You don't have to a full time writer or very well known, just someone who has published an interesting piece of work at least somewhere. The interview questions will be around literature, book burning, banning books, writing in general, and a lot of topics surrounding writing such as how you got published and the writing world in general.

If you think you'd be interested, respond via this google form and I will get back to you about an interview: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdFTjKCVs9FwnMEjQe_R95M1pjsMMndrKO4CATvGNMrWjQIug/viewform?usp=dialog

The Smashager: a heavy duty illager guard

https://preview.redd.it/pwb26meiwm5h1.png?width=1346&format=png&auto=webp&s=5093222b8b89a2e9a9dd68016c1136d9481a7743

the smashager would be a heavy illager guard armed with a mace, found in the last waves of raids and rarely in woodland mansions. It would have 40hp, like the piglin brute, have purple robes and a mace, and launch itself in the air and smash people with its mace as an attack. It would act as disruptor in raids, directly targeting villagers and only fighting the player if you attack it.

It would also be found in huts scattered around the world, serving as a more beefed up melee illager, as the illagers currently lack something like this

Minecraft lore theory: the hidden war between Illagers and Piglins

I’ve been piecing together a connected lore timeline that explains the Illagers, Piglins, and a bunch of “random” structures in Minecraft as part of one continuous ancient conflict. It starts all the way back when Illagers broke away from Villagers.

Long before modern villages, there was one civilization. Over time, a group of villagers were exiled for practicing forbidden magic and aggressive military ideas. These exiles became what we now call Illagers.

At first, they were simply outcasts. But they didn’t disappear.

They reorganized.

They recruited warrior villagers and formed the first true Illager factions:

  • Vindicators as melee soldiers
  • Pillagers as ranged scouts and raiders
  • Evokers as elite mages and leaders

Their first successful raid proved villages could be conquered. Using the stolen resources, they built the first Woodland Mansion as a command center. Pillagers operated from Outposts, reporting village locations back to the mansion hierarchy.

The expansion into magic and domination

Evokers pushed Illager power further into forbidden magic:

  • They learned to summon fang attacks
  • They captured Allays and corrupted them into Vexes
  • They formed alliances with Witches for potion-based warfare
  • They bred and trained Ravagers as siege beasts

At this point, Illagers were no longer just raiders—they were an expanding militarized empire.

Contact with the Nether and the Piglins

During their expansion, Illagers discovered the Nether and encountered the Piglins.

The Piglins were organized but not truly unified in warfare. The Illagers offered something valuable:

  • Military training
  • Weapon discipline
  • Structural fortification techniques

In exchange, Piglins allowed Illagers access to Nether resources and mining privileges.

The Piglins were also experimented on and influenced over generations:

  • Illagers introduced and traded pigs from the Overworld
  • Piglins bred them into massive war beasts known as Hoglins

For a time, both sides benefited.

But the Illagers were not equals with their allies.

The betrayal and Piglin rebellion

The Piglins eventually realized the Illagers were controlling too much of their development and weakening them intentionally to prevent future rebellion.

So the Piglins revolted.

They turned their new war-beasts (Hoglins) against Illager forces. They attempted to overwhelm Illager positions and seize control of the Nether infrastructure they had helped build.

However, the Illagers had already prepared for this.

The Illager counterattack

The Evokers unleashed everything:

  • Vexes bypassed defenses and destroyed leadership targets
  • Ravagers broke through Bastion fortifications
  • Elite Illager strike teams eliminated Piglin leadership

The Piglin ruling structures collapsed. Their kings and generals were wiped out, leaving behind only scattered remnants of their civilization (explaining Nether fossils and ruined leadership sites).

The rise of the Piglin Brutes

Without leadership, Piglins fragmented.

The strongest warriors adapted:

  • They reforged captured Illager axes into gold weapons
  • They created uniform warrior identities
  • They became what we now call Piglin Brutes

Brutes were not originally a separate species—they were the militarized remnants of Piglin society after collapse.

The destruction of the portals

After crushing the Piglin rebellion, Illagers feared retaliation from remaining Nether forces.

So they destroyed the major Nether–Overworld portals.

This is why we now find Ruined Portals scattered across both dimensions:

  • broken remnants of war infrastructure
  • failed Piglin attempts to reopen routes
  • abandoned Illager extraction sites

The Wither Skeleton problem

During the conflict, Illagers also recruited skeletons from the Overworld as infantry for Nether warfare.

But they were too weak.

So Evokers modified them using Nether magic:

  • increased durability
  • blackened bone structure
  • stone weaponization
  • withering energy infusion

These became Wither Skeletons.

But when the war ended, they were abandoned in the Nether after the portals were destroyed.

Now they remain as stranded remnants of an army that no longer exists—caught between both factions and hated by Piglins for their role in the war.

The current state of the world

  • Villagers are the remnants of the original civilization, focused on trade and survival
  • Illagers remain a fractured but dangerous magical war faction operating from Mansions and Outposts
  • Piglins are a broken post-war society still haunted by the Illager conflict
  • Wither Skeletons are abandoned relic soldiers with no homeland

HIRING: one off editor to create an animation

I'm looking for an editor, preferably with animating skills, who can create a 7 second animation of a cow on a conveyer belt which i will be inserting into my video essay. The conveyer belt transports the cow into the slaughterhouse, and beef comes out on the other end. I won't be able to pay for this project as it's literally just a 7 to 8 second animation I need. If anyone would be willing, let me know.

I’m currently bootstrapping and can’t offer paid work yet, so this is best suited for someone looking to build experience, practice editing styles, or expand their portfolio.

looking for someone who can do text animation

I'm looking for an editor who can do text animations very similar to the style done in the very beginning of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16kTqBUh8mM

I have a £0 budget in terms of hiring, which makes sense as I just want a few different aesthetic text animation clips I can insert into my video. I'm creating a video essay on a topic I have knowledge about. Let me know if you'd be willing and I'll hit you up!

Looking for an editor for a video essay

I'm looking for an editor who can help create some animations, visuals, and vfx bits for a video essay I am making. The video essay I am making is something I have knowledge about, but I need some animations for a smooth and polished feel. I won't be able to pay, but am not looking for an entire video to be edited. I just need like 3 different animations in a line animation style
