damage but make them more expensive and give them a HUGE negative multiplier against heavy cav at the very minimum. you could literally have your entire composition be hussars and culverins and you'll still have a hard time dealing with these.

Ireland should be a revolt for the brits

Idk why it isn't already. When they sat around discussing what recognisable nations were formed after declaring independence from the UK did they really think of Haiti before Ireland? I think they'd be a great fit in the game and the 1798 Rebellion would be the perfect theme for an Ireland revolt.

Irish Brigadiers would be their main unit ofc, and I think a fun shipment for them would be "Choctaw Nation Support" that gives them food crates and a number of random native American units. I'm sure there's a lot more you could do with the idea of an Ireland revolt.

questions about the Voodoo Boys mission

This is my first ever blind playthrough and I just finished the Voodoo Boys mission. Due to frying my brain with youtube shorts and insta reels slop my attention span is basically completely destroyed. I decided to side with the Netwatch agent. What I'm confused about is what happens at the end of the mission when you exit cyberspace.

Brigitte and all of the VDB Netrunners are dead. Was it Alt who killed them or was it Netwatch? And what happens to the Netwatch runners in this outcome? I think I recall Alt saying she killed them? If she did, why?

Much appreciated

anyone else wish this would last a bit longer?

this summer holiday has had so many letdowns, such as the COMPLETE lack of jobs anywhere and also the impending doom of the results. but despite all the faults, I really like just getting to do my hobbyist projects I couldn't do while studying and just going out drinking with my friends. I feel like this is the only respite i'll have before college starts (if i even get accepted) then its 4 more years of the same shite....

anyone else rlly wish this'd last longer? can't believe it's already august.
