The utter hypocrisy of this comment is incredible

I found this comment in part one of AniMat's takedown of the animation community's toxicity and it really astounds me how so much hypocrisy is in this comment as AniMat talks about how bad it is that people are waging into fan wars where fans of one studio are attacking Disney and here, we have one of his fanboys doing the same thing onto DreamWorks. Bear in mind that this fan is notorious for attacking DreamWorks while shilling for Disney like AniMat with Sony.

Robert Downey Jr., Harrison Ford, Honor Bob Iger at Disney Legends

Possibly the lowest moment of D23 as Iger singlehandedly ruined Disney's reputation with his greed and yet, he gets rewarded for it but at least he's gone.

Hayden Panettiere, the actress who played princess Dot from A Bug's Life, passed away.

I wish the family nothing but the best thanks for everything, Hayden. Whether it was as the lovable ant princess Dot from A Bug's Life or Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, she'll be dearly missed. Fly high, Hayden

Feelings and expectations for D23 this year?

Tomorrow will be the inaugural day for this year's D23 and it'll be the first D23 Expo under the watch of Josh D'Amaro and with that, how are you guys feeling? Do you guys think we'll get some actual good stuff underway now that Bob Iger is gone or will it be more or less the same disappointments of before?

As D23 is coming, they'll not only do a PJO panel but also showing previews for the show.

Bring in flowers, folks, because I have a feeling the show, despite the pomp and circumstances, is still on life support

2023 was a crazy year for Spider-Man

I mean, you get a beautifully done Spider-Man sequel since Spider-Man 2 and all-around great animated movie but on the flipside, you get a horrific fan film done by a Spider-Man fan who hates Spider-Man and he, and two of the actors in the movie are awful people and all released in the same year

Judging by their treatment of animation, what studio can we do without?

As it says on the tin, what is one major Hollywood studio that thanks to their treatment of animation, you guys feel they should just go away, not necessarily shutting them down but just not doing animation ever again?

Is Hotel Transylvania 5 a bargaining chip for Black Knight?

As many of us know, Genndy Tartakovski's project Black Knight was put on ice because of how Sony was completely unsure of how to market it as either for kids or teens (like with Titan AE back in 2000) and with The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania coming up, I'm wondering that given how the Hotel Transylvania series is Genndy's brainchild, I was wondering if HT5 was a bargaining chip for Sony in the hopes Black Knight will see the light of day, as in Genndy offering Sony that 5th installment, along with the upcoming TV show, in the hopes for the movie to be made.

Maybe I'm looking to deep into it but what do you folks think?

Reflecting on Afterword: Matt Braly's tragedy (in Sony's eyes)

If there was one news story that really did rock the animation community, it would be the cancelation of Afterworld, Matt Braly and Rebecca Sugar's project for Sony Pictures Animation about a young boy whose hospitalized for an illness as he needs to get an operation and goes into the Thai spirit realm to find a cure, only to find out there is none and has to live with it.

Yet, despite how everything seemed like smooth sailing, Sony canceled it as according to Matt, it wasn't commercial enough to produce and canceled it and many people were not only angry but betrayed given how they hit it big with Spider-Verse, Mitchells and KDH and were put on a high pedestal as the best animation studio out there and to cancel it made people feel that they were risk-averse and hate originality like any other animation studio, thus, proving why you should never put studios on high pedestals as they can unleash flaws you may not be prepared for or like.

But on another note, I was thinking about what exactly caused Sony to cancel the project as they sounded rather vague about and I believe that while unfortunate (and I'm not trying to defend Sony's actions), it's not as black and white as the animation community puts it as yes, many animation studios are risk averse but hating originality may not have been what killed Afterworld but rather the hospital setting, the fact that an actual illness was used as the framing device for the story and how the kid finds no cure to his illness, hence why to Sony's eyes, the movie was probably seen as a tragedy.

I do acknowledge that this story was based on Matt's personal life as he also has a chronic illness and it's not a terminal illness but to a studio out that wants to sell movies as escapism and just wants happy endings, they probably saw Afterworld as too real and too tragic to sell and pull the plug on it.

Thankfully, it was rescued by a Thai indie studio but to me, this story illustrates why sometimes, you shouldn't put studios on high pedestals but also how it's not that studios hate originality but they just want happy endings

Empathizing with the "Disney Hate"

This will be a follow-up to a post I made regarding on people glazing Sony and DreamWorks while attacking Disney.

For one, yes, I agree worshipping a studio like they were Gods is rather cringy. After all, it's why AniMat has gotten hate!

Joking aside, there are corporations run by sociopaths who probably so it's wild why some might worship a studio with utmost devotion, despite how they're as guilty as any other such as what my post was encompassing as it was of how animation fans elevated Sony and DreamWorks while knocking down Disney.

On one hand, it's ridiculous but on the other hand, given how disappointing Disney's output has been to where everything feels like Bob Iger's vanity projects from Strange World to Wish, I can't say that I blame them for feeling this way, especially as, admittedly, other studios have been doing better and I guess feeling so fed up with the constant disappointments of Disney, people found solace with other studios but eventually, they became more tribalistic and viewed anything new by Disney with disdain thanks to past failures to where even though Iger is gone, they started hating on Hexed and I think Gatto even before they came out while showing us why the other studios were better, despite showing flaws.

So overall, those are my stances. They may act cringe at best and toxic at worst but given how bad Disney has been going, can't say I blame them.

For a future NC episode, how about Cheaper by the Dozen?

For a future NC episode, I would love to see him cover this Steve Martin remake of the 1950 movie of the same name that despite having a legendary comedy star, it was not good enough to save this big mess

Zerex's long comment to AniMat regarding Hexed (and a rather toxic fan)

As we all know, Zerex has made three videos on AniMat and in AniMat's podcast about the trailers for Shrek 5 and Hexed, he left this rather long comment expressing his thoughts.

Like his videos, it's long, often repetitive, drawn out but nothing insulting, right?

Despite this, one of AniMat's most toxic fans, Jonathan Pinzon, came in with this rather hostile comment acting like his white knight and this is not the only time he's been so hostile.

If the sequel dove deep into Demon Hunters from around the world, what countries and genres should they feature?

Since everyone, including the filmmakers, have been exploring ideas of similar demon-hunting musicians from around the globe, what countries and genres should they explore if the sequel dives into this concept?

To me, it would be great if they shined a light into Sweden as the country is considered a pop powerhouse with many of their citizens becoming huge pop stars, most notably ABBA.

Another one is Mexico as it is a country known for its musical traditions and lore and we can't forget the longstanding relationship between South Korea and Mexico further strengthened by the World Cup.

And speaking of Mexico, it would be nice if they featured a country Mexico also sees as their best friend as its a nation of myth and music and that would Ireland and I can imagine their style would be not that different than groups like Celtic Woman, complete with a girl who uses her violin as her musical voice.

Possibilities are endless, folks.

I really hate how everything from the books is treated as insignificant

"It's not important important to the story"

If there is one thing that has always bothered me about the show is how all the quirks and various things about the characters and settings that give the original books their charm and spark are treated with so much insignificance to where they take it off and brush it off as "not important"

Whether it be stuff like Percy's actual personality of being a smart-Alec, Grover looking older, the elf-like appearances of the Herme's campers, Clarisse looking more brawny and tomboyish, Hephaestus' ugliness, Thalia actually looking goth or even characters altogether from Argus to Silena to Beckendorf and even the twins.

And, of course, it extends to the action scenes with so much cuts to black and, sadly, Percy's dyslexia and ADHD where the show treats it like it doesn't exists.

Now, I know some of that stuff can be arguably not important to the story in the grand scheme of things but that stuff also adds in to the uniqueness, personality and vibe of the story and some may call it trimming the fat but at this point, this is just losing the flavor.

What if they met: Book Annabeth vs Show Annabeth

I don't know if someone already did this but given how many people accepted that none of the characters are accurate to their book counterparts, here's something that's been on my mind: what if the book characters met their show counterparts? Would they be friends or enemies?

Let's start off with Annabeth. How would the two Annabeths think of each others?
