Oil change: maintenance minder or mileage?

I am getting conflicting info… I have a 2024 CRV and the dealer told me that I should change the oil every 5,000 miles. But the maintenance minder and Honda owners manual seem to indicate waiting until oil is at 15%.

I am getting close to 5000 miles and oil life shows 50%.

I did buy an extended warranty from this dealer and wondering if the every 5000 miles rule keeps the warranty intact.

Otherwise, I can’t get a clear answer.

Any thoughts?

Is this how it is now?

Two nights at a Hilton Garden Inn in Cleveland.

I always thought Hilton was a decent brand.

Checked in (2 rooms/2 nights): one key wasn’t working. Garbages around the property overflowing. Something spilled in the lobby with nobody cleaning it (still there the next day).

Room #1: toilet not flushing.
Room #2: tv not working.

The TVs are so old, the remote has a VCR button on it.

The wallpaper is peeling. The faucets are loose. The beds are literally worse than a motel 6.

After the first night, we come back to find the rooms were not cleaned. And we have no toilet paper, overflowing garbage. I call front desk.

Front desk: “you have to request housekeeping.”

Me: “nobody told me this and there’s no sign at check in saying that.”

Silence.

Me: “well I need toilet paper and towels.”

Ftont desk: “then you have to come down and get it. I am the only one here.”

I go down.

Front desk: “I don’t have a garbage bag.”

No apologies. No nothing.

$200 a night for what feels like I am staying at a motel 6.

The attitude from this person was despicable. She sauntered into the back and planted a roll of toilet paper in front of me and then walked away.

Customer behind me waiting to check in said: “ohhh it’s a you problem, not their fault. Right.” (Being sarcastic)

This is shameful. Is this how Hilton is now??

Ew

Flynn store. Who do I bring up the lack of cleanliness to? I never see anyone cleaning tables and the garbage is always overflowing. Second pic is behind the seat cushions and this is every booth.

Why is this locked?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Zepbound/s/rFePCyfCrC

Genuinely asking because I am starting to think the Zepbound sub is run by Eli Lilly. There is nothing wrong with this post or the comments. There’s no indication of a safety violation. If anything, the OP is painting a cautionary tale of her own behavior. She clearly doesn’t blame the medication.

I have seen any hint of any opinions that don’t line up with the echo chamber get locked or taken down. In 2024, you were aggressively told to not ever use the “c” (comppund) word on that sub. It’s like North Korea on there. What the actual fuck is happening?

The only explanation is to follow the money. Does big pharma sponsor their own subs or place plants as mods?

Will they issue any credit other than $20?

The inbound plane was late and it wasn’t weather related. My origin city was having weather, but the inbound flight with no weather was 2 hours late.

I paid for the bundle that includes free wifi, extra legroom and a checked bag. It was $55 or $60 per leg extra.

The pilot announced that instead of the airbus “with nice seats and wifi”— they sent a “rescue plane” which was an E190. Smaller (2x2) with no wifi, no charging ports, and no extra legroom.

Saw an email from Breeze about a $20 credit. I think I should be refunded pr credited the fare difference since I didn’t get what I paid for.

Will they do this or am I SOL? Doesn’t seem right.

Charged for dvr box I don’t have

I keep getting emails asking me to return a dvr or wmv box I don’t have. Chat support says just ignore. Now I get a threatening email that I will be charged for a box I don’t have. Last year, a tech came and switched all set top boxes to smaller ones and said we didn’t need to return any equipment. They would handle it. I am thinking the tech didn’t handle it. Verizon claims I have equipment that I don’t actually have.

How do I fix this? Is there a number to call? Chat has been useless

Help interpret these fibroscan results?

First time posting on this sub. My mother has cirrhosis from methotrexate use plus fatty liver. Methotrexate use was for a debilitating autoimmune condition. She’s obviously no longer on it, and she sees a hepatologist to monitor her labs, etc.

My sister also has fatty liver— diagnosed through an MRI.

Due to this, my mom’s hepatologist recommended I get a fibroscan. I have been obese most of my life. I am middle aged and have been at a healthy BMI for the last year, thanks to a GLP1 (Zepbound) and a lot of vigilance and exercise.

It took me 7 months to get the fibroscan scheduled where I live. It was a 5-minute test ordered by a PA with a GI group.

I got the results and it only shows 2 scores… no notes about the size of the liver. Is that normal?

PA put a message in the patient portal that everything looked fine. That was basically it. No other interpretation.

The scan was attached as a pdf and it showed 164 CAP and 5.3. kPa … I googled this and it appears to be in normal range but depends on the imaging, it seems.

Is there anything else the fibroscan should have shown?

I have to know

There’s a cvs I go to that is in a suburban area. No garbage can outside. None in the store. None by the self checkout machines. None anywhere. I picked up my prescription and asked why. Shoulder shrugs. Not just shoulder shrugs but they didn’t seem to think this was unusual.

Is this a CVS policy or just this specific store which appears to be run by people with lobotomies?

It’s a fucking cvs. People have colds and flus and are picking up meds…maybe you should have garbage cans for dirty tissues?

And if nobody knows why and it’s a:store-specific issue, is there a number to call and lodge a complaint? I saw an older person look for a garbage can, give up, and leave her tissue on the check out kiosk.

Took “promotion” contingent on title and salary change but nothing changed. Now what?

Ten years to retirement.

Was in a senior role doing what I loved. Boom, company restructuring. I was given an opportunity to stay where I was even though my new boss would be a big question mark or take over managing another team I knew and liked.

The work itself would be upper management rather than actual execution of work which I decided was fine at this stage.

We (my new potential boss and head of the division) discussed that this was a step up and should come with a title change and salary adjustment.

They agreed to this but couldn’t say exactly what either would be until HR reviewed the entire restructure.. all titles and salaries impacted.

I said yes to the new role in writing along with the two conditions we discussed which included title and salary change commensurate with the broader responsibilities. For example, my direct reports have tripled in size. I went from leading projects to leading a huge department.

That was a month ago and no news. I asked my new boss. He said he isn’t able to move anything along faster.

What recourse do I have, if any?

HR is nobody’s friend so it’s not like I can ask them. My fear is I have essentially taken on a massively difficult job with zero salary adjustment. I would be happy with even 10% increase. But I would never have taken it without the agreement it would come with an adjustment.

Best path forward?

My son is in med school with 4 semesters left before he becomes a resident. I have paid for his tuition thus far through a combination of savings, family gifts, etc. But after this year, he needs to take out federal loans.

Approximate loan amount: $100,000

I have been reading about all these changes (for the worse), and it seems like there are two plans for repayment: standard and income based.

Seems like most of the advice is to take income based. As a resident, he will probably earn only about $60,000 for several years. He is interested in fam medicine, so obviously he will eventually have a very good salary but not at levels like surgeons, etc.

My question: assuming he takes out a total of $100k in federal loans in 2027 and 2028, which repayment plan should he choose and why?

WWYD?

I am in maintenance and have been for almost a year. On branded tirzepatide since early 2024. Plan to stay on it or another anti-obesity med for life. Lost 130 lbs. Absolutely life changing.

Because I am in the US and our insurance here is garbage, I have for the past two years gotten boxes of branded tirzepatide as soon as insurance would cover them. There were shortages in 2024, and my doctor wrote two different doses (current one and next one up) just so I could find a box. He writes the prescriptions with a year of refills. So I have refilled after learning my insurance did not have quantity limits. Shockingly, I verified this and my insurance company confirmed it. It’s a self-funded plan and this was a very fortunate benefit which they changed for 2026. There are all kinds of restrictions now across the plan.

This means I have many boxes of 12.5mg even though I am on 15mg. The plan was for me to titrate down in maintenance but that’s not happening. I am hungry on 15mg and struggle to maintain. I definitely do not want to titrate down. Doctor agrees I should stay at 15mg weekly.

The issue is: I have a year of 12.5mg in my fridge and am currently filling 15mg. The first 12.5s I would need to use up expire in a few months.

Is it reasonable to start planning a schedule where I use up whatever pens expire first…. Do 15mg weekly as normal but when a 12.5 box is expiring, take that every 6 days? Every 5? Looking to approximate the 15mg level and be consistent if possible.

Manufacturer says you can take a dose after 72 hours has passed from prior dose but otherwise I can’t find any guidance on this.

And it’s not even possible for there not to come a point where many of these boxes will not be used before they expire. I asked a pharmacist about this, and her view was… if you store it properly, and meds are clear, it would be ok to take it a month or two past but she would not go longer than that. It felt comforting to hear that but she doesn’t actually know. And obviously there’s no official guidance on this either.

So WWYD?

Oral minox dread shed: what is happening?

I was diagnosed with AGA in my 20s and have been on topical minoxidil since. I am 54.

I have had 3 massive TE sheds beyond AGA in my life, all related to weight loss.

This last round happened in September 2024 (GLP1). I lost 50% of my hair. I ran to a dermatologist, desperate because I no longer have the ability to even use the same ponytail holders I could just 3 years agp.

I am on spiro 100mg. I saw an immediate cessation of shedding which was amazing. It was like a faucet shutting off. So mad I didn’t start spiro sooner.

I added 1.25mg oral minoxidil one month ago on May 1. My derm said I could see more shedding but since I was on spiro, it might not be bad.

But nope. Shedding started a few days ago and it’s right back to what it was like with TE. This sucks. I keep reading that it’s a good sign and temporary but .. please tell me this phase is short. Anyone see true new growth after 6 months? Especially if you’re middle aged?

Biggest fear is I lose all this hair and there’s no growth or short hairs only that never get me back to my baseline, shitty as it was.

Should also mention my hair does not grow at all. Like length wise. I never need a haircut. It literally just doesn’t grow.

Anyone 2.5 years+?

I started in February 2024x I weighed approximately 265 lbs. I say approximately because I was too ashamed to get on the scale that day.

My last recorded weight was during Covid, in 2021. I had a disc issue and ortho office required I weigh in. I was 244 then.

In 2021, I could still buckle the airplane seat belt with maybe an inch or two of slack. Same airline and plane in late 2023? I could barely buckle the belt. And I mean barely. That was easily an extra 20 lbs by then.

Yesterday, I weighed in at 137.

I am amazed every day that I don’t see the scale climb uncontrollably. I am on 15mg weekly and staying here.

But now what? The studies don’t go that far out for people who have lost this much weight. Even bariatric surgery patents can face regain after several years.

Anyone else wondering about longevity and what happens next?

Another “it’s 3 am and I am doomscrolling every worry in my head” post

First of all, the fact that the long list of flairs to choose for this sub reads like the side effects on a pharmaceutical ad says everything.

How did we get here? Generation of women dealing with peri, sandwiched between raising kids (or have raised), aging parents, too “old” in some employment circles. Too young to retire.

And then the injustice of begging to be seen/heard by doctors. Finally, with a prescription for HRT… yet shortages just slam the door in your face.

I look for solidarity from other women in similar positions. Work-wise, I see the same panic-stricken defensive posturing of territorially because… dammit, we fought for this role. I get it. Defenses up. Mine too.

In tonight’s episode of “Doomscrolling through my brain at 3 am”, I present to you..,

Hair loss
Weight gain
Hunger
Sweating
How will I survive this reorg?
Marriage is a mess
No joy
Need a vacation
Can’t afford a vacation
Because the orange turd has fucked us all
Yet somehow people still follow blindly
Which is why I am disappointed in people
Authenticity and empathy appear to be relics
Brings me to AI.. will probably get served a menopause ad after I post this
Reminds me to say fuck you to AI and your creepy monitoring
But oh, the podcast I listened to was very informative about HRT except for the ads and pushes for products being sponsored
Did I mention hunger? Only thing stopping me from foraging in the kitchen is my utter sloth and exhaustion
And yet, I am on the triumvirate: GLP1 and HRT and all the hair meds and statins… when did I go from taking zero meds to being able to open my own pharmacy from my bedroom?
Starting at photos of my kids when younger… first smile of the day/night
Worrying and sleeplessness… why can’t I stay asleep? Why?
Let me check news headlines in case something major happened..
… welp, that was a bad decision. It reads like satire but nope… these people running the US are stealing our souls.

And now, time for me to find a pleasant yet ineffective podcast or YT video to pretend to fall asleep to until my first work meeting in a few hours.

Soldier on, fellow insomniacs.

Did I mention chin hair? Popping up more frequently than food safety recalls.

Purchasing ELR at gate?

Flying today. Have a choice fare and a seat but the plane is full and it’s a long flight. So I am going to purchase an ELR seat. Can I do so at the gate or ticket counter (which is better-does it matter)?

I would like to use a prepaid MC that I got as a gift card and tried to enter that in the app but it wouldn’t take it. This is one of those “wherever you see the MC symbol” cards that you should be able to use anywhere.

That’s my next question. Will this be an accepted form of payment at the gate?

What to do when you know the end is coming?

Senior level position. Height of my career. After 5 years finally in a job I loved despite long hours, I was told my job was changing. “Told” was framed as an opportunity. Say no, and the subtext was you’re on the shit list. The new tole was no less senior level, but heavy on the management and administration.

I am now understanding exactly what this is. It is a reorg with likely a result in selling the company (currently privately owned). There will be layoffs and the work and teams I loved won’t look anything like they did. They may not exist at all.

And at the end of this, I may also be on the chopping block having done my administrative part and no longer useful.

My choices: stick with it, squeeze out every dime (it’s excellent pay) and start ramping up job search as the end nears. Or.. save part of my tattered soul now and begin immediately looking for another job that almost certainly would pay significantly less. WWYD?

Posted before about being presented with an opportunity but the details were light. I now have details am slightly leaning towards taking it but asking for genuine feedback because I may not be viewing this correctly.

Current position is one I enjoy for the most part but it is heavily contingent on my boss not retiring. He is close to 70 and when he goes, I have no allies there and would be vulnerable. He is healthy and sharp but realistically we’re talking 5 more years.

New opportunity is overseeing a newly integrated team in a different but related area. Developing the systems, culture and engine of this new team. People reporting to me are good people. They keep working on their accounts and day to day life won’t change much for them.

Pros of taking this: it’s a new position during a reorg and considered a step up though titled and salaries of many are being sorted out now apparently. It’s a new challenge for me but I am confident I can do it. Not hitched to whether my boss stays or goes.

Cons: I won’t be primarily doing the work I love but tangentially will. I will have harder decisions to make and more responsibilities. I worry I am being put in place to help through the reorg and then what? Important: I was hand selected for this role and of I don’t take it, they said they will find an external candidate. And u worry I will be seen as not a team player.

I am middle aged and at the top of my career. Genuinely torn.

… so said the nurse practitioner at my dermatology visit today.

I had so much I wanted to say but was (not kidding) without clothes, under unforgiving lights, for a full body skin cancer check. I decided I wasn’t going to preemptively make jokes about my loose skin… about looking like a sharpei.

And that was after she examined my thinning hair and declared progress to be absent despite the standard female hair loss protocols I have been on.

When she asked this, I just didn’t respond at all. I was very disappointed to hear that this is the continuing view of this medication by a healthcare professional.

ADDENDUM: I recognize two things from the responses so far. First, I made reference to Arianna Grande which makes me no better than someone fat shaming. Learning moment for me and I have removed that but am removing it with self awareness.

Second, I want to clarify the tone of this NP and provide more context. My medication list had already been extensively reviewed by the medical assistant. The NP came in, confirmed I was there for a skin cancer check. She checked my hair. No questions about medications I was taking. Then I got the skin check. First on my back (no clothes obviously) then flipped onto my stomach, face down. While she’s bent over with an additional magnifying tool, she casually— not clinically— asked this question. The tone was: did you put in the work or just take the shot? (That was my interpretation and I was the one in the room.)

My point is that it’s disappointing we are still in this space where being obese is viewed as a moral failing and now taking medication for it is too.
