Has Regal Ever Done This To You?

Has Regal Ever Done This To You?

I always get excited when I see early morning showtimes since I'm a day sleeper and it allows me to get a double or triple feature in instead of a single. I had a nice triple all lined up for Friday when all of a sudden I get an email notification about a refund that I never requested.

I went on the app to see what was going on and this (screenshot) is what I saw. Ive had unlimited for just under a year and never had this happen. Is this a common occurrence? Did a manager just decide they didnt like the idea of getting up early?

First Haul from 88 Films (UK)

My buddy in N.Ireland has been bugging me for a while to watch Scum (1979) so I figured this would be a good time to try out 88Films. My understanding is that they use third parties to complete their restorations but they closely supervise the process. Im excited to check out this one.

They had a Chuck sale going on so figured Id also grab a few of those in honor of the legend.

The DTS:X Gap

I used to get so excited when I bought a DVD or bluray that had a DTS track. Nothing against Dolby bc they do a solid job with the audio processing. But even though it wasnt like a full on Coke vs Pepsi thing, DTS seemed much more prevalent back then than DTS:X is today. (For those who may not know, DTS:X is the DTS version of Dolby Atmos.)

I noticed my CLZ app had an audio track category so I filtered my library of over 1600 titles and I had a whopping total of...7. SEVEN out of 1600 titles had a DTS:X track. Its up to thirteen as of today since I did a quick search to find a few more to add (see photo).

When I watched those 7, I dont think I even noticed there was an X track on there, but thats gonna change. DTS used to always feel more dynamic and intense so Im curious to see if that's still the case.

Cautiously Optimistic - Iron Bisglycinate

I have had RLS since long before I even knew it was a thing. Im 53M, and theres nothing I havent tried over the past 30 years to alleviate this. I have the 24hr variety and Ive described it to my doc as a mild form of torture where youre being tickled from the inside, and theres nothing you can do to stop it.

Ive had a little improvement with magnesium threonate in recent months, but the only thing that actually got rid of it in stretches was opiates. For obvious reasons, thats not ideal.
Ive tried to tolerate iron at times, at least long enough to see if it helped, but to no avail...never noticed much difference.

I am now a little over two weeks in to a newer form called iron bisglycinate, and my symptoms are 90% improved. Im an RN and have a previous degree in Psych, so I am well aware of the placebo effect, which is why Im only cautiously optimistic.

(This next part is my personal testimonial and in no way medical advice. Consult with your doctor before starting any medications or supplements.)

I began with 25mg every other day, and Ive since ramped up to 75mg (also every other). This is where I'll stay until I get labs done in the next few weeks. Daily dosing can result in less absorption, as Im sure many of you know, and often an every other day schedule is recommended. I am careful to avoid food, calcium and caffeine for at least two hours before and two hours after the dose, and I take it along with a form of vit C. This is a pretty good routine to get the most from this supplement and so far Im honestly shocked by the improvement. I mostly bothered with it just to be able to say I tried it. I did not ever expect it to work. It is so strange to be sitting or laying down thinking I should be restless AF, but instead feeling calm and relaxed.

If Im still 90% improved after another month or two then I'll be seriously jumping for joy.

What is the oldest Bluray player you have that is still on active duty and successfully playing discs?

It just hit me this past weekend that my Sony S550 is still going strong, and it just turned 17 years old this year.

Anyone else got a grandpa player with old man strength?

I havent thought about 8track players since I was a kid. Seeing this sub and all the amazing gear and collections is amazing!

Im a 53yo GenX'er, and (sadly) my memories of this tech is almost exclusively centered on long family trips in the "woody" station wagon, circa late 70s and early 80s, where my brother and I were subjected to the never ending 8track "clicks" of Debbie Boone, John Denver, and KC and the Sunshine Band music. If those artists represent your music taste please forgive me for referring to it in a derogatory light, but these were pretty lengthy road trips with overnight stays, and it was basically a form of torture as far as Im concerned.

Seeing photos of standalone players and music that is much more my style is incredibly therapeutic! Especially whoever it was that posted that KISS Destroyer album 🤘

I really need to stay off the Kino Lorber site. These 3-film Noir box sets they've been putting out are pretty solid. This is my third one. I loved the Ninja trilogy as a kid but don't remember it well at all. Vice Squad and Pelham have been on my list a while so figured Id grab them not that they have 4k releases.

Fresh dough rolled out a bit (helps to use parchment paper with some corn meal spead out to limit sticking)

Put ingredients of your choosing on half, then fold over the other half on top.

Pinch sides together and then carefully place in air fryer.

Baste with egg wash (i beat two eggs then added a tsp of water and a melted tbsp of butter).

Air fry at 375F for 9-11 min, turn over half way (use a thin spatula to turn/flip, as the underside may be a little doughy... shout out to u/loud-chicken6046 for the reminder!)
