AITAH For asking my partner to pick up a case of water since he won’t let me use the 48 cases we have in the basement

My husband and I have been living together for over 6 years. He has always been a “preper”, he has all of the survival gear and supplies in the world. We currently have about 48 cases of bottled water in the basement. We cannot drink the tap water where we live. We usually keep about 2-3 cases of water upstairs for use. We ran out. I asked him if I could take a case from the basement and replace it the next day. He said NO! I asked why not if I would replace it? He said, “because I made a rule.” (For emergencies only) I got frustrated and told him, “ok, then you can go to the store today and get me some water since I can’t have any of the multiple cases that we have!”

He has been giving me the cold shoulder since then. He did end up going and getting a case of water from the gas station, but he will not talk to me. His entire energy is clear that he doesn’t want to be around me. For reassurance, I asked him, “can you at least tell me if we are good?” He said “I’m not gonna talk about it”

What could I have done different? Should I have just went to the store myself and got a case of water? AITAH for getting frustrated that I can’t drink the water we have, even with the promise of replacing it the NEXT DAY? I’m flabbergasted that I’m sitting here wondering if my partner is about to leave me over me wanting water.

I should add an edit: I do love him very much. I was a shell of a person when he met me and he helped to build me up. He helped me get my drivers license and my independence. He showed me things I had never learned before. We are also very traditional, I do work part time but he pays all of the bills while I do the all of the housework and I use my part time money for things for myself, gas in my car, birthday presents etc. I want this to work with him. I genuinely need advice on how to communicate with someone who gets defensive or cold when things are not done the way they were anticipating them to be done?

AITAH for telling my dad not to post a picture of me eating brownies, and getting upset when he did anyway?

I’m 21F and I’ve been trying to lose some weight recently. I’ve been eating in a calorie deficit for several days and have been making a genuine effort to stick to it.

Yesterday, I decided to have two pieces of brownie/cake for dessert. I was actually really happy eating them because I’d been restricting myself quite a bit and wanted to enjoy something without worrying about my diet since I usually feel very guilty eating food not “healthy”.

My dad took a picture of me eating the brownies. I repeatedly told him not to post the picture, but he posted it in our family group chat anyway, with a comment basically saying that I’m “on a diet.”

Later, my mom asked my dad whether he was going to eat puri for breakfast the next day because she assumed I wouldn’t eat it since I’m dieting. My dad responded that I was “doing drama” and that I’d already eaten “two cakes” that day.

I ended up crying afterward.
The issue for me isn’t really that he pointed out that I ate brownies. It’s that I explicitly asked him not to post a picture of me, and he did it anyway, then continued making comments about my eating in front of the family.
My dad thinks I’m being dramatic and that it was just a joke. I think he crossed a boundary by posting a picture after I specifically told him not to, and then making comments about my food.
So, AITA for being upset with him, or was he just making an innocent joke that I took too seriously?

WIBTA for making sure my BFs brother knows the reason we're not going to his fake birthday is because his GF uninvited us when we said we couldnt do it on my BFs actual birthday

So my boyfriends (27) brother (31), we'll call him Greg, has a birthday on Christmas eve. Because of this, my BF has always done a 'Greg fake birthday' around June to make sure Greg gets to properly celebrate his birthday with all his friends around. This year, Greg's girlfriend, we'll call her Polly (28), is organising Greg's fake birth day.

Since getting with Polly, Greg has started slowly cutting ties with everyone in his life. BF has barely seen him the past year and everytime they do see each other ends with Greg claiming BF has somehow upset Polly over nothing. Polly practically refuses to see BF and makes sure Greg does this too. The reason Polly hates BF is cos Polly was originally dating Greg's best friend and when Polly and Greg got together immediately after the breakup, BF refused to lie to their friend, her ex, about it.

Anyway I could say so much about whats happened but thats not what this is about.

A few months ago, Polly made a group chat to try and organise this fake birthday. She suggested late august/ early September, to which my BF responded that we wouldnt be able to do the 25th because that is my BFs real actual birthday and so we'd be busy. Polly then kicked us out of the group chat and went on to organise Greg's FAKE birthday to be on my BFs VERY REAL BIRTHDAY, on the 24th and 25th.

Everyone else is under the impression my BF and I refused to go and thats why we aren't involved, which is not true. My BF is the maker of Greg's fake birthday, of course he wants to be there.

So, WIBTA if I make it clear to Greg why we aren't there. My plan is to send a message on the 24th saying I hope he has fun, we would have loved to be there but Polly kicked us out when BF mentioned he was busy on his real birthday, and that hopefully next year it'll be a different time and we can make it.

I know for a fact Polly is telling him we've chosen not to come because we dont like them, which is not true. Again, it is my BFs real birthday, of course we're going to be busy.

Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone. I think Im just going to leave things for now. I might message Greg to ask him what hes getting BF for his birthday, that way in the small chance hes forgotten he'll be reminded. In terms of the party, I might message him on the day tell him I hope he has fun, but leave it at that. I dont want to stir the pot, and if he wants to know why we arent there he can ask, but at least he knows hes not forgotten

AITAH Husband Wants To Pursue Acting

I'm 24(f), and my husband (26m) has recently told me he wants to pursue acting. At first this did come as a shock because he is currently a software engineer, and for most of our time together he has never once told me he was interested in acting and that he was really happy with his job in software. However, all of a sudden he tells me he has had a really big passion for acting, which is odd, but if it makes him happy, I'm here to support it. He told me he wouldn't quit his job and would just work on the side and see if he lands anything. What startles me is that in his pursuit of a role, I noticed he strictly searches for roles that revolve around romance. I asked him about this, and he told me he is most interested in pursuing acting within the romance genre; he says thats where he feels the most like himself and feels he can "do his best."

This made me really uncomfortable, and I told him I'm not really comfortable with that because it feels weird to me to see my husband being romantic with other women. I don't really know how else to explain how it makes me feel. I'm not generally a super jealous person, but this just made my stomach churn in all kinds of ways. He told me it's just a job and that there's no real emotion attached to it, which I get, but in that case, why only strictly go for romance roles? Why not do other things? It just feels weird. I've told him multiple times that I don't like it, but now he's just telling me I'm unsupportive of his passions and that he was already nervous to tell me about it and pursue it, and now I'm not supporting him.

AITAH for not wanting him to strictly pursue romance acting and at least try to land other roles if he's so passionate about acting? Or should I just support it and suck it up?

AITAH for accidentally spoiling a movie for someone I wasn't even talking to?

I'm (20TF) and I work in retail, and during one of our slow peaks, I got the chance to talk to my friends that I work with about how I was finally able to watch some of the older Disney movies.

Before anyone asks, yeah, I somehow made it into being an adult without actually seeing those movies. Me and my family weren't really sheltered or anything, my parents weren't a fan of older disney films, so the oldest film at the time that I had watched was shrek. So I was telling my friend what I had thought about some of the more older movies.

Something that I should say is that I'm a pretty loud talker, I'm not yelling across the entire building, but I definitely have a voice that can carry a good distance if I get excited. My friend and I were just having our own conversation in a corner.

While I was talking with them, I was talking about the whole part where snow white is basically breaking and entering. That movie is like ninety plus years old so I didn't think twice about saying that stuff out loud. And that's mainly because either people have already seen it or they know of it.

The problem is apparently one of the new hires had overheard me, even though I wasn't talking to her, and she was never part of the conversation. She came over really upset, and she said that she had never seen that movie and she was upset that I had spoiled it.

I apologize because obviously it wasn't trying to spoil it or anything for her. But the thing is, I wasn't overflowing with guilt. I wasn't even talking to or even near her. And to me, it felt like she was eavesdropping on a conversation that wasn't meant for her rather than me, talking with the intent of her hearing.

I had understand it a lot more if it was about like a newer movie (Like Obession or something). But considering how long the movie has been out? And the fact that it's older than the majority of people alive right now... I don't think I should have cared..

She stayed in a pretty sour mood for the rest of the shift, and she ended up getting in trouble with management because it was affecting her customer service. Later, I was hearing about how she was telling people that I was the reason she was in such a bad mood all day.

And now a part of me is wondering, if maybe I should have been more careful? Or is this one of the situations where you overhear something and it's no one's fault really.

Am I the Asshole?

AIO for being mad and not apologizing to my friends after allegedly making them uncomfortable with my drinking habits?

Genuine question, I'm thinking about this situation all over again and see where I could be wrong but at the same time I can't fully agree with them...

Long story short.a couple of days ago, my (19F) small friend group and I were at our friend sister's 22 birthday party. Of course we're young, there was alcohol, cigarettes, and all this stuff.

It's important to mention that I have absolutely nothing against any of it, I just personally don't drink or smoke.

It has nothing to do with religion or my opinions on right and wrong. It doesn't bother me at all if someone next to me is drinking or smoking, and in my entire life, I have never once shamed anyone for it, that is a strict rule of mine lol

Anyway, at the party, all my friends got a little tipsy. We were chatting, walked the streets in the evening, laughing and joking, and just had a great time overall, and then we all went home like normal.

I didn't notice anything awkward in their behaviour it was just a typical party for people our age. I enjoyed myself, and it seemed to me like my friends were having fun too.

And then today, I receive those chats

I am VERY mad about these accusationsf. As far as I'm concerned, all this holier than thou (which pisses me off as well) bs starts at the moment you try to "educate" other people, which is something I have never done and never want to do. Everyone can live however they want.

Honestly, her accusations made me sad. They seem baseless and aggressive.

But now that I'm thinking about it, maybe it really was uncomfortable for the girls to be drunk around a sober person? I guess it's possible, but it just doesn't feel like the right explanation to me.

If I were some random man for example, their anxiety would be easy to understand. But I've known them for at least a couple of years, and I even went to the same high school with some of them, so their lack of trust in me doesn't make much sense.

Could I be in the wrong here? AIO?

AITAH for telling my mom that she can’t have my twin sister’s bridal shower at the venue Im looking at for my wedding?

I (23 F) am getting married sometime in April ‘27 while my twin sister is getting married November ‘26. I’ve been scheduling tours for various wedding venues that will fit in budget. Today my fiancé, MIL, and my mother toured a beautiful golf park clubhouse. The lady we talked to was kind and transparent and the prices were very reasonable for the amenities. My mom has eaten at their clubhouse before and has always loved the food.

At the end of our conversation for my wedding my mom asked for a quote for my sister’s bridal shower. We then toured two potential rooms with one of them being the bridal suite. My mom decided she liked the room across the hall from the suite. The quote came out to also be reasonable and my mom is excited to choose it.

I told her that I thought it was kind of weird and made me feel a little uncomfortable that she would be hosting a bridal shower at the venue that I would likely choose a few months before my wedding was supposed to be there. She did not see the problem however, my fiancé and future MIL also thought it was strange. I asked my sister and my dad what they thought about it and they agreed with my mom that it was not weird. My dad even said that it’s hard to find venues for a bridal shower and that we should share the venue.

I’m trying to figure out why I am so against it. I feel like it’s my wedding and I shouldn’t have to share a venue with my sister. I also think it was kind of inconsiderate of my mom to derail the conversation towards my sister’s wedding events while we were there for me. I feel like that sounds really bratty and petty on my end though.

So if I went with the venue, would I be the AH for telling my mom to please not have my sister’s bridal shower at the venue?

AITAH for ghosting matches on dating apps because I cannot yet economically provide for them if the relationship gets serious

AITAH (young male, less than 30 years old) for ghosting matches on dating apps because I cannot yet economically provide for them if the relationship gets serious? The important context is that I do not go on dates or have sexual relations with these matches before ghosting?

OR AITAH for not being able to hold a conversation or think of things to talk about on the apps?

AITAH for using dating apps? JK: 77% of people in relationships in America met online (Pew Research, 2024).

AITAH for telling my wife that I wouldn't have to play video games if she actually spent any time with me?

Ok, so my wife and I (both mid/late 40s) have been married for 20 years and together for 25. Our bedroom has been dead for the past two. Not just dead. Cremated and spread at sea. Practically 0 affection at all. I can count how many times she's kissed me during that time one one hand, and they were all like the kind of kiss you'd get from your mom. 😕

There's also an issue of us not spending much time together unless it has to do with the kids. Well, today the kids are all gone for a class trip, so I asked if she wanted to come along to the race track where I sing the National Anthem. I don't insist that we stay for the whole time, or even 1 race, but the pre-race is cool. I have full access to the facility, so we're able to check out a lot of cool stuff. They also feed us, and everyone is usually down for a free lunch. She said no. Not that she had other things she needed or wanted to do, because there wasn't. She just didn't want to go.

Well, I just got back from the track. National Anthem went off without a hitch. But as soon as I walked through the door she starts griping at me about a new video game I bought. I'm not a super huge gamer or anything, but I like to play racing games sometimes and that's what I bought.

She started going in on me about spending money on something like that, saying the game is for children and that I need to find grown up hobbies. I just told her that if she actually expressed interest in spending time with me I wouldn't have to resort to video games.

That was enough for her and she left.

AITAH for basically telling my wife that I had to resort to childish hobbies because she basically abandoned me?

Also, this is not a financial issue. Will live pretty comfortably and buying one game isn't going to come close to breaking us.
