is it possible to have IC with no pain + urge incontinence?

context: i am 20F. eight months ago i got my first ever UTI, which only presented as urgency and incontinence, no pain. eventually got it treated and symptoms improved, but i never fully returned to the same baseline i had before. over the next several months i had two more infections with the same symptoms, but again, still never fully went away in the months between infections. after third UTI, went to see primary doctor. she did a urine culture which came back clean, then recommended a CT urogram next but said OAB sounded most likely.

this is what the results of that say word for word:

“IMPRESSION:
There does appear to be some urinary bladder wall thickening probably indicative of
cystitis.

No renal or collecting system masses or stones seen.  No significant hydronephrosis.

Small lower left renal cyst.”

so. yea. basically, does anyone have insights or similar situations or whatever else? is it even possible for IC to present this way? if u do have anything i very much appreciate it

will see a urologist as soon as i can

me again. had my ct scan. results say diffuse thickening of bladder wall indicating cystitis. #whatdatmean

hey, i got my ct scan today and i wanted to update about it if anyone remembers my previous posts here

first of all: tysm for all the support and advice ive been given on my previous posts! as with those ones, if anyone has any insights or similar situations i would really appreciate hearing it. ty in advance for if you do

context: i am 20F. eight months ago i got my first ever UTI, which only presented as urgency and leaking. eventually got it treated and symptoms improved, but i never fully returned to the same baseline i had before. over the next several months i had two more infections with the same symptoms, but again, still never fully went away in the months between infections. after third UTI, went to see primary doctor. she did a urine culture which came back clean, then recommended a CT urogram next but said OAB sounded most likely.

There does appear to be some urinary bladder wall thickening probably indicative of
cystitis.

No renal or collecting system masses or stones seen.  No significant hydronephrosis.

Small lower left renal cyst.”

so. yea. basically, what does that likely mean? not sure how to interpret it, and not sure when i’ll get to talk to my doctor about the results. called and was told “she’ll look at it when she’s able” but didnt directly answer whether or not i would receive a call back or like. when. lol.

ik acute cystitis is an active infection, but cystitis can just be a chronic thing as well. dunno if they would specify it as acute if they thought that’s what it was, or if they can even identify that from the scan.

will they have to do more tests to determine if i do have an infection or not? or what is the likely next step otherwise?

asked for advice abt protection for my situation. many ppl saying maximum pads, premium pull ups, even some mentioned full ass diapers. i didn’t think it was that serious lol and now i am like idk questioning my own perception of my issues :/ they feel sort of superficial to me - vent kinda

ugh sorry for posting for the third time the last two days lmao it’s cringe. i started ruminating on what the outcome of my situation might be, and it’s making me nervous that i have very little to go off as of rn and i have no idea whether the treatments i want to try will work for me. i’m lowkey scared of the possibility of needing to wear thick protection full time.

here is my first post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Incontinence/s/DQHl6Cop72

i just feel kind of like a faker to be honest. i feel my situation is just normal and average mostly except for some reason i wait too long again and then i can’t fully make it. because like, i would be fine if i just went more often??? if i just peed when i felt it the first time then i wouldn’t ever get to the point of leaking in the first place. idk why this happens at all when it isn’t like it ever happens without warning. cus like why am i js repeatedly continuing to wait for the bad outcome? that doesn’t make sense. its frustrating :/ even the negative consequences don’t stop me from letting it happen

in the comments of my last post, many ppl r recommending me to use heavy protection. some are not, and are recommending timed voiding instead. but i think i would be bad at listening to an alarm telling me to pee seeing as how i am also bad at listening to the actual urge to pee as well lol.

but like, i dunno. i feel it hasn’t reached that point? i feel i’m in control mostly. and like it is not necessary enough to be worth the expense and trouble and commitment anyway. it feels like it would be overdramatic to use it. also, i worry some ppl in my life would just assume laziness as well bc they tend to see things i do that way sometimes :/

anyways this is all kind of worries for the future tbh, as currently i have a plan to try kegels to help. and if that does not help, then we will reassess i suppose idk.

however, its frustrating and worrying to not know which way it could go. i have my CT urogram on wednesday at least, but so many of my answers are still far in the future.

like i said in title, sort of worried thinking abt the possibility that i need wear heavy protection all the time

re: my last post, is it possible to still be versatile with fashion and wear skin tight pants/crop tops/etc when using heavy pads or pull ups

basically what i asked. don’t really want to end up having to do it if i have to give up the freedom to dress how i want to. :/

anyone have ideas?

will i experience further issues if i do this while already experiencing bladder issues/likely OAB after recurrent utis?

exactly what it says on the tin. will this exacerbate my current issues? how do i do it safely without totally fucking up my bladder if so? i really think it could be helpful for me so i don’t want to just give up on the possibility…

also, during actual appointments, i heard that it can make you need to pee…? how long do the infusions last…? i don’t want to wet my pants during one 😭

potential OAB. what kind of protection would b appropriate?

so i am 20F and have recently developed OAB like symptoms. when i reach a certain threshold, around 1.5-2 cups, i start struggling to hold it. i usually start getting this intense squeezing urgency and it quickly reaches the point where i can’t hold it without my hand to help me. by the time i get to the toilet im relying solely on my hand to be able to hold it, but the problem comes when i need to remove my hand and actually pull my pants out of the way. most times i end up getting my pants and the floor fairly wet and i have to change and clean up after. it’s annoying. i have this problem a few times a week, if i end up holding it to that point (happens often in the morning but also other times when i simply wait too long or whatever happens that delays me). idk what kind of protection would help with this

so this morning i was in the middle of putting on my clothes and was wiping my… area with a baby wipe, and suddenly i feel the wipe getting warm and wet?? and i take it away and a little bit of pee just leaks out of me onto the floor

i didn’t feel any urge to pee or like i was peeing, it felt more like discharge or a period happening </3

this has happened to me before after (intentionally, to test my control) holding it until i was really desperate/wetting myself, which i assumed was because my bladder muscles are really tired, but it’s never happened to me just randomly?? i was doing the test thing yesterday so i suppose maybe that could have caused it, but it’s been at least 12hrs and it’s never happened that much later, only in the following half hour ish

does anyone else have similar experiences

so i’m 20F. for most of my life before this i have had no issues with this and used to have an extremely strong bladder.

i had to have a full bladder situation for an ultrasound a couple years ago and at the time i was able to hold that much pee and be completely composed and not really desperate at all. like i could feel the pressure and it hurt but i didn’t have to dance i could hold it fine while they prodded all over that area with the wand. was so composed they commented on it which was awkward

now that is completely gone im totally normal to potentially below average control

i first noticed the change last august, 8 months ago, when i started to have issues with sudden and strong urgency causing me to leak and have partial accidents on the way to the toilet. there was no pain, so i ignored the issue thinking i was just waiting too long and not thinking it enough of an issues to comment on, until eventually i brought it up with my mom between 2-4 weeks after i noticed, and was taken to the urgent care where i found out i had a UTI.

i’d never had a UTI before in my life.

anyways, i get antibiotics, it clears up. then, in jan of this year, i get another. same symptoms. this time, i hit my tipping point of suspicion after wetting the bed after i had been drinking a bit. i go to the urgent care. same thing, UTI. the third time it happens was just recently this month. it was abt a week of increased urgency and frequency before i wet the bed AGAIN also after alcohol and then got suspicious enough to assume i had one. but i was out of town, so i didn’t go to urgent care immediately. but then a day later i peed blood and went, and yep, UTI.

anyways. now, without a UTI, when i have waited too long (not without warning, not a super short time, just waiting past the point of discomfort) honestly i can go pretty quickly from need to be but ok to getting an strong urgw to pee i can’t ignore. and if that happens i then sometimes pee on the floor partially because i cant hold it without my hands at that point and i need them out of the way to get my pants off.

what should i expect at a doctor visit? does this sound like incontinence?
