Is there any reason Caltrain doesn’t run the diesel Gilroy trains from SF directly to Gilroy to avoid the transfer at Diridon?

From what I can gather Caltrain originally planned on still having 8 diesel powered trains per day (the 8 Gilroy trains) north of San Jose, but for whatever reason they changed their minds. Any particular reason?

[2005] I guess 3 random dudes don’t understand the dot-com bubble burst 5 years ago, because these guys have moved into this office above this pizzeria to start some video sharing website called “YouTube”. This won’t last a year.

Fast pass unused at amusement park due to 50 story rides

Took kids to amusement park for the first time. Pre paid fast pass. Older child is right in the age for big rides. We get there and all the big rides are too tall, scary or fast. The latest craze to build the biggest fastest rides makes the entire park not fun even for kids. They made the traditional swing ride 50 storeys high! There’s a similar height water slide that’s a vertical drop that someone was killed on.

What happened to the scrambler? Gravity tron?
Pirate ship swing?

Help Janice?

This is ridiculous!

Caltrain, I’m at my wits end

30 minute delay today. 30. MINUTES. Another round of this and I’m officially defecting to the highway. Would’ve done that a while ago if my school didn’t pay for gopass. I’m sick & tired of it all.

YSK that Stab-Lok circuit breakers (mainly manufactured by Federal Pacific) are a major fire hazard

Why YSK: These breakers are known to the Consumer Product Safety Commission to not trip when overloaded causing fire. When tested by the CPSC, an average of 51% of breakers failed to trip. These breakers are in basically any house in the US built before 1990. The problem with them is the fact that they use a poor design without this next problem, but the ones made specifically by Federal Pacific had their certifications falsified. The Federal Pacific ones are the *really* bad ones, the others are bad, but the Federal Pacific ones are the ones with a 51% failure rate. The branding on these panels is pretty predominant, you don’t exactly need to be an electrician to know what brand it is. Another reason to replace them is the fact that getting insurance for a house with a Stab-Lok panel is literally impossible. No insurer will touch it. Seriously, if you have one, get it replaced. It might save your house, and possible even your life.

Still safe to use this outlet?

On the lower plug there’s a little burn mark. Was caused by me accidentally hitting something plugged into it with my leg and ripping it out. At the time it had tripped the breaker but I just noticed it’s also slightly burnt. Is this still fine to use or not?

U.S. FCC approved giant space mirror to deliver 'sunlight on demand'

Despite hundreds of public comments opposing a giant space mirror that would shine a beam of light roughly five kilometers wide back down to Earth, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has given the green light.
