My cat consistently vomiting after dental surgery, need help

Hi everyone, I really need some advice or to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar.

My cat, Rob, is FIV+. He just underwent dental surgery last Monday. Since then, I have been finding vomit with hairballs daily. Because I live in a multi-cat household, I couldn't tell who it was at first, but today I finally confirmed it’s Rob.

He has now vomited for 4 consecutive days, exactly once a day, and there is a hairball in it each time. He is still begging for food, but he is licking his lips and gagging/retching quite a bit.

I have already reached out to our vet and am currently waiting for their reply. However, I am completely broke right now and don't have the money if he needs to go back into the clinic immediately. If the vet tells me he needs emergency care, I will have to find a way to fundraise for his bills.

Has anyone else dealt with severe, consecutive daily vomiting or major hairball issues right after dental surgery, especially with an FIV+ kitty? Could the anesthesia or post-op meds have triggered this? Any advice on how to keep him stable while I wait for the vet would be so appreciated.

Help for their food and litter sand

Hey Reddit community. I wanted to give an honest update on our situation. A kind soul donated $5 toward Rob's dental surgery, which we are so thankful for!

To ensure Rob gets the rest of the medical care he desperately needs, I am redirecting the budget I usually allocate for food and daily care for my other rescues straight to his surgery fund. I am posting these photos of the rest of the colony instead of Rob today, because they are the ones directly impacted by this budget shift.

As an independent rescuer managing a large colony, pulling funds from daily care to cover a medical emergency leaves a massive gap. If you would like to support us—either by helping with Rob's remaining veterinary bill or assisting with food costs for the rest of these sweet faces—please consider donating.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

My beautiful chaos: feeding time for the rescue colony

Hi everyone. I am so incredibly grateful to report that we received our first $5 donation for Rob's upcoming dental surgery! Every single dollar helps, and it means the world to us.

However, because his dental issues are an urgent medical need and we still have a large balance to cover, he cannot wait. I have no choice but to allocate the current food and supply budget meant for my other rescue cats directly to his surgery fund.

I’m sharing photos of the rest of the crew eating today with my verification note. While Rob is the one needing the operation, the entire colony is feeling the financial strain right now.

If you can spare even a small amount to help me replenish their food budget or contribute to Rob's veterinary costs, it would keep us going. Thank you so much for looking out for them.

Potpot last GS injection for FIP

Looking back at how sick he was when we started, it feels like an absolute miracle to see him standing strong today. It wasn’t easy, and there were many tough days, but our little warrior never gave up.

Next stop: Observation phase! We’ve got this, Potpot.

“FIP is preventable, treatable, and beatable.”

[HELP] Potpot needs his LAST GS vial tomorrow + 3 upcoming Sunday vet visits

Hello everyone,

I need help getting over the finish line. Potpot has been on medication since December. Between the cost of his medication over the last 6 months and his recent dental extraction surgery, I am buried in debt. I do work, but every salary goes straight to the cats, debts and maintaining a rescue of 28 cats means there is never anything left over.

Because of this long-term financial drain, I am completely stuck for the next few days:

Tomorrow: Potpot needs his final vial.

Sunday: Two kittens have follow-up appointments, one has hernia and the other one has lump on his head

Sunday: Rob needs an urgent check-up for vomiting and dental issues.

I want so badly to celebrate Potpot finishing his treatment, but the anxiety of these compounding vet visits is heavy. If you can contribute even a small amount to help cover the final vial or Sunday's vet trip, it would mean the world to our big fur family.

Potpot’s surgery is tomorrow morning. He needs tooth extraction & post-op GS vials to prevent FIP relapse

Hi everyone, I am updating again with Potpot’s status from his vet visit today.

The vet officially assessed his teeth this afternoon, and he is scheduled to undergo his tooth extraction surgery tomorrow morning. Because his lab results showed he is still fighting active inflammation and has a low A/G ratio, continuing his GS treatment through the surgery and for 7 days post-op is absolutely mandatory to prevent an FIP relapse.

We now have the exact, locked-in breakdown of costs for tomorrow, and we need the community's help for this final hurdle.

Financial Status & Breakdown for Tomorrow:

*Remaining Balance Carried Over: ₱1,071.50 (approx. $17.65)

*Tooth Extraction Procedure: ₱5,300 including antibiotic

*Gas Anesthesia: ₱1,500

*2 Vials of GS Treatment (Post-Op Safety Net): ₱4,000

(Note: 1 vial lasts exactly 5 days, so 2 vials will perfectly cover his remaining timeline through surgery and the mandatory 7 days of post-op protection).

Total Needed for Tomorrow: ₱10,800 (Minus our ₱1,071.50 balance = ₱9,728.50 remaining target)

Potpot has fought through 84+ days of FIP treatment to get here. We are less than 24 hours away from getting his painful teeth fixed and finally keeping him safe from a relapse. Please help us hit our target before his surgery tomorrow morning! Any amount or share means everything to us. 🙏✨

UPDATE: Potpot’s exit tests are done! Clear for dental extraction + important update on his GS treatment

Hi everyone! I wanted to give a huge, heartfelt update on Potpot.

Vet Results & Next Steps:

The Good News: His exit bloodwork and X-rays are done! Potpot has been officially cleared to undergo his needed dental extraction.

The Plan: We will be transferring to a new vet clinic to perform the actual tooth extraction surgery.

GS Treatment Update: Because of the upcoming surgery, the vet advised that we cannot stop his FIP treatment just yet. To keep his immune system supported and ensure he doesn't relapse due to the stress of surgery, we must continue administering his GS injections until the extraction is done, and keep going for 7 days post-extraction before he can safely enter the official observation phase.

We are so close to the true finish line! Potpot is such a fighter.

Hi everyone, I am so incredibly proud to say that today is Potpot’s final day of GS treatment for FIP. He has fought like a champ for more than 6 months (due to relapse) to get to this finish line.

However, the final stretch is a massive financial hurdle. Today he goes in for his crucial exit vet check. He needs a CBC, Blood Chemistry panel, and an X-ray to make sure his body is ready to safely enter the observation period. (He may also need a dental extraction depending on what the vet decides later, but the bloodwork and X-ray are happening definitely).

I am completely stretched thin from the cost of his intensive care and supplies. I urgently need help covering today's baseline costs so he doesn't miss this critical window.

The Costs:

* Exit bloodwork (CBC & Bloodchem) : P2,800 or $48.28

* Xray (lateral & ventradorsal view) : P1800 or $21.03

* Dental extraction : P6,000-P15,000 or $103-$258

Mandarin's medication glow-up! Before vs. After 🍊

As you can see, the transformation has been incredible. The before-and-after says it all. Mandarin's eye looks so much healthier, and the medication is doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

Huge thank you to everyone who checked in on this little orange sweetie aka Sharmaine.
