I'm considering buying this game because it looks super fun to design/fly planes and spaceships, but I'm worried about how steep the learning curve is. If this is something that requires hours upon hours of focused gameplay to *start* being able to enjoy it or "get things rolling", I don't want it.

I'm pretty wary of this because when I tried picking up EVE Online, I had a hard time trying to figure out what to do next and how to progress overall (not to mention, the amount of info was kind of overwhelming); so I deleted it. I don't want to spend 40-50 bucks and end up deleting KSP after a several hours. It might be because of my fried attention span, but I don't want to pay for a game that feels more like working than play.

Of course, it's all relative. However, I would like to see how you think.

This is a survival game. You have nothing except the objects here. And you can't craft, change, or otherwise cheat your way out of this

You wake up on a rusty rowboat boat in the middle of the sea. Water stretches outwards for miles. Thankfully, you notice an island almost directly ahead of you. The boat will pass by the island, but you can jump out out and swim to the island when it gets close enough, abandoning the boat.

Before you leave the boat, you have to decide what to bring with you. Your handy sack can only carry 5 pounds of stuff. You can only carry stuff in there, because you need at least 1 free hand to swim.

Your survival will be determined by chance. There are three categories: Health&Nutrition(HN), Environmental Threats(ET), and Chance of Rescue (CR). this is much like DnD. I will roll a 20 sided dice and if it gets higher than a specific number, then you live. If not, you die. The only exception is CR, you don't need to pass that number to live; but passing means you win the game. Not passing CR just means you live on the island forever, but that's not very fun

These are the numbers you must pass in order to win:

HN: 17

ET: 18

CR: 20

The items you choose to bring can help (or hinder) your chances of survival by adding or subtracting the number on the d20. I will roll the dice 3 times and the highest result will be the number you use for all categories. Here are the item stats. Remember,you can only carry 5lb of stuff.

Bottle of water: 1lb, +2HN

Can of BEANZ™: 1lb, +1HN

Machete: 3lb, +3ET

Med kit: 2lb, +2ET +1HN

Fire starting kit: 3lb, +3CR -2ET
