Hide and Seek with Poppy is a small arcade-style game made in RPG Maker. Play with Poppy, a beagle puppy, in several rounds of hide and seek! She loves to play... and sometimes she feels lonely....
Thoughts about the art and all?
I remember that place very clearly.
Better than I wish I did...

My childhood was, in many ways, boring.

My mother was so strict that simply going out to the backyard felt like an adventure. She was overprotective to an almost ridiculous degree. Wherever I went, she was right behind me, whether I liked it or not.

I never went to sleepovers, parties, or school trips. Nothing.

Except once.

It was the summer of 1987.

My best friend Jake was celebrating his birthday at a very special place: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a family restaurant known for its children’s parties and its famous animatronics.

I nervously asked my mother if I could go, already expecting the usual answer...

But surprisingly, she said yes.

I had behaved well. My grades were good. It was her way of rewarding me.

That entire week, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I imagined what the place would be like.

And before I knew it, I was standing right in front of the entrance.

The neon lights, the sound of arcade machines, the music echoing through the halls...

Everything hit me the moment I stepped inside.

Children were running around, laughing and screaming.

And on the main stage stood Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica.

And in a dark corner...

Foxy.

Everyone seemed excited to see them.

But personally...

They made me uncomfortable.

Their movements were too sudden. Too mechanical.

Almost like they were pretending to be friendly.

We met up with Jake and the other kids. We ate pizza, laughed, and had fun.

But as usual, my mother wouldn’t let me leave her side.

While she finished eating, I watched the other children running around, wishing I could join them.

Then I saw him.

Across the restaurant, Jake and the others were talking to...

Someone.

A tall figure wearing what looked like a rabbit costume.

But it wasn’t like the animatronics.

The suit looked strange.

Old.

Damaged.

Dirty.

It didn’t belong there.

Jake came running over to me, excited.

“Hey! That guy has a surprise for us for my birthday. Are you coming?”

I looked at my mother.

She immediately shook her head.

Jake tried to convince me, but when he realized it wasn’t going to happen, he smiled and walked away with the others.

Following the rabbit man toward a door at the back of the restaurant.

I stayed there.

Frozen.

I felt angry...

And there was this strange feeling in my stomach that I couldn’t explain.

Minutes passed.

Then hours.

Night came.

And then...

The screams started.

Parents began arriving one by one.

But the children never came back.

Jake’s mother wouldn’t stop crying.

The employees searched everywhere. The building was evacuated.

Not long after, the police arrived.

My mother grabbed my arm tightly and pulled me outside without saying a word.

She started the car with a pale face, sweat covering her forehead.

She left me at home...

And went back to the restaurant.

She said she wanted to help with the search.

On Monday, a police officer came to my school.

He asked me what I had seen.

I told him about the rabbit man.

He didn’t answer.

He just thanked me and left.

My mother protected me so much...

That she never told me the truth.

I didn’t find out until years later, when I watched a documentary about it.

That night, after the disappearance, they found the rabbit suit behind the restaurant.

It was covered in dirt and dried blood.

There were small handprints all over it...

And next to it...

A professional kitchen knife.

The restaurant didn’t close immediately.

It stayed open for another week.

But then, during one of the shows...

Something happened.

Freddy started bleeding.

Literally.

An employee turned off the lights and ran to the stage.

The restaurant closed that same day.

No explanation was ever given.

Twenty years have passed.

The building is still there.

Abandoned.

Overgrown.

Slowly being eaten away by time.

Some neighbors claim that at night, if you listen carefully...

You can still hear the songs from that old show.

Whispers...

And laughter.

My mother protected me.

I hated it.

But sometimes...

I’m grateful she did.
