My baby hiding from the fireworks and thunder 😩

She's a bit spooked by all the noise. I've got white noise, used thicker window shades to absorb noise, and have AC going (although it's a mini split so it's very quiet). Can't wait for this all to be over. Not everyone likes fireworks and loud noises.

First spray tan ever using the VersaPro and I think I messed up 😩

I followed the instructions inside the booth, and the girl at the front desk said it would walk me through everything. One thing it didn't do was tell me how to positions my arms and hands, and when I come out, my right arm was significantly darker then my left.
Also, my lower body is not as dark as my upper body. Had this happened to anyone else?
I would try it again though- now I know what to expect but it was tricky for a first timer.

Period ended a week ago and started spotting today... this has never happened before and I am def not pregnant

I will add for context- I'm 42 so I'm wondering if this is the start of perimenopause???
Also- I do have an upcoming obgyn appt next week for my annual and mammogram. And of course will be discussing this with my doctor....
Just curious does this happen to anyone who gets regular periods, not on birth control, and also haven't been sexually active in almost a year 😳

Dealing with ppl trying to sabotage your weight loss, and treating myself for progress made (A dual subject post)

Anyone else find it frustrating when you're really pushing through on this journey, and then all of a sudden it's someone's bday at work and your coworker is peer pressuring you have to a slice of cake or whatever. That happened today, I said No thanks, and they still left a big fat piece of cake on my desk and said "Cmon, you HAVE to have some it's SO good".... ummm No means No?? I should not have to explain myself when I've already said No thank you. Ughh 😖
Also- I've seen a lot of other posts about how to treat yourself when you've made progress- without it being food- so I did that today. I'm very proud of how consistent I've been (minus a few bad days here and there), so I treated myself to a facial at a really nice spa by me. The scalp massage at the end was the best part- let me just say scalp massages are soo underrated!!!
I could have spent the same amount of $ going out to dinner with a friend and eating like a total savage. But now I'm relaxed and my skin is glowy. Already looking forward to another "treat" when I do my next weigh-in 💆🏻‍♀️

Just watched the movie Disclosure Day in the theaters- instantly recognized several scenes that were in White Plains. Anyone else who saw the movie catch these scenes?

Also an editing fail at the end- the movie takes place in Kansas City but they had a White Plains bus shown in one scene letting passengers out.

Busted!!! Someone tore into those powdered donuts... and it wasn't me!

And she doesn't even feel bad about it!

Women back in the day used to be on bed rest during their period. Now we are forced to suck it up and just shove a tampon in.

It's such bullsh*t. We should be allowed at least one day a month to use as a paid "Period leave" for when we're bleeding. Ughh the cramps, bloating, fatigue, mood swings, hormonal acne, and cravings... it's pure hell. And we're just expected to go about our business like nothings happening inside our uterus 🥴
Men will never understand. We are tortured every month for decades until it all ends and then we're left with no more "redeeming" qualities.
😭😖😖
I'm just cranky and tired on my period- can you tell?? 😂

Just scheduled my CTS surgery (open) for next month on my dominant hand- any suggestions for what made your life easier post-op?

I live alone and I'm already anxious about not being able to use my right hand for a while during the recovery

Does anyone know what was going on at Big Snow today in NJ?

They built up these tracks in the middle- but they closed it off at the top by the time I got there so no one was using them.

Progress.... FINALLY!!!

I can't believe I'm halfway through to my goal weight. It felt like the weight was NOT coming off the first 2 months. But that magic moment finally happened. I FEEL better from head to toe.
I know that I will have to stay consistent once I'm in the maintenance phase. I'm sure I'll have bad days and overindulge, but I'm committed to the formula- Calories In, Calories Out, and getting right back on track the next day with a deficit.
I am someone who has always struggled to lose weight (and having a thyroid disorder has made it very difficult), and it's not just one thing that made the difference- it's dozens of changes I've made consciously. But the most important factor, and something I found the most difficult as well, is tracking calories. It's SO easy to go over my calorie limit for the day, so it's something I'll have to take into account for the long haul.
This community on here is extremely supportive, and a lot of people have given me great tips on previous posts. So thank you all :)
And please my friends- DON'T give up. I'm rooting for you all :)

Does anyone else find it frustrating working against your own body "shape" when trying to lose weight?

Once I hit puberty, I realized my body shape was more round around my waist and stomach, basically "apple shaped". I was always envious of pear shaped women because they appeared to have smaller waists. So whenever I gain weight, it is ALWAYS in my stomach and waist. My legs, hips and butt never get thicker. My arms and face will show weight gain as well, but never my lower body. A few people have asked if I was pregnant during my heaviest weights :/

Ironically, when I've lost weight, the first area I see it is my legs. They get even smaller. I do workout a lot, so my legs have always been muscular but scrawny when compared to my bigger waist and upper body. It takes forever to see the weight loss around my stomach and waist.

Is there a way to beat your own genetics (aside from surgery) or do I just keep fighting my apple shape?
