Is it seen as a negative for a woman to be short in Korea?

Kpop kind of leads me to this impression because while there are a few shorter idols, they seem to cluster around 165-170cm and largely be at least over 160cm.

There seems to be a much larger variety of heights of western pop stars, like there's 152cm Sabrina Carpenter, ~154cm Ariana Grande, and ~178cm Taylor Swift. Few people see their heights as a negative. While people act like ~160cm kpop idols are incredibly short and much over 170cm incredibly tall.

I know the height standards for men are probably worse, as they are in most countries, but I'm more curious about women because I am a woman and on the shorter side (158cm) lol

Since there is a lot of discourse about over-tourism in Kyoto and Tokyo, are there other places you recommend people visit in Japan instead?

Particularly for people who are going to Japan for the first time

What do you think is an underrated place in China for tourism?

Particularly for people who may have never been to China at all (but who are adventurous). Is there a less obvious place you think should be high on the tourism list?

Is there a negative view of women who are under a certain height in China?

Disclaimer- I am a woman and short (I'm 158cm/5'2), so my perspective is influenced by that.

I started using Xiaohongshu around when the Tiktok ban happened, like a lot of Americans did. I found myself drawn into a lot of body-image related stuff there because, well, I struggle with insecurities around that, like many women do. And frankly Asian social medias are a treasure trove for body-image-issues related content.

I expected the weight related stuff and general appearance related things. What I didn't expect was the sheer amount of women who were deeply insecure about their height. Namely in the direction of feeling they were too short. The threshold of which said insecurity magnified was under about 160cm. Which from my perspective, isn't so short that most women (in America at least) would be insecure about it, at least not to that level. Like yeah you can't be a fashion model, but that's about it.

I saw women saying things like that they felt horribly ugly because of their height, that women under 160cm could never be truly beautiful, that they don't think women that height should pass on their defective genes, that someone they dated's parents wouldn't accept them because of their height, that they felt the need to wear hidden height-increasing shoes, parents talking about giving their healthy kids growth hormones, and that many (non-modeling) jobs simply wouldn't hire them because they are too short. And like, they are nowhere near having a medical condition-short, just a little below average.

I also notice that almost every female celebrity in China is in the 165-173cm range or close to it. It seems very narrow and related to the beauty standard. Wheras in America there are plenty of female celebrities much shorter than that (and plenty who are taller too for that matter).

I don't really see this discussed much. Did I get a niche community amplified towards me because of algorithms? Or is this really a sort of perspective people widely have in China?

[29] What color hair do you think would be most flattering on me?

I edited the colors, this is more of a guide to show what they might look like and I'm also open to other suggestions. If it makes a difference, the top middle is my current hair and my natural hair color is dirty blonde, closest to pic 7

Age [18] on left, age [29] on right

I was quite unhealthy on the left, eating poorly and very stressed out. I wasn't technically overweight at 5'2 and 125lbs (158cm and 56kg), but I felt it as I am small framed and had no muscle, my skin was breaking out, and a lot of it went to my face.

I'm 108lbs on the right (49kg), have a much healthier lifestyle, style myself a bit better, and I think aging a little has had a positive impact on my face as well (especially since I avoid the sun lol)

I last tried playing Neopets a bit after flash was discontinued and the games became unplayable. Have they fixed that yet?

Ok I'm being a little lazy by asking here instead of playing the game but isn't being lazy what the internet is for? I just wanna know if Neopets is playable again (or if not, if they ever plan on making it so) 😭

Sometimes aging is a good thing (age (19) to age (29))

Sometimes I get anxious about aging, but I think I look better than I did when I was younger. Although I'm a healthy BMI in all of these, I lost maybe 15lbs around age 23-24 (I do not hold weight in my face in a flattering way) and stopped having caterpillars for eyebrows lol. I'm sure my thinner or bleached eyebrows at some points would be controversial but eh they're fun and my eyebrows have sadly never stopped growing back in the slightest. I've never gotten any procedures or anything but I wouldn't be against it in the future. My style sense has changed too and I anticipate it will keep changing. I would hate to remain the same.

So if you're in your early 20s and think what society says about women looking their best at like 20 is true, I hope this helps you realize it isn't. I don't think I look amazing or anything but I definitely think I look better than I did around that age.

The first photo probably reflects how I've styled myself over the years better but I made a version with no makeup in any of the pics just to be fair, that's what the second one

Stop glazing Shein. They don't even have Asian sizing. They just have stretchy cheap polyester shit that fits everyone because it stretches

I'm sorry but I'm so annoyed by the constant comments here about "shein being the only thing that fits you" and I'm here to de-influence you. Shein does not exist in China. They sell to an exclusively international market. Their target market is westerners. Their sizing is not Asian sizing. It's just stretchy shit. It fits you well because it is stretch polyester. It is not the only clothing that fits very small people. Just get honestly any knit material made undersized so it stretches to fit you, and it will have the same fit. But it won't be the quality of literal trash. If you want to find something with Asian sizing, do some research into brands actually sold in Asia.

People call Shein "Asian sizing" because they often list the measurements of the clothes that are meant to stretch when they are unstretched. However they are meant to fit anyone from that size up to a significantly larger size that the clothing stretches to. So they see deceptively small measurements listed and assume it's because of Asian sizing. It's not. Also because they think it's actually an Asian brand lol. It's not. Or rather, it's not sold to Chinese people, nor is it targeted towards Asia as a market

When I IPL my upper lip, sometimes I feel it in my teeth behind my lip. What is going on and should I be concerned?

My only theory is that I have almost no skin pigmentation so the light is just going straight through my lip to my teeth lmao. It doesn't hurt beyond the very mild snapping sensation and heat you sometimes get with ipl, but I feel a little concerned. Should I be? And what is going on here?

I can't find any information about it online really beyond AI saying that it shouldn't be theoretically possible because the light shouldn't penetrate that deep, but also alternately saying that it is possible. I can't really find humans asking about it
