WARNING: I’m being extremely honest in this article, and you should be grateful I’m holding back on the swearing. This article is specifically aimed at a certain group of people I’m referring to, but obviously anyone can read it.

So, let’s break this down.

Stella has spent years publicly humiliating, verbally and physically abusing, and insulting her husband, has had him targeted for assassination multiple times, and laughs at his suffering. She literally says that she enjoys watching him suffer. She neglects her own daughter.

The fandom: “You have to understand her. She never wanted that marriage. She never wanted to be a mother. She was forced into it, and she probably had a difficult childhood.”

Striker — literally a hired assassin.

The fandom: He definitely had a tragic past.

Crimson — a mafia boss who abused his own son and quite possibly killed his wife.

The fandom: “He deserves a redemption arc.”

Blitzo — jumps from partner to partner like he’s changing socks.

The fandom: “It’s funny.”

And now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying I don’t want Striker to be redeemed, for example, or that Stella couldn’t have had a difficult childhood.

BUT.

Stolas — his only real wrongdoing is betraying his daughter’s trust.

The fandom: “He doesn’t deserve forgiveness. He should end up on the streets, and preferably die slowly and painfully.”

Like… have you people completely lost your fucking minds?

Octavia wouldn’t even want that.

Why do you think people like Striker and Crimson deserve the chance at redemption, but Stolas doesn’t even deserve to stand in his daughter’s shadow?

I’m not saying you have to love him. But why do you hate him this

I understand that just because someone has done less harm than someone else doesn’t automatically mean we have to like them or think they’re amazing. That’s not even my point. What bothers me is the logic that you want, for example, Stella to get a redemption arc, but when it comes to Stolas, the idea doesn’t even cross your minds.

According to you, he doesn’t deserve redemption. He doesn’t deserve forgiveness. He doesn’t deserve anything

And even if Viv did exactly what you want and had him die slowly and painfully, your reaction would probably still be: “She’s just trying to manipulate our emotions.”

And I deliberately brought up Blitzo too.

Why are you perfectly fine with Blitzo jumping between partners, but the moment Stolas kisses some guy who isn’t Blitzo, suddenly you’re reaching for a knife in your pocket?

And can I ask why, whenever someone suggests that Via might eventually forgive Stolas, you see it as an attack on Via?

People make a simple suggestion and you immediately go:

“Stop forcing Via to do something she doesn’t want! She hates him!”

Breaking news: she still loves him.

Yes, I know. Shocking.

You know what I think?

You don’t actually hate Stolas himself. You’re projecting your own fathers (or mothers) who abandoned you onto Stolas, and you haven’t been able to deal with that, so you take it out on him.

Maybe I’m weird, but my father abandoned me too, and I still like Stolas.

I completely understand why Via is angry with him. Via isn’t us. She doesn’t see or know everything that we

Except you do know what’s going on.

And yet you still act like you don’t.

You simply suffer from a failure of judgment.

Writing things like, “Stolas needs to be punished so he realizes where he went wrong. He needs to try harder. He needs to grow up…”

Stolas should try harder. He should

But saying that he deserves to be alone and suffer for the rest of his life? That’s an entirely different extreme.

Especially when, according to you, Stella, Crimson, and Striker should all get redemption.

So I’m genuinely asking you: when the fuck are you finally going to be satisfied?

Okay, I’m done with the rant. Sorry, but I really needed to get that off my chest. It’s actually kind of a relief.

Okay, I know what you're probably thinking right now — “WTF? Has she lost her mind? That makes absolutely no sense.” But please, let me defend my speculation.

So, in the trailer, we see young Stolas and Vassago together. They look like they’re in love, but then there’s that scene where they separate, which I think is meant to symbolize that they had to leave each other.

Everyone can interpret it however they want, but this is how I interpret it:

This takes place a few days before Stolas and Stella’s wedding. At this point, Stolas is in love with Vassago, or at least he thinks he is. Vassago is the only Goetia who treats him well and actually understands him.

And even though Stolas is in love with that imp he met as a child, he doubts that he’ll ever come back, and he already knows how cruel Stella is. Maybe she had been treating him horribly the entire time, and he can see that her family is horrible too. He simply doesn’t want to be part of a family like that.

Vassago sees that Stolas is unhappy, so he suggests that they run away together.

Stolas agrees.

What they don’t know, however, is that Andrealphus is listening to them.

The night before the wedding, Stolas tries to run away, but Andrealphus stops him. He tells Stolas that he knows everything and warns him that if he runs, he’ll find him and kill him.

Stolas tells him that he doesn’t care.

So, to get what he wants, Andy threatens to kill Vassago instead, which immediately gets Stolas’s attention. We already saw in “Western Energy” that Stolas doesn’t really care when someone hurts him, but he absolutely cannot stand the thought of someone hurting the people he loves.

And Stolas definitely cared about Vassago, so there’s no way he would let anything happen to him.

So Stolas stays.

Maybe he goes to Vassago personally and tells him that he has to stay, but doesn’t tell him that he’s in danger. Instead, he tells him that he doesn’t want to bring shame to his family and that everyone already thinks he’s incompetent, so he has to secure an heir.

That hurts Vassago, but not enough for him to resent Stolas or start hating him. He’s just… disappointed.

Then, when Vassago leaves, Andrealphus appears again and praises Stolas for being obedient. He then threatens him, warning that if he tries anything, there will be consequences — and that it won’t stop with Vassago. He’ll hurt everyone Stolas cares about just to keep him obedient.

Maybe Stella was there too.

Who knows.

Yeah, I know I’m probably overthinking this WAY too much, but I don’t know… somehow, for some weird reason, it just makes sense to me.

But I’m probably the only one. XD

This is probably the craziest speculation I’ve ever come up with, but I still wanted to share it with you. What if Stolas is adopted?

Paimon might have had a brother of lower rank who had a son named Stolas. After his biological parents died, Paimon could have adopted him at around three years old and passed him off as his own.

Stolas might only have vague memories of his biological parents, but his father could have taught him kindness, compassion, and not to abuse his power. Later, he may have associated those memories with Paimon, whom he had considered his father his entire life.

Maybe that’s why Stolas was so happy to see Paimon in “The Circus” – he remembered him as a wonderful father and couldn’t understand why he was treating him as if he weren’t his son.

Maybe that’s why Paimon only sees Stolas as an heir, not as a son. Since Stolas looked like him and his brother, no one questioned that he was Paimon’s son, even though he was actually his nephew.

Paimon might have thought: “Everyone believed he was my son, so I have an heir. I don’t need to do anything else for him.”

And then there’s Stella. Paimon may have chosen her because of the political marriage, which would strengthen his position among the Goetia, while also securing an heir for Stolas. He didn’t care whether Stolas was happy or whether he and Stella got along – she came from a suitable Goetia family, and that was all that mattered.

Paimon might have even known what Stella was doing to Stolas and simply didn’t care. As far as he was concerned, Stolas had one job: get married, have a child, and continue the family bloodline.

It’s also possible that Stolas was powerful from birth, or at least showed potential for it. Paimon knew this, which could have been another reason he adopted him – he cared about power, not the child himself. It’s like adopting a child just for the money: legally, they’re yours, but you don’t actually care for them because you don’t consider them your own.

Okay. I realize this might be complete nonsense, but as far as I know, Paimon isn’t Stolas’s father according to the source material (I’m referring to demonology), so that was part of what I based this on. But it’s really just speculation. I completely understand if you think it’s stupid—I just like speculating and sharing my thoughts.

2. The moment he wakes up, there’s an imp there with him. In The Circus, the butler helps him get dressed, while in Sinsmas, Blitzø prepares breakfast for him.
3. This is more of a difference, but also a parallel at the same time. In The Circus, Stolas tells Blitzø something and Blitzø is bored by it. In Sinsmas, when Stolas talks about something, Blitzø listens to him attentively.
4. In The Circus, Stolas mentions plants, implying that he likes them. In Sinsmas, Andy makes fun of him because of his plants.
5. In both episodes, Stolas starts crying so much that neither Paimon nor Blitzø can calm him down.
6. In The Circus, Blitzø steals things from Stolas’ palace, while in Sinsmas, he steals things for Stolas.
7. In The Circus, Stella publicly mocks Stolas and humiliates him in front of her friends, while in Sinsmas, she mocks and humiliates him in front of Octavia.
8. In The Circus, Stella wants to physically attack Stolas, but he stops her. In Sinsmas, Andrealphus wants to kill him, but Blitzø stops him.
9. In both episodes, Stolas bravely stands up to the tyrants he had previously been afraid of. (Or at least one of them.)
10. In The Circus, Stolas mentions that he endured all that suffering so Via could be happy. In Sinsmas, Via realizes that Stolas suffered in his marriage only because of her.
11. In The Circus, Blitzø jokes that one day he’ll have his own company and hire Stolas. In Sinsmas, he actually does it.
12. In The Circus, Stolas is sad and Blitzø is the one who cheers him up. In Sinsmas, Stolas is sad, and Blitzø eventually manages to cheer him up again.
13. The Circus is about Stolas’ birthday, while Sinsmas is about “Christmas,” so both episodes are centered around a celebration/holiday.
14. In The Circus, Stolas asks if it’s a game that imps play, while in Sinsmas, he asks if everyone steals when they don’t have money. He asks both questions to Blitzø, and both imply that Stolas doesn’t really understand how the world of the lower class works.
15. If we don’t count the part where Stolas was a child, then in both episodes he was basically depressed.

Notice that in the first season, Stolas had absolutely no problem with Blitz using guns. He even described guns as exciting.

But in Helluva Short 13, he is visibly uncomfortable when Moxxie mentions guns in his story. It almost looks like he has something against weapons. He only changes his mind after Moxxie, a weapons expert, carefully convinces him that guns are cool.

I suspect that he may have developed a trauma related to weapons after Striker tried to shoot him in that teahouse (or café?) and then tortured him with a knife, which isn't a gun but is still a weapon.

But this could very well just be a coincidence. What do you think?

As Deadpool would say — it’s an educated wish.

I know it’s not going to happen overnight, and I know it might take a long time before we even get to the point where Octavia forgives Stolas (and if she doesn’t forgive him, then at least accepts that he’s genuinely trying to make things right). But still… this is the ending I want.

And I don’t care what they have to do to get there. I’ll wait. Even if it takes ten seasons and a hundred Helluva Shorts.

And if it doesn’t happen, I’ll just go looking for fanfics about it.

This post isn’t meant to force my opinion on anyone. It’s simply something I wish for, and if you disagree, that’s okay—you don’t have to agree with me. But please don’t ruin my dream.

What would you guys think about an episode, or maybe a Helluva Short, where Stolas receives a message with the details of their next target? Stolas gives all the information to the others, but they gradually realize that something isn’t right. Maybe the name, address, or even the method of killing the client requested doesn’t match.

Maybe they accidentally kill someone they weren’t supposed to, while the actual target remains alive, meaning they don’t get paid and even receive a bad review. Nobody understands how this could have happened, because they followed exactly what Stolas told them was in the message.

Then Moxxie reads the message himself and they realize that Stolas gave them the wrong information. Blitzø asks him why he did it, and Stolas reluctantly admits that ever since he lost his powers and everything, his eyesight, which used to be really good, has been getting worse and worse. He needs glasses, but he was afraid to say anything because he didn’t want them to worry about him or think he was unreliable.

Blitzø then decides to buy him a pair of glasses, and Stolas promises to fix everything so they don’t lose clients because of the bad review.

Before Stolas first stood up to Stella, he allowed her to hurt and humiliate him, which really damaged his self-esteem. Because of this, Stolas thought he was a failure and that he didn’t deserve to be loved. That’s why he became so attached to Octavia, because he wanted at least someone to genuinely love him.

It didn’t help that Stella humiliated him publicly, and judging by what we saw in the trailer, I’d bet that wasn’t the first time she had attacked him in public. Stolas never defended himself and let her hit him. The other Goetia saw this, and considering that Stolas is supposed to be one of the most powerful demons, they probably felt embarrassed to have to witness his wife beating him while he didn’t even defend himself and allowed her to insult him. So they kept their distance from him because they saw him as weak and incapable of standing up for himself.

That’s why Vassago was the only one who stood up for him at the trial, because he was the only one who knew what Stolas was going through and what he was actually like.

And the fact that Blitzo allegedly raped Stolas only reinforced their belief that Stolas really was such a pathetic loser that he would allow some weak imp to rape him when he could have killed him with a glance at any time. None of them knew how much Stolas was actually sacrificing, or that he had a reason for doing what he was doing.

And judging by the way they treated him, he was afraid to ask them for help because he knew they would only mock him even more. I mean, what kind of Goetic prince allows his own wife to abuse and publicly humiliate him?

I also think there were probably some who pitied him and wanted to help him, but didn’t invite him to parties because they were ashamed that they hadn’t helped him, while also trying to maintain their own reputations. They were afraid that if they helped him or even talked to him, they would become outcasts just like him, and they didn’t want to risk that.

So Stella didn’t just abuse and humiliate him. She did everything she could to make him look pathetic and useless in the eyes of everyone else because she wanted him to be alone, so she could tell him: “There’s no one who loves you. If it weren’t for Octavia, whom you only have because of me, you’d be alone.”

Then she would do everything she could to discredit him in Octavia’s eyes as well, leaving him with nothing. And all of that just because… why? Because she didn’t want to marry him?

Humiliating and beating him is bad enough, but keeping him isolated so he has no friends and has to believe that he would have nothing without her… that woman is a total psychopath, and honestly? I don’t care whether she was forced into the marriage or whether she had problems in her childhood. I hope justice catches up with her and she gets what she deserves.

EDIT: I just realized that Stella was the one who sent Striker after Stolas, so Stella is indirectly responsible for Stolas having PTSD now.

He’s so fucking sexy and adorable. He looks good in everything he wears, and whenever he cries, I just want to hug him. And I can see that Blitzø started realizing it too in Season 2. XD

Is the trailer trying to hint that Stolas had issues with his identity, or more specifically, with his gender, in the past?

Sorry if this is a stupid question (I understand if you’re rolling your eyes or laughing right now, but please be respectful in the comments), but based on Stolas’s song and the scenes we saw, I got the impression (I’m not exactly sure why) that he used to question his gender. He apparently thought that being attracted to men, loving romance movies, and not being attracted to women meant he had been born the wrong gender. That’s why he started wearing makeup. Vassago then showed him that he could love men and still be a man, and that being gay didn’t mean he was born the wrong gender and that there was nothing wrong with it.

Note. This is not a theory. I don't have enough evidence to present it as a theory. It's just speculation. And I'm not saying that it necessarily had to happen this way. It's just another one of my “what if...” posts.

What if Stolas’s mother was unhappy in her marriage and the only reason she stayed was Stolas? She wasn’t as bad of a mother as Stella. She took care of her son. But at the same time, she wasn’t as good of a parent as Stolas (I’m not claiming that Stolas is parent of the year, but you know what I mean), so maybe she cared about keeping her son safe, but she didn’t love him.

During the Harvest Moon Festival, she fell in love with an imp at first sight. The love was mutual. That imp was Striker’s father, who was already married at the time and had a young son... and maybe even more children. Who knows? Maybe Striker had siblings.

The two of them started secretly seeing each other. The imp eventually convinced the demoness to run away with him. To leave their families behind and live together somewhere else. The demoness agreed.

One day, she secretly left the palace. To avoid Paimon having to deal with the scandal, either on his own or with someone else’s help, he cast a spell that caused most of Hell’s inhabitants to forget Stolas’s mother. Or maybe only Stolas forgot her, and possibly Paimon too. Who knows? Talking about her was taboo, though, and if Stolas asked, they were supposed to tell him that his mother was just some concubine who left after fulfilling her duties. To be safe, they also had her portraits removed and all records of her erased.

Back to Striker. Striker’s mother was devastated and, more importantly, angry that her husband had run away with some “princess.” She even called her a slut in front of her own son and said that all Goetic demons were like that. She told her son that they were the ones who took his father away from him.

After that, she stopped taking care of the family and began drowning in her grief. Striker had to grow up quickly and start working at an age when his friends didn’t even know what work was yet. He tried, but it wasn’t easy, and his mother became angrier and angrier. She became an alcoholic and took her anger out on her son.

Eventually, because she drank away everything they had, they lost everything. They had to live in some kind of cave or in the slums, or somewhere that wasn’t exactly ideal, but they had no choice. It didn’t help that at every Harvest Moon Festival, the Goetic demons always treated the imps condescendingly. And when Paimon himself showed up, Striker’s mother declared that it was his wife who had taken her husband away from her.

That was when Striker became seriously angry and went down the path of crime. No one knows what happened to his mother. Maybe she died from alcohol poisoning. Maybe Striker was so fed up with his mother’s desperation that he killed her himself. Maybe she’s still alive but never leaves the house because she sees no point in it.

Either way, Striker started robbing and killing and swore revenge on all Goetic demons.

One day, when he was around Octavia’s age, maybe a little older, he managed to find his father through a contact. He found him living in a modest but cozy little house. Stolas’s mother was there too. There was also a child living with them. It didn’t necessarily have to be their child. It could have been adopted.

Either way, Striker was furious. He kidnapped all of them and then confronted his father about what he had done and what he had forced Striker to go through.

First, he killed the little child. Then he went to his father and killed him.

He would have killed the demoness too, but then he decided to let her go. Not out of mercy, but because he wanted her to see him take everything away from her, just as she had taken everything away from his mother. And that, just as he had suffered, her son would suffer too.

And that is the main reason why Striker had no problem with kidnapping Stolas, and why he enjoyed torturing him. It was personal revenge. Stolas got punished for all the demons, and at the same time for something his mother had essentially caused.

And the poor guy didn’t even know what was going on.

Striker is definitely happy about how Stolas ended up after the trial. Because it reminds him of the time when he lost everything, and this way he finally got his satisfaction.

I deliberately labeled it as a headcanon and put the word “speculation” in the title to make it clear that this isn’t anything confirmed, but simply my own speculation based only on what we know, while being fully aware that it might not prove anything, but at the same time, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s wrong.

• Gremory is a female Goetia and, like Stolas, is also part of the higher nobility.
• Gremory is associated with the Moon, while Stolas has strong astronomical and celestial themes.
• Gremory has the ability to reveal the past, present, and future, which thematically connects to Stolas’s interest in astronomy and cosmic phenomena.
• There is speculation that the name Gremory may be connected to the word “grimoire,” while Stolas’s grimoire is one of his most important possessions.
• Gremory is traditionally associated with obtaining love, which could be an interesting parallel to Stolas’s strong desire for genuine love. It could also explain why Stolas is so different from the others (if we don’t count those we haven’t met yet, or Vassago) and why he is considered “weak” from the perspective of the other Goetic demons. Basically, he takes after his “supposed” mother.
• Gremory is said to have a soft spot for children, which is an interesting parallel to Stolas and his strong relationship with Octavia. Maybe Gremory was a good mother, but due to some unfortunate event, she had to leave and abandon her son. Before that, however, she had already raised him well, which could explain why Stolas was such a good parent (at least up to a certain point).
• Gremory is referred to using masculine pronouns in older texts, while at the same time she is traditionally described as a woman. So she is essentially genderless and could show affection toward both men and women. I know that orientation does not necessarily have anything to do with someone’s gender. But I’m sure she would support Stolas and Blitz’s relationship.
• Modern descriptions attribute to Gremory the creation of portals to other dimensions, which can loosely be connected to Stolas’s ability to enable travel between worlds.
• Gremory is associated with the crown, beauty, and roses, which could thematically complement Stolas’s elegant and aristocratic design.
• Gremory is described as beautiful and helpful, but also cruel and manipulative, which could be compared to Stolas’s own moral complexity.
• According to some traditions, Gremory transforms herself in order to test people, which could be another ability that Stolas could theoretically have inherited.
• According to one modern source, Gremory was raised by the Great King Paimon and swore absolute loyalty to him, which is particularly interesting considering that Paimon is Stolas’s father in Helluva Boss. He wouldn’t necessarily have raised her from childhood. But considering their immortality, it is quite possible that he had to wait until she was old enough to give birth to his heir.
• Gremory commands 26 legions of demons, just like Stolas.
• In modern occult sources, Gremory is associated with herbs/plants, although this is not part of the original Ars Goetia and these correspondences vary between sources. But if we take this into consideration, it could explain Stolas’s love of plants. Maybe it was his mother who introduced him to them.

I know this probably doesn’t prove anything, and it’s more likely that Stolas’s mother is just some random concubine... but this is only speculation. I have a theory that Stella and Andy’s father could have been Andras. So that got me thinking... Why couldn’t Stolas’s mother be some important Goetia? There are very few significant female Goetia in the original sources, and Gremory seemed like the best candidate to me.

You don’t have to think this is true, but do you think it could theoretically make sense, or are you strongly against this speculation?

Halloween is slowly but surely getting closer (btw, it's my favorite holiday ever), and for the first time I've decided to celebrate it in a costume. And I decided to go as Stolas.

The problem is that I'm not really the type of person who has much experience with costumes, and I also don't have enough money to buy exact replicas of his clothes and accessories. I'd like to try making something myself. But I need your help. Could you give me some inspiration on how to do it? And not just when it comes to the clothes, but also the makeup and hairstyle.

BTW, I'm a girl, so I want to try something like Stolas, but if he were a woman. So I would probably have some kind of dress, or skirt, or something like that, and a nice hairstyle. BUT I would still be Stolas. Just a female version.

But I really need some inspiration. Could you give me links to some videos or pictures? Or give me some advice on how you would do it? I'd be grateful for any help. Thank you. And I'm really looking forward to my first Halloween in costume.

If we ranked the I.M.P. gang by physical strength back when Stolas still had his powers, he would obviously be number one. But without his powers, he seems pretty weak.

However, appearances can be deceiving. Let’s not forget that he managed to beat up Elsa and could lift an ice sculpture over his head without any apparent difficulty. But earlier, he had trouble even pushing a table.

And then, the moment Elsa mentioned Octavia, all that strength suddenly came out of him. So is this basically a case of, “When your child is in danger, you unlock hidden abilities you never knew you had”?

Or was the show trying to imply that Stolas is actually physically quite strong, but because he’s a pacifist, he doesn’t get into fights and has simply never had a reason to physically attack anyone before?

It hasn’t been that long since I posted an article about my 13 thoughts about Stolas, and thought number 13 was that he’s autistic. Honestly? I don’t even know why I thought of it, but I still believe it.

I’m autistic myself, so I can somehow sense when someone has similar traits, but I can’t really explain how I know. So if you asked me, “Give me evidence that Stolas is autistic,” I wouldn’t have any and I’d just say: “I just feel it.”

But I’m curious: do you also think Stolas is autistic? If so, why do you think that? Do you have the same feeling I do, like he just gives off that vibe? Or have you noticed any hints in the show? If so, share them! I’m really curious.

BTW, am I the only one who feels like the idea of Stolas being autistic makes him even cuter and makes me want to protect him even more?

Please tell me I'm not the only weirdo, and that there's at least someone else here who has done this at least once and, like me, compares Stolas and Octavia while watching the show to see whether they do the same things that real owls do. XD
