Elopement attempt

I was just about to go in the main room when one of my coworkers told me to get help! I got someone and then ran out after the student as well. Luckily my coworker managed to get him back inside.

I was told this student elopes for attention seeking reasons. Anyone else have similar students?

Not one but two outbursts at the same time! 🫠

The students were playing just dance when one student started to sing along. This bothered another student who got mad and threw stuff on the floor.

To top it off ANOTHER student had a complete OUTBURST and started screaming really loud at the top of his lungs. The other staff members had to get him out of the room and call his dad to pick him up.

Only two more days of school left I can barely hang on

Student constantly grabs things

There’s this one student who we’ll call A. A is in a wheelchair, is non verbal and seems to have unusual eye movements. One of the things A does is grab whatever is closest to him. Today he grabbed a container and spilt the contents on the floor. He also grabbed a chair as well.

What I want to know is why he does this. Has anyone had a student who does something similar?

What do you do when a student is stubborn or hates being told no

There’s a student who we’ll call K. K is mostly nonverbal. When K wants to do something he is ADAMANT on doing it.
When a staff tells him no he has a total outburst. He also does not like being told to stop what he’s doing

Student gave another student sensory overload 🫠

I was assisting with a task called Snack Shack and one of my students who we’ll call J has issues with regulating sensory overload.

There’s another student who we’ll call G. G is non verbal and has issues with motor skills. Every morning G has trouble with transitions and walks with a para and has an issue with screaming. When G screamed J started to yell and flap his hands. I told a coworker about this and she thanked me for letting her know and told me that one of the things they work on with J is how to advocate for himself and manage his emotions.

I was also told that when J is mad he’s done some things like flip a table. How can I help J manage his anger when a student like G screams. I should also add that I’m autistic myself and struggle as well
