Statement from Melissa Nold (attorney) re: VPD Badge Bending report from the city

The city must think the people in Vallejo are ignorant and gullible. For the City of Vallejo to claim the badge bending wasn’t a notch on the officers’ belts is asinine. To hold that report for 5 years is a testament to the city’s lack of transparency. All these years just to release a report that shows how ridiculous their investigation was. A clownish sham pulled off by the circus that is city hall.

When Angel Ramos was on his porch in 2017, unarmed and in his boxers, Officer Zach Jacobsen shot him several times in the chest. Angel was in a fist fight and the officer would stand on a lie that was disproved by officer testimony and physical evidence, falsely claiming that Angel was stabbing someone at the time he opened fire. His badge was bent after the shooting. Angel’s family protested and were targeted by officers who came by their home to harass them and harassed and threatened them in public places. The officer left as soon as the civil case settled and took a disability retirement.

When Officer Ryan McMahon came in contact with Ronell Foster in 2018, unarmed Ronell was riding a bicycle. Ronell ran from the officer and he began attacking Ronell. Ronell was stuck in the head with a flashlight several times. As he was crawling away, the officer shot him in the back and in the back of the head. An execution. After murdering Ronell, Officer McMahon’s badge was bent by Officer Jacobsen, who murder Angel the year before. McMahon was fired more than a year later for his wild actions during the Willie McCoy lynching.

There has been testimony that the badge bends were to acknowledge the officers’ survival in difficult situations. One officer called it his badge of honor. But please tell me when either of those officers’ lives were in danger or their survival in question? What part of honor includes bending your badge after shooting an unarmed man?

Those were notches on their belts. Anyone pretending otherwise is a liar or a dolt. There’s no middle ground.

And we only know about the badge bending because Captain John Whitney spoke to Open Vallejo and later testified about it, not because the city wanted to be transparent. The city attorney, city manager Nyhoff and your friend former Mayor Sampayan knew about the badge bending for a year before story broke. They tried to hide the ritual and hoped it would go away.

During that year everyone on the dais scowled at the impacted families and did nothing to support police reform, while knowing about the badge bending they were hiding. The city only ‘investigated’ the badge bending a year later because it was in the news and Chief Williams was at the helm.

History matters.
Truth matters.
Impacted lives matter.

Predictions for 2027 & 2028?

With blink announcing major headline dates at European music festivals next summer, it's likely that blink is gearing up for some major world tour runs next year.

What do you predict for 27 and 28?

When will a new album be announced? When will it come out? When will they start recording/writing?

What kind of music styles or influences do you expect?

Is it just an EU tour or do they add NA dates, or even go to Asia and elsewhere??

What do you think is next for blink?
