Worse than bubble wrap

I thought that I’d never find a frustration greater than bubble wrap. I mean, even the NTs apparently can’t pass it up… but i did. Shrink wrap. Start with brand new box for master level irritation or don’t. You do you boo. Your goal is to nest as many pieces as possible inside of other pieces… i just burnt 2 hours going beyond hyperfocusing and yes, i took my meds today. 😱

Unspoken (rather not spoken enough) truth about DEA shutdowns

Mods, please remove if this isn’t allowed but please let me know if I can do anything to the posting to make it applicable for submission.

This is a video by a rather outspoken creator on TikTok, but everything she says on here is 💯 the truth about the current state of finding medical care today in the US as a CP patient. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8sKbPEA/

Hmm

When I went from my bench room (predominately carpeted) down the hall (carpet) into the kitchen (hardwood), it sounded as if someone was trying to tap dance! Yay for shoes? Otherwise, I would have 2 rows of 16 wounds otherwise as neuropathy has taken all of my sensation from my feet. 🤔

Triad Radiology Associates Data Breach…

First off, let me just say that if you truly believe that all / any of your personal data is safe and is unexposed in some shape / way / manner….. awwww… that’s so cute ☺️ 😑

Anyways, since this is a more or less a W-S local company, I thought I’d share with y’all the nice little letter I just got from them today in the mail. TRA, in case you weren’t aware, represents and handles a lot of the billing for the radiologists associated with Novant And Atrium both as part of the hospitals as well as outpatient imaging centers such as Piedmont Imaging in Kimel Park and Maplewood Imaging. According to the letter, “one employee’s email account” began to show signs of suspicious activity and so they locked it down and started an investigation blah blah blah… if you’ve seen, heard, or been a part of one data breach you know how they spin a yarn about the company fighting the good fight but unfortunately it was too late and data was compromised.

In this instance, the data types that was involved were “first and last names, date of birth, date of service, hospital unit, physician name, medical history, condition, treatment, prescription” And yes, that quoted section is exactly how they put it on the letter… 🤔 Not exactly winning the heart of any English teachers out there… Then they go on that they’re offering the typical free 12-months of credit monitoring and state that they’ve instituted new policies, advise vigilance and to report anything suspicious to local law enforcement and/or the AG, and uh…. their bad, oops, and good luck.

I’m not 100% sure here, but where this breach involved not only the typical personally protected information involved in data breaches but also HIPAA-protected medical data… I feel like they are seriously downplaying the severity of this in the letter in the hopes that it’ll all just blow over without blowing back on them.

Additionally… their entire timeline for this is just beyond ridiculous and unacceptable. The breach happened sometime between 11Jul2025 and 30Jul2025 when the breach was suspected/noticed. Then, on 10Dec2025 an investigation confirmed the loss of data security. For some reason though… it took until 28May2026 for them to type this notification letter and send it out to me which provided me with the first word I’ve heard about this event… which occurred practically A FULL YEAR AGO!! That’s just incredulous y’all… agreed?

Trust me, I’m going to be to digging into this much deeper and l’ll let y’all know what I find out. Again, the downplayment and delay combined with the specific nature of the information involved just doesn’t feel right to me. If anyone else happens to get a similar notice from Triad Radiology…please let me know. Although they claim that it took them from Dec2025 until now for them to compile a list of those who were impacted and make it sound like I just happen to be amongst the lucky few…I kinda doubt it. This is how class-actions start off and pick up enough carnage along the way for their to actually create said class… so let me know please. Thanks and I’ll keep y’all updated.

Sorting out a little logic gap…

I’m fixing to switch my Neptune 3Max over to Klipper using a RPi4B w 8G on it. The general census seems to be that using an RPi4 is overkill which. If I’m gonna screw up in one direction or the other, that’s the direction I’d rather be in and not underkill. So the logic gap I’m catching is coming from where just about all of the documentation says if you use a Π, don’t load it up with a DE. Well, if a RPi supposedly has all of this overkill headroom, would a small DE really make that much of a difference? I mean I’m not talking about anything like hyprland. Currently, I’ve got OctoPrint on the Pi with a DE on the 3 Max and it toodles along just fine. Thoughts?

Size help

I’ve decided to go down the road of making my own keyboard (3d printing etc) but there is one spec that I’ve never really paid attention to until now… the size percentage. I’ve got a lot of Logitech and a few Microsoft keyboards but they don’t come out and say xx% (maybe the boxes did but those are long gone). Does anyone have a link, guide, or something that lists some popular keyboards and their % size? I’ve basically got a pair of meat hooks so I know I want to be on the end closer to 100% but other than that, I’m not exactly sure where I should be shooting. Thanks in advance.

Welp…

I had joined this sub a few months ago after they initially discovered a T2 non-enhancing flair and unofficially said that it might be a low-grade glioma. After the 1mo MRI, the neurologist said that it was probably just an anomalous region and most likely wasn’t a tumor although he was going to wait for the 6mo confirmation MRI before making that official. Well, I was supposed to have that 6mo MRI towards the end of the month this month and then that follow up appointment in June…although it decided it didn’t feel like waiting that long.
My wife called EMS on Sunday because I was completely somebody else and was having a 1-on-1 conversation with my dad. He passed from a massive heart attack 16 years ago now… so yeah, the attendees of my little TED talk are apparently being held in contention. I was just discharged yesterday with my primary admission diagnoses being acute and metabolic encephalopathy. They went ahead and got that brain MRI and MyBuddy(tm) is still there although it barely showed any growth in comparison to my Dec2025 scan. The tumor is in the right medial temporo-occipital region which, from my understanding (ex paramedic here too btw) tends to be THE happening place if you’re a tumor that wants to stir the pot quite heavily. If anyone is interested, I can post the measurements but the report I was just looking at didn’t repeat them.

Since when did PrimeVideo begin to be translated to ‘OnlyJeff’sSports’?

So it’s Friday evening on the east coast at 11:45p and I turn on APV cause I wanted to watch a little bit of standup. I hit my little avatar to differentiate my likes from my wife’s and from our roommate’s. Wait _XX_ seconds too long for the initial video and metadata feed to load in and begs to play and it’s smack dab in the middle of some boingaboingaball into peach basket game. This isn’t a preview or teaser/trailer either. Additionally, after another 1/4 lifetime (for some reason as it only does this BS on games) there’s no way to switch off of the game that’s easily discernible except from choosing another profile. So do we have to forcewatch Jeff’s favorite basketball teams with Prime Video or is the choice to watch what you want when you want like the Prime + 4 freedom layer fees higher now?

Since around 1630hr today (Saturday) have y’all noticed the massive number of overhead flights by V-22 Osprey’s? They have a very unique shape but the 2 wingtip rotary engine nacelles (big engine big blade) that they also rotate to transition between a helicopter-adjacent maneuver subset over to a fully forward propeller driven aircraft. The unique engines give the Oprey an extremely easy acoustic signature once you’ve put the picture and sound together. It also doesn’t hurt that they typically like to fly almost anywhere below 8,000ft. The first one around 1630 I heard it for a good 25s before I saw it, went ooh neat!, then carried on. But they have been showing up nearly every 10-25 minutes since then. While we do still have all of the various military bases way down to the east, I can’t remember when in over 50yr of living here that I’ve seen this level of overflights here… not even during the Robin Sage.

Has anyone given an external gpu connected with thunderbolt a run yet and if so, what were you using and what’d you think?

Thought I’d share a little tip with y’all that I just figured out and tested about 5m ago but never thought to try it inside of 2 decades of being a tradesman and low voltage electrical guy… I don’t know about y’all, but I’m always losing the wipe sponge even though it typically sits so nicely in that little well just below the copper wool and iron holder, at least that’s how most of the Hakko’s I’ve ever used and most Wellers were laid out. Typically, I’d swipe the wife’s “almost dead” kitchen sink sponge and cut it into that semicircle taco shape. This time however, I grabbed a brand new sponge because I wanted the best chance at proof of concept. I also made sure I got one of the two layer sponges with the yellow sponge part and the green scrubber part.

First off, I used a Dremel wire brush to remove 4 spots of paint from the elevated surfaces in the sponge well, so basically the 3 corners and then the center. Used some CA glue to glue down 4 magnets. Then (make sure your magnet polarity is right) I did a little sponge surgery and slid the complementary magnets into the layer where the two colors meet followed right behind with some more CA glue and then boom. 🤯 Yes, I know this is prolly one of the more stupid life hacks to be posted even back as far as Abe Lincoln sending out tweets back in the day but hey… I seriously wish I would have thought about doing this about 20 years ago anyways.
