2020 Crosstrek, 132k miles...
I wanna preface this by saying that I absolutely loved this car up until today. I live in the Appalachian Mountains, so this car goes on rough roads, but I don't drive it hard/aggressively. Stayed on top of oil changes and routine maintenance. 12k miles ago, the dealership had discussed a possible transmission binding issue at a routine oil change, but couldn't verify it at the time. Yesterday, the car started spraying coolant, and I noticed oil in it. Figured it was a head gasket replacement, which would have been a high cost, but I was willing to do. Towed to dealership, and while assessing they verified the worst case scenario regarding the transmission as well, so now I am looking for just a new car.
My question is what's been the overall transmission life for CVTs for you all? Has that been a more common issue in the 100k-150k lifespan for them vs other vehicles? Like I said, I loved this car, and initially I figured I would get a new Crosstrek, but really not looking to hit around this same mileage again in 6 years and I have a 10-15k repair bill.
Any insight is much appreciated. This just seemed like a very young engine still to have such a catastrophic meltdown.
