Best oil to fully break a gel cast on fine, dense, high-porosity curls ?
Hi everyone,
I have fine hair, but it is also very dense and high porosity.
I’m having a hard time fully breaking my gel cast after wash day. Even when my hair is completely dry, I sometimes still have a few sections that stay stiff/crunchy or feel coated, especially around the front, crown and some inner layers.
I currently use a small amount of jojoba oil to scrunch out the crunch, but it does not always fully soften the cast.
I also want volume, so I do not want an oil that makes my fine curls flat, greasy or overly separated.
My current routine is:
- Curlsmith Frizz Control Shampoo
- Curlsmith Essential Moisture Conditioner + Tangle Deezer
- Kinky Curly Knot Today leave-in
- Denman D3
- Aussie Instant Freeze Gel
- Hover diffuse on low speed / medium heat
- Jojoba oil to scrunch out the crunch
- Light root shake for volume once fully dry
What oil or lightweight serum would you recommend to fully soften a gel cast without sacrificing volume or making fine, dense curls greasy ?
Thanks!
