Wheel nut torque for c1

Hey got my first car a 2014 Citroen c1 flair mk2, wanting to get some locking nuts as it's got alloys and brand new tyres on

I've seen online it's 100nm torque per nut and wanting to make sure it definitely is 🤣

Downloaded the manual for it but nothing in there for any torque specs

Newbie asking about door handle restoration

Hey so I got my first car a 2014 Citreon C1 Flair MK2 and it's red, but there is a little oxydisation of the door handles which are a bit pink in places

What's a good way to restore these? I have seen you can tape off the metal on the doors and really lightly sand it off and get it smooth with the lower levels of paint and then once smooth clear coat it

Is there a better way? or is that the best

Cheers :)

Best way to clean up alloys?

So I've bought a used car, my first car so this might be the dumbest question to ask but based on a quick google its oxidization of the alloys I know you can pay top dollar to have someone grind it back down, any good home methods? or is it just not worth it

If not it's not the end of the world but I'm new to all this

Just going to try get it looking as good as possible after having some work done on it inside and out

Or if there's a better fitting sub for this question let me know, thanks :)

Best way to get someone to be calmer in private practice

So I bought a car, insured it with a named driver for extra safety net, usually the named driver is actually a calm driver, doesn't rush etc but in the passenger seat it was making me feel more panicked and I am usually very chill when learning with my normal instructor

In the C1 I have I need to get around to changing the clutch cable slack as it's very very high currently which is bad enough but he was saying don't panic etc and the way he was doing it was making me more on edge 🤣 I did say at one point a bit snappy for me, I am calm but you are making me panic, telling me to go into first and I'm like, I am in first for the junction already

He's doing me a favor so I feel kinda bad but it was way more stressful than a lesson and questioning the way I'm driving and I'm explaining this is exactly how I would drive with my instructor and she has never once had to grab the wheel or tell me to change gear mid corner, I always sort my wheel out on tight corners then whack it in 2nd once the wheel comes back round

Bit awkward, anyone else had this sort of thing and a good way of not sounding ungrateful? I just want to be able to drive the way I have been driving with my instructor, there's 7 lessons until my test I don't want to change my footwork and way of steering/gear changing now as it's been working fine

York road Halfords autocentre question

A rather specific question but, as a new driver getting their first car next week, debating if the £54 a year for halfords motoring club thing for the checks and MOT plus discount on gear (which my list is reading more like the 12 days of Christmas by the day) is worth it

Very mixed reviews online but the reviews on google for the nearest one to me, York road, seem pretty good, even the lower star ones have owner responses asking for them to reach out to try sort whatever the problem was/is which is nice to see as some places don't

On one hand any mechanic or MOT garage could try diddle me, on the other if they are more likely to diddle me I would like to pass 🤣

Anyone got any advice on this? Don't know that many people who drive and most of them are on lease cars so new they don't even need an MOT 🙄

L plates for a plastic rear on a car

I should have a C1 coming next thursday and realised I won't be able to use a magnet on the rear, I have seen suction cup ones but seen some say they snap and also seen self-adhesive ones but seen reviews of it stripping paint off when removed 💀

Any learners or ex-learners got a good brand or way of dealing with it, I just want it to be legal and not need to get out and replace one that's flown off at 50mph every 2 minutes or rip paint off my new (not new but new to me) car :(

Used car dealers

Been looking for my first car on autotrader for a few weeks and slowly losing sanity

Just want to find a decent car at a decent price been looking at C1s aygos and 107/108 etc

Any good ones in Leeds?

Also why are they largely red 🤔

New drivers who bought a car, can you walk me through buying from a small dealer?

I am looking at a car, test driven today happy enough with the car and price so want to buy, dealer wants to do bank transfer deposit to hold the car for a week so I can sort insurance and then rest of it via bank transfer to pay for the car but I literally have no idea if this is normal or what the steps of a car sale even are

All my family either A. Don't drive or B. don't deal with used cars from dealers at all

I just don't want to get scammed or messed around, I'm fine with a deposit to hold it but I don't know what is meant to happen after that 🤣

Are all dealers either playing dumb or borderline negligent?

First time buying any car and I genuinely just hate it, I've had so many dealers when asked a pretty basic question "not sure to be honest" when it's something about a corroded brake pipe or clutch replacement on a car that's on the mileage where it might need one

Had another car that looked great until he MOT'd he today and he said to me and I quote "I was only going to replace one of the front brakes but thought why not do both" instantly made me, a car thicko, go but wouldn't you replace both anyway

Then the final advisory on the pass MOT

Front Suspension arm ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated o/s + n/s (5.3.4 (b) (i))

I asked if I agree to purchase the car after a test drive will he replace the covers as those seem likely to fail within the 6 months warranty anyway and I almost got out the worlds smallest violin

"oh well I've already spent a fair bit on it and it would eat into the profit"

You priced a car before even MOTing it, for something so basic as replacing two bits of rubber you won't secure a sale after a test drive by spending another few quid?

I've even had one guy when I asked even a few basic questions tell me the car had sold, yet on their website and autotrader still 🤣

I can't wait to be done with this shit, I hate it

Are any dealers good or am I just being unlucky?

Would this level of rust put you off this car?

Long and short is I'm a new driver, first car, 2010 Citreon C1, 0 advisories but rust around the wheel arches

Is this a worry or is this fine for a 16 year old car and would it be possible to use something like a rust converter or something to clear it up, I plan on actually taking care of the car not just ragging it around 😅

Annoyingly don't have anyone really to ask about cars and you can only get so much of an answer out of google or an AI, the most part its fine the flaking rust looking section is the only part that looks "bad" and I say bad to my eyes a mechanic might say thats nothing 🤷‍♂️

Dual dash cam recommendations

Been looking around and seems like a bit of a minefield online for dash cams, you can go with the solid nextbase and pay £230+ for a 4k one, seen some on amazon like the Miofive for about £150, just wondering if there is any decent ones around that are value for money and not more hassle than its worrth and just bite the bullet and buy nextbase

I'm gonna be a first time driver well, still learning test in oct but want a car to private practice in and just wanting the security of dual cams especially the 24/7 protection features as some have been known on my street to ding a car overnight and just drive off

Which is also why I was hoping to get 4k as I have seen some footage on reddit where it's been 1080p and you can't quite make out the reg as its 1080/30hz

I don't usually try cheap out on things but the cost of buying even an older car outright, insurance, cams and also planning to wire brush and underseal it for peace of mind at adds up 😅

Pigeon advice

This dude has been sat here for about 15 minutes now not drinking just heavy panting and looking around

I went out very slowly and got a few feet away just to judge it's reaction it just looked at me so I didn't stay long and came back in

I don't want to put it in a box as my car currently is at a garage so I can't even take it in somewhere to be checked, but there are a lot of cats in my area just don't want him to end up a lunch 🥲

Any advice?

Edit: after the comment below ive asked my cousin for a lift and got Pete in a box with some water after he had some food, covered it with a towel in a quiet room away from my cats and will take him in for a check over, hopefully gets treated well 🤞

Telematics experiences wanted

Curious how people got on with private practice with telematics insurance, it's way cheaper but it does make me wonder how strict it is

No plans on driving around at 50 in a 30 or whatever but don't want the surprise of a cheap insurance going to the same price or higher as a non telematics one because the computer noticed I went 21 for 0.5s in a 20 going up a massive hill (using that example as I live on said massive hill)

Curious of experiences, currently looking around at cars and the cheap ones for telematics are around £480 for the year which seems almost too good to be true which is why I am doubtful 😅

5 months in and the lack of rule knowledge still baffles me

Mainly around blue flags but people will be confidently wrong in both directions, both the people saying you need to move over asap even when they are like 1/2 seconds behind or slow to a crawl and the other type of people who say no I don't need to move ever or let you past you need to find your own way

Or on the flip side of letting people pass and they won't wait for a safe place for you to let them, they just send it mid corner or try push the inside on a corner like Blanchimont like bro do you want to die? 💀

It's dangerous to be both type of person, why can't people just help facilitate the pass when someones near instead of being unpredictable or jamming their brakes on and causing me to wear brown pants or at least not try to kill us both

Doesn't matter what class, GT3, P2, HYP whatever or even the SR, seen it from bronze to gold races, seems to be people just making it stupidly hard to pass or annoying to try to let them pass 🤣

I wish the game forced people to read the rules 😅 or at least had some form of video that had a scenario explaining it so people can visually see how a blue flag can play out safely

Need better stewarding

Been away for a month because I was tired of dirty drivers in gold races, did 2 spa races today already seen 3 people blocking, multiple rams and dirty dives and one guy who straight up ended my race so I spectate him hes blocking another driver and when he gets close he pits him and ends his race too lol

Pretty sure he's even playing with a controller as hes jerkin around all over the track

I keep getting told there's an auto ban system, how can he take out 2 people and he's driving around like it was nothing

I just want to be able to race against people who can actually read the rules of the game 🙄

Do people not like Algarve or is GT3 kinda dead during the weak of paid tracks?

Thought I'd get some races in before other things today, first race algarve guy who wins has 5000 iR meanwhile I'm at about 1700 💀 look down at the list at the end most of them pretty high, went and did some stuff came back a few hours later next race SOF is about 2500 like oh ok and then everyones zooming off and I'm feeling like an MX5 vs GT3 cars 🤣

Is GT3 usually this quiet for paid tracks, Oulten last week was always a fairly decent split nothing crazy like the 2nd race, bottom guy was 800 iR top guy was like 3000

Do I swap instructor? Constantly feel tense and making mistakes

3 lessons in about 4 hours, by the 2nd lesson we are doing roundabouts, national roads, junctions etc and same for the 3rd lesson and I just feel like it's too much but he keeps piling it on

I realised today while driving that I am not relaxed at all and that's why he always tells me to be gentle with the gears, but it's not from intention it's just wanting to get it done while being tensed up

I actually almost snapped at him because he took me to a roundabout and he knows I haven't gotten the clutch/gas speed down yet so I am over cautious because I don't want to bounce it or stall but when I'm already tense and he's constantly saying you missed a gap repeatedly and internally I'm screaming "I fucking know" and saying come on get going etc

I dunno, is it me? I really don't know, I just feel like that lesson was awful and I actually couldn't wait to get out of that car at one point even thinking should I even bother learning at all if this is what it will be

I feel like instead of practicing the basics even a little I've been thrown in at the deepest end possible and then being picked up on things I've messed up because I haven't had really any practice 💀

Would you blame the Mobo at this point?

So I've had an issue which is both here and here in short, randomly PC will boot loop at idle or very low usage

PSU originally was found faulty so I replaced it, one month later the issue has shown up again exact same symptoms random boot looping to the degree I've had the electrics for the house checked to make sure it wasn't dirty signal or resistance somewhere but was found fine

I was plugging in USBs earlier just to try one by one on the mobo and it did a boot loop when I plugged it in until I unplugged it but it did not do it again later when I tried again

only USBs right now in the mobo are keyboard and mouse, audio was plugged in front USB C on the case still did it

did memtest this morning passed 4 fine

previously had no GPU in wouldn't boot either (old PSU)

I don't know what it could be other than the motherboard but genuinely killing me trying to work this out, worst fault I've ever had for diagnosing as there is just 0 event viewer info other than critical power and nothing else

About to go elbow deep to check the power cables are clipped in.... again, just to be quad sure it's not loose contact somehow after a month of not being moved

I'm at a loss of what to diagnose, previous PSU fault back to haunt me

So a month or so ago I posted this and in the end sent back the PSU, was confirmed faulty and got a refund, bought another worked fine since

Today the SAME fault happened once, PC has worked fine since no boot loops so far after hours of being left on

I've even had an electrician come and test the fuse box and circuit in the room of the PC both are fine so I can rule that out

Is there anything else that could cause this random sleep mode turn off + boot looping at random under low usage that I can't think of, or am I just the king of faulty PSU purchases?

I can't think of anything else that would cause this type of behaviour other than bad a bad PSU, which this has already been found with my last one, but in less than a month of use? 😭

I swear some players are paid actors in races

First time ever leading 10 laps at le mans at a night race, 4 to go, behind lapped car, gaining pace on straight

P2 flashes him, he pulls dead in front of me 🤔

I'm going faster I pull out to avoid contact and then sandwiched between him and P2 🤔

I'm pulling ahead of both 🤔

lap down car pits me 🤔

lap down car pits me 🤬

How in the ever living clutch do you manage to see P2 flash but not me, why would you MOVE for P2 but not me and why would you not let off the gas a little, and why would you go ah the guys almost past I'll turn into him

I just wanted my first damn win, I've been playing for 4 months, 4 laps to go the other guy needed to pit I didn't but no, some lap down warning badge scumbag doesn't know how to act in a blue flag and cannot somehow see me in his rear view or even the radar at the side

I am just gonna go back to iRacing at this rate, the pure lack of moderation of this dangerous trash driving unless they int wreck you is a joke but even if you pay a sub you can only do a few well moderated events a week?? I would happily just pay a sub to have better moderation on all events, tired of having rules that basically mean nothing in 99% of races
