I'm only 5'6" with many barbours—old and new, common and obscure. But I just popped my Japanese tailoring cherry and I'm sold.

I bought the most obscene looking jacket (on paper, and pictures) of an SSK issued Fjallraven(aka license/brand/material loaned to a Japanese distributor) multi pocket jacket. This thing is so obnoxious it has a schematic of all the pockets and what ideally should be loaded into each of them ranging from your baby teeth to fucking claymore mines. Really I just wanted g1000 fabric for North Carolinian transitional weather because I can't wait for Barbour season.

But as soon as I slipped this thing on it felt like a maternal embrace. Waist cinches were hitting at my natural waist, hems were where they were supposed to be. And it felt so..fucking. delicious. It explains why I have three a7s and two trialmasters now 💀

So yeah, I'll always love British tailoring for its utility and dog walking; and the crazy thing is I have a long torso that can rock a Beaufort .But if collabs like BEAMS provide the same fit experience that they supposedly do with half the function I'll never buy an urban oriented mainline Barbour again

If only I can find the beams piece that revived a vintage Barbour I always thirsted for 😢
