As the title says I played my first game with the Lion today on TTS. I was previously considering cutting him but this guys dices, he slices, he chops, he minces. MY GOD. He killed a Norn Assimilator, a mawloc, and Neutotyrant all. INSANE.
I'll never take him outta my list.

I just wanted to bring up and discuss some common things I see come up in the subreddit. I am not any better than anyone else, just a creative guy who loves Homebrew
1-You do not need permission to do what you want with your guys. No one is gonna come get you and put you in jail if your guys aren't lore compliant. Is it fun to make them so? Absolutely. But it totally isn't necessary. 40K is a big world and most things are possible and feasible with tweaking though!
2-Geneseed is not the end all be all of an Astartes Chapter. Culture matters a lot more, we have plenty of cannon examples of chapters that don't line up with their parent.
3-No one is gonna come get you if you do something they dont like! Ultimately this is about fun. Its totally fun and fine to make traitors and renegades and xenos.

"Herein I begin my record of the oft forgotten Astartes Chapter, the Lords Leonine. So much so is this the case that despite being stationed or operating near or within the Ghoul Stars since their formation during the Second Founding that other Astartes Chapters have been posted to the area without seemingly any care or regard placed for the region's likely first Astartes defenders.
We shall begin with perhaps the best summation of the Chapter's current state, it's Chapter Master Armagil Fern-Blood. Officially the Lords Leonine do not recognize the title of Chapter Master but instead use many titles, some passed from Chapter Master to Chapter Master and others earned by the warrior themselves, with the title of Vow-Keeper most often used in place of Chapter Master. This is a reference to the Chapter's perhaps obsessive tendency to keep any vows they make.
This tendency is at the heart of the Chapter's current culture change and how its current master ascended.
The planet of Good Work in the Desperation Sector of the Ghoul Stars came under assault from a cult that worshiped a race of previously unknown Xenos that the Lords Leonine came to refer to as Splicers. During the campaign to eradicate this species the King(captain) of the 6th company encountered a young girl, separated from her family, named Angela after the Emperor's Angels. He promised her that his chapter would keep the people of Good Work safe. In that regard the Lords Leonine failed. While able to successfully eradicate the foul Xenos they were unable to save much of the population.
A schism formed after this. Half the chapter believing they had done their duty, and while the losses were regrettable they were fully acceptable. Half the Chapter did not agree with this. They had given their word. Their word was their bond. They had failed and something had to be done. Minor incidents eventually turned into a full fledged honor duel between the King of the 6th and the current Vow-Keeper. The result was that the King of the 6th, Armagil Fern-Blood would become the new Vow-Keeper and he intended to keep his word, and avenge Angela.
The Chapter has a specific emblem to indicate veterans of that campaign and battle-brothers who show exemplary courage, honor and devotion to their vows are awarded the Crest Angelic as a battle-honor.
It has grown late, I am afraid and my eyes and hands are not what they used to be. I will leave this work here for now.

Attached is a first draft of the Chapter Symbol for the Lords Leonine. Below are some quotes from their members that I think exemplify who they think are. As before please keep in mind that these guys THINK they are the best to ever be Astartes but are in actuality just ok. I would love some feed back and questions!

The Lords Leonine are a Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Dark Angels. They are nominally Codex Compliant with some variations, primarily in terms of markings and designations. The chapter is known primarily for its utterly arrogant and prideful nature and it's penchant for ancient wargear. This manifests many ways culturally, most notably is the fact that the chapter believes itself to be absolved of the sins of the other Unforgiven in terms of the Fallen as it is such an asset to the Imperium. They of course still assist with the pursuit of the Fallen as they are gracious and wish to assist their brothers.

The vibe here is tongue in cheek to some extent. They think they are the best Astartes ever but they are pretty average.
Hope Gartheya-Malsoh sat at the back of the bar. Tucked into a corner, out of the way, where she wouldn't bother anyone and no one would bother her. Here she was not Lieutenant-General, she was Nos, just like the rest. Well most of the rest. While the bar had been opened primarily to serve the Nierans word had gotten around fast the way it did among NCOs that a new watering hole was open and that they were a lot more.....lenient. That and the fact that folks had quickly figured out that Nierans knew how to party had led to the place being jam packed, loud and energetic.
Behind the bar stood Trooper Faithful. A tall, lean man with a clean shaven and warm face. While he was low rank, he was absolutely in charge here. This was his bar and the small, tackily colored flak-board sign declared it as Hurricanes, named for the sever weather Nier often experienced.
At the table with Hope was Brilliance of course. Technically they were debriefing after the battle in the desert. Technically. While every Nieran knew they were together, none would admit. It was not just a major faux pa that the two of there were together, it could see Hope relieved of duty. This was of course due to the long standing regulation that officers were not to be involved with NCOs. But no one was going to say anything to the hero of the regiment and the regiment's finest commander.
Like are Hellblasters Dreadwing or? What about Intercessors, Infiltrators, etc?
Lieutenant General Hope Gartheya-Malsoh stood in front of the assembled officers. Before her were the field officers, her command staff and any of the particularly clever Kill Team leaders.
“Well my pastares we’ve been shipped off to some backwater maiton of a world. We were meant to go to do war on Griffin Six. We’d have been right well suited to that. Industrial planet, lots of urban enviorment. Tight quarters. Knife-hands that we are we would have won the whole thing ourselves. But I guess someone didn’t give somemone a tongue bath because instead we have arrived here. Trackold Minoris.”
In direct and flagrant disregard for about 2 dozen regulations Hope lit a lo-stick and took a drag. “Nos it’s a damned shame we didn’t get to Griffin Six. We’d have finally won some shinies for Nier! But they knew that we would make them all look like bahndeytos so they shipped us here. To do what Nierans always do.” She paused for dramatic effect and took another drag. Her scarred, dark face looking out at everyone of the assembled officers.
“Knife-handing. We’ll do the dirty work. Just like back home.” She said. Her voice was a whisper, not unlike the sound of a knife sliding out of its sheath. They nodded and the meeting dispersed.

The Planet
Nier is a Hive world with 3 Hives located within the equatorial band of the planet.
Hive Hacksen
The northern most Hive. It is built on the ruins of a previous civilization officially “sanctioned” for use

Located between the other two Hives. It is the largest of the hives and the main industrial hub.
Hive Momi
Like Hive Hacksen it's a major shipping port for planetside operations but it is also the location of the major space port for the planet.

Nier is ran all but in name by the gangs that control it. Officially it is ran by a Grand Overseer who is elected and serves for 20 years at a time. In reality the position is passed between the 5 largest gangs
This also means that there is little distinction between traditions, rituals and cultural artifacts being hang related or not.
Double speak
Nier often has a tradition of saying one thing but meaning another or using colorful, creative phrases for things. All to avoid outright saying the truth. A culture where day to day life is a mixture of avoiding and enacting violence has lead to avoiding being direct.
Insults, curses and threats pepper the way Nierans talk the way other people use pauses.
Language
Nier speaks a sort of bastardized version of what they call Middle Gothic. It combines High Gothic, Low Gothic, words long used before and words from the original native language.

Someone who does dirty work. Occasionally used to disparage others.
Pastare
Coming from the word pasture it means pasture born or essentially bastard. An odd word for Nierans as the vast majority of children are raised communally on the planet if you can call teaching them how to be criminals raising.
Proditor
Traitor. It's the worst insult someone can lay on Nieran. While authority is not generally respected, rules are mostly considered inconveniences and honor something off-worlders go on and on about a Nos’ word is taken seriously and is utterly important. Even a gang cannot operate with some measure of trust and to not honor your oath or word to your fellow Nos is so shameful that they won't bury you.

Black fatigues, dark blue grey armor and grey highlights.
They often call this shadow paint.

They most often cover their faces when going into battle. There isn't much uniformity in these coverings.
Candles symbolize the regiment and are often used decoration.

The idea is to stick the big brick on the center objective and then shoot down or charge whatever comes out to fight me while the Raptors and bikers and such do my secondaries.

What do the white wraiths do in their free time
White wraiths often go on frost worlds to find children/young adults lost/abandoned and take them in as their own. White wraiths believe being a marine is a "family" business. We believe this is cause their primarch truly saw his marines as his sons and treated them as such.
Not all of these children are made into marines some become doctors if they are a family chosen by scïon, they will become forge workers if they are chosen by krag, entertainers if chosen by slash-Hal , or soldiers if chosen by svarog.
Other than having families the white wraiths will have different hobbies. Ikor the rotten in general loves watching ice skating despite his massive form. Scïon loves to teach biology. Krag builds beautiful unique armours that are put on display. Slash-Hal often holds plays. Svarog often competes in air races in the sky of their home world
