In October we have two gigs on the same night that sound great. We have Moodymann & Carl Craig doing a b2b and on the other side of the city we have Jayda G. I love moodymann but I’ve seen him twice, both times he was the opener and played daytime music. He was playing Fleetwood Mac and Human League. He is obviously allowed to play what he wants, he’s a legend, but I would prefer something more like his own music. Meanwhile I’ve seen Jayda twice and she always delivers a beautiful set with House energy. I think writing this I can feel I know the answer for me.

But I’m curious to know what you guys would choose?

Am I crazy or was Robyn’s voice really lost in the mix tonight? We were on the left looking at the stage and I really felt we could hardly hear her at times. When she came back for the encore her ear piece was out and it sounded better.

I’m an English teacher and talk all day online. By the time the weekend comes, I want to see nobody and sit in silence. Lololol….but I’m aware this is not great for my social life! I just wanted to know that I am not alone on this and how you all battle this feeling?

….is their use of real music. I watch so many shows on streaming etc and it feels like so much music is just made to fit a space in a tv show. But I love that EE and to be fair the BBC in general seem to get the importance of real music. The connection in that. Although i don’t need to hear It Must Be Love again ahahaha

…and two things strike me.

What really struck me was how tedious it is to read about so many men who worked her and who comment on how gorgeous she was. And in such a patronising way. It must have been very exhausting at that time, well, and even now, to be working in an industry where so much of it from the label and production side is male dominated.

Also so many female artists are loved by the queer community, but I wondered what it takes for a woman to be respected by heterosexual men. Is it that her music comes from prog rock? Is it that she was did so much of it herself? I wondered what it is that straight men look for in a female artist and what they connect with.

I guess the additional one is that I have always been a fan of The Kick Inside and then tried Lionheart and The Dreaming and not really felt the same kind of connection. But this book sounds like the process for both of these were difficult for Kate and I feel my response was not unusual.

Just seen they are playing my city. I don’t know any of their music but they look like they could be a good live band. Wondered if anyone had any views? Thanks
