Related to my previous post about Husbands and Dads playing Diablo 2

Dear @ Everyone: I want to first thank you all for the great vibes in your answers on my previous post about Dads and Husbands who are playing Diablo 2, while managing to be good husbands, good dads, and good adults in general:

I think this kind of energy deserves to have his own space to let the vibes grow and be shared. According to the answers here, there is many people that will like to play with other husbands and dads, knowing that is totally fine if they cannot complete the run, or even commit for a long play. So I want to propose something:

>> What about if when anyone of us is able to play, we create a Diablo 2 game in the Project Diablo 2 servers and we name the game something like:

[Hubbies/Dads] First Act...
[Hubbies/Dads] Level 1...
[Hubbies/Dads] Killing Baal...
[Hubbies/Dads] Warrior Lvl 5...

or something around these lines...

This way we will have our secret code to:

a). Know that the game is from someone from this post
b). Is a game designed for us that we have to deal with adulthood and responsibilities

Does it sounds like a solution? Or do you think there is a better way to connect between us?

>> Also, for the people using Discord, we can post like: "Hey, about to start a [Hubbies/Dads] Act 2, who wanna join?".

I will create my first games this week, using the [Hubbies/Dads] on the name of my games, and also posting on the Project Diablo 2 Discord before creating the game.

--------

As I am located in France, and I will create a Multiplayer Character for the first time in level 1... I know my time-zone and the level of my character will sadly not adapt to all the people here... But, there is still the evidence here that many people will be actually happy to play and connect with other people.

This is why, I think something as have a code for the name, can let anyone here create a game, and the other people recognise the code-name [Hubbies/Dads] and join if the level and Time-Zone of the game matches their possibilities.

I hope this make sense, and even if is not forever... we can enjoy it as much as we can.

Adults out there playing Diablo 1 in DevilutionX... this is a message for you

Hello dear community, hello dear admins

This is a call for all the Adults out there playing Diablo 1 and/or Hellfire in DevilutionX, for those heroes managing to be good adults, husbands/wifes, dads/moms, workers, etc...

I am a 40 years old dude, a boomer you might say. No shame on that. I am looking for other adults who will like to play Diablo 1 with other chill and relaxed people, who understand that you might need to disconnect when wifey/husband calls... and that we don´t have time to play 3 or 4 hours per day anymore.

The idea is to play, just have fun, and not care about perfect runs, perfect party, etc.

If someone is interested, feel free to contact me in Discord, send me a message here, or find me on the DevilutionX Discord.

My Discord is:
oscarpinzon7794
Also as: Oscar PINZON

I am also playing other games as Diablo 2, so please if you contact me, kindly tell me which game are you looking forward to play. I hope to find more DevilutionX fans!

Looking forward to connect with you, and maybe play a little (before we fall asleep in front of the computer or wife call us to fix the thing that we promised , but we haven´t do in one week).

Cheers!

Oscar

How can I find Public Games or Lobbies to play Age of Empires 1 and Rise of Rome?

Hello, hello Community

Another post, another request of your experience. I am just a 40 years old dude, a boomer you might say... having a nostalgia trip as never before.

I am looking for people who can share their experience finding or knowing Public Games or Lobbies with Public Games to play Age of Empires 1 and The Rise of Rome

I use Upatch, but I dont mind of course installing the game again without it, if it´s needed.

- Some context just to help people to don´t focus on "just play Definitive Edition":

I own the Definitive Edition, it´s great. I am not trying to replace that experience. I am just trying to find new and interesting ways to play online the Old Version of the game that we love, and that brings me so much nostalgia. I respect the Definitive Edition, its amazing, but its not the focus of this post.

I will sincerely appreciate if you have experience with this, and you want to share your learnings with a boomer (me of course!).

For everyone who will stop and show kindness, thanks a lot
For the people who will try to make jokes... "respect me! I can be your grandfather!" (hahaha, Im kidding), you can. But just notice that I will not take it seriously. Instead I will just wish you happy fight and many GG and victories!

Peace everyone!

How can I find Public Games or Lobbies to play Age of Empires II HD?

Hello dear Community

Im a 40 years old dude that used to play so much Age of Empires 2, yes, I am a boomer, and there is nothing I can do about that. Anyway, I come to kindly ask for experience and recommendations to the community to know

How can I find Public Games or Lobbies with Public games to play: Age of Empires II HD outside of STEAM? (Steam Community is fine, but I am looking to expand other options).

Keyword: Expand*

Some context to save you time in case that you want to recommend Definitive Edition instead, (which is valid).

- I own the Definitive Edition, I play it, and I am not looking for replacing it. I am just looking for interesting alternatives to expand my ways to enjoy the game that we love, and give some life to my Age of Empires II HD.

I will really appreciate if you have experience to share about this, and if not, I wish you happy games!

Thanks a lot everyone!

A call for these Adults playing Project Diablo 2, while being husbands, wifes, dads, moms... etc

Hello everyone!!
Hello dear Admins!

First, if my post is not allowed, please delete it immediately. (I really hope I am not breaking any rule).

I am just an 40 years old guy trying to manage his "adulthood", wife, work, responsibilities... etc My time is really limited now, and I am just wondering if there is another people like me here who will like to play together Project Diablo 2 from time to time, in a very chill atmosphere... with tolerance if you need to disconnect suddenly because your baby starts to cry, or your wife needs you to FINALLY fix what you promised to fix one week ago! :D

If there is more adults here who will like to play with other people, without needing to commit to even need to finish the run when duty calls... Lets organise us to play together!

[A useful info]: I am located in France (so you are aware of the Time Zone). Anyway, please if the post is SO OFF TOPIC and should not be here, please delete it and let me know that I did a mistake, I am sorry if I did!

Is Project Diablo 2 compatible with Wine 4.0 or CrossOver 18.5?

Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you very much for all the work you've put into Project Diablo 2. It's an amazing project, and I've been trying to get it running on my older Intel Mac.

Before asking here, I carefully followed the official installation guide from the website. I also installed the required .NET 6 Desktop Runtime (x86) exactly as recommended.

My setup is:

  • Intel iMac (Late 2013)
  • macOS Mojave 10.14.6
  • CrossOver 18.5 (Wine 4.0)
  • Windows 7 32-bit bottle (I also tested a Windows 10 64-bit bottle with the same result)
  • Diablo II + Lord of Destruction installed successfully
  • Project Diablo 2 installer completes successfully (100%) without errors.

The problem starts only when launching PD2Launcher.exe.

The launcher crashes immediately with an unhandled .NET exception (0xe0434352). It doesn't appear to initialize or even attempt to load the launcher UI.

From the stack trace, I can see references to:

  • hostfxr
  • hostpolicy
  • coreclr
  • PresentationFramework
  • WindowsBase

This makes me wonder if the launcher itself is incompatible with Wine 4.0 rather than there being a problem with my installation.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone successfully run the current Project Diablo 2 launcher using Wine 4.x or CrossOver 18.x?
  2. Is Wine 4.0 simply too old for the current launcher?
  3. Does the launcher now require features that only newer Wine versions support (for example WPF/.NET 6 compatibility)?
  4. If so, is there any known workaround for older Intel Macs running Mojave, or is upgrading to a newer Wine engine the only realistic solution?

I'm not asking for unsupported troubleshooting if this setup is simply too old—I just want to understand whether I'm chasing a solvable problem or a hard compatibility limit.

Thank you very much for your time and for any advice you can provide!

Sharing your experience with SlashDiablo and Path of Diablo to help someone

Hello Diablo 2 Classic Fans!

I would sincerely appreciate if some people can share with me your experiences playing SlashDiablo and/compared with Path of Diablo.

What I would be very glad to hear from your how experience:

a). If you had the chance both SlashDiablo and Path of Diablo for a while, what would you say that are the main differences between these two projects??

b). In what are they similar, and in what are they different??

c). How closer or similar it feels to play SlashDiablo and Path of Diablo to the original Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction (classic)??

-----

Context of my question:

I am also playing Diablo 1, it´s just so much nostalgia!. I played DevilutionX and Tchernobog...

After playing half of a level in Tchernobog, I just decided to stop playing it. The game feels really really far away from the original: The loot was exaggerated, you make a lot of money in a blink... It feels easier than the original... I appreciated the new characters, and the nice visual improvements as the UI, the flames on the dungeon looks nicer... that was AMAZING; but I just feel like I was playing a different game.

I am not an older dude dear guys, I am 40 years, so if I spend 4 hours playing SlashDiablo and other 4 ours Path of Diablo, just to see which one I like the most... that would honestly be all the time I will have available in 2 or 3 weeks!!... ... So believe me, it's not like Im lazy to test both of them... Is just that now my time is sadly very limited, so I would love to jump into the one that sounds more appealing to me.

----

Thanks if you stop to help, and share your experience! After all, that is what Reddit is about!
So thank you!

Can you recommend an existing learning material for a StarCraft 1 Player get introduced and easily understand StarCraft 2?

Hello dear community, I hope you are all having a blast

Old StarCraft 1 player here. I am a 40 years dude now, and I am trying to have a nice start into StarCraft 2.

I installed the game, play a game... and even if there was many familiar faces (scv´s, dones, probes, marines, zealots, zerlings, etc...), there was some new things that makes me want to put a pause, and want to lear a little bit about StarCraft 2 differences and changes from StarCraft 1.

Can you kindly recommend:

  1. An existing learning material (video, post, blog, etc) that can help an old StarCraft 1 player to quickly get the changes and differences on StarCraft 2?

  2. An existing learning material (video, post, blog, etc) about the differences in Terran?

In case that you want or prefer to share your direct experience, feel free to do it. (I asked for an existing material, so you don´t need to take time to write here, but, if you feel like... I would truly appreciate it as well).

Thanks guys!

Where can I play Multiplayer sessions of Age of Empires 2 & The Conquerors Expansion in 2026? >> HD Version

Hello dear Players and Community. I am just an Age of Empires 2 & The Conquerors player and fan, that is feeling nostalgic.

I want to ask the Old School and New Players here:

What will be the 2 best ways to play Age of Empires 2 with Conquerors Expansion in 2026 (The HD version)??
Does any of these methods will apply to Mac? (or be compatible if I use CrossOver?)/

By "Best Ways to Play" I will mean:

1). With a big community of players in 2026
2). Easy setup, and Mac OS friendly if possible (I use CrossOver)

******** If not, would it be easier to play using the Original Age of Empires 2 with The Conquerors Expansion instead of the HD version?? *********

I truly appreciate your insights, and tips. I am thankful since now!

(Quick note: I am not wishing to play the new version "Definite Editon"). Again, its a nostalgic topic dear players and community.

Video Games and Board Games: Does anyone feels the same?

Hello! I wanted to share some questions and feelings with other Video-Games and Board Games enthusiasts:

I love to play both Board Games and Video Games. Somehow, there is some stuff from Video Games that I feel very fulfilling, that I haven’t found his equivalent on Board Games, so I would love to ask the community of Video Games and Board Games:

I am not trying to compare them; at all. I want to say that I love both of them. So, more than a comparison- It’s a genuine question from myself:

- Does anyone else feel like that there is some magic from the video games such as: Investigating Hidden Places, Investigating Secrets in the game or “around the game”, Bugs, Easter Eggs, etc… that it’s not possible to have on Board Games?

I love to even ask to ChatGPT to tell me rumors about the game, stories from the developers, hidden things on the code… And I would love to find and equivalent on the Board Games.

I know it’s not a requirement for this things to exist to make the Board Games amazing (and somehow I even love that about Board Games).

So my question will be: How do you expand or extend your Board Gaming experience (for your favorite games), beyond the way that it was designed to be played? And what do you do to “satisfy” your desire to be in contact with the game when you’re not playing?

I’m watching “Playtroughs” and always adding the Facebook; Instagram, Discordand Reddit communities of the publishers from the Board Games I love … but I feel like I’m missing something to be more in contact with the board games I love; when I’m not playing them
