We were both atheists (at least I still am). Then her father passed away. She became deeply depressed and even suicidal. I was confused because I’ve also lost family members, but it didn’t affect me nearly as much. What made it even more confusing is that she didn’t even like her dad very much.

A close friend of mine from a family of missionaries who died for their faith suggested that becoming Christian might help reduce her depression. I thought, “Why not?” and made a genuine effort to show her the love of Jesus. She did start feeling better, but then she swung extremely hard into religion. After some time she went back to atheism, and now she’s moderately Christian she says she has “surrendered to Christ.”

Her mood has been quite unstable since then.

I also hurt her badly. One day she came into the room while I was watching a dance reel on Instagram and casually asked who was more beautiful her or the girl in the video. Without thinking, I stupidly answered that the girl on Instagram was hot. She got furious and kicked me out of the room. We patched things up later, but it was a dumb mistake.

On top of that, she had a big conflict with her brother. He’s pressuring her to marry early and using emotional blackmail. This made her even more depressed and pushed her further toward religion.

Right now she is doing somewhat better, but she still struggles. Her sleep schedule is messed up, she’s constantly tired and stressed because of college. Her studies have suffered badly due to her mental health. She’s lost several kilos and barely eats.

Seeing her sad makes me feel depressed too. I have my own semester exams coming up, and I’m exhausted. It feels like everything negative is happening at once.

We don’t have money for a therapist right now. Another difficulty is the distance: my college is in a rural area (because it needed a large campus), while she lives in the city. We only meet on weekends and talk online the rest of the time.

One more complication even though she is moving toward Christianity, her family is not Christian at all.

My missionary friend, who gave the original suggestion, is now leaving India for Edinburgh. His actual plan wasn’t even for her to stay religious. He hoped she would experience Christianity, feel the love of Jesus, and then use that Christian worldview as a foundation before eventually returning to atheism. But in her case, that plan failed right from the beginning.

Money I don't have that much money currently for therapist. Propblem is as my college is some rural area(college needed land) and my gf in city we are together only on weekends others days online.

Problem one more although she is going Christian direction her family is not Christian.

As for my friend he is leaving India and going to Edinburgh. My friends plan for her was not even her be religious he desire towards people is Orginal Religion convert to Christianity then experience Christianity and love of Jesus then use the Christianity Worldview as foundation and be atheist but that plan in her cases failed at start.

My dad had 2 gf in his entire life. One when he was near 22 other at 25(My mother). They met during travel then in pub then in Hotel then marriage.

My mom a veg Hindu who never touches meat
