Looksmaxing has genuinely affected my self esteem so much as a teen

I honestly don’t know where to start with this post other than over the past 6 months i’ve slowly been getting less and less confident about my face and to be honest everything about myself as my tiktok feed has just been covered in blackpill and looksmaxing content.

The start of this year I started randomly getting looksmaxing memes and tiktok’s on my fyp and it slowly started getting more and more prominent on my feed. At first I just looked at it as some stupid trend but for some reason it started going to my head. All of a sudden I started getting insecurities i never even realized about myself. Apparently my jawline is recessed, I have too narrow of a pallet, i have facial torsion, nasiolabal folds, my nose is uneven, I have hip dips, and just even more stupid things that affect a lot of my daily life now. Especially the hip dips as there was an entire thing about hating on hip dips and how they’re ugly on social media recently which made me hate them even more.

I feel stupid to even let this get to my head especially because i’m a girl and most of this stuff is targeted towards men but it’s literally just all consuming now, I’ve never thought of myself to be too ugly but I genuinely feel like i’m the ugliest person on the planet now. I’ve always been a bit insecure about my looks as I know my face is a tad asymmetrical and I also have scoliosis which i’m very insecure about but it’s gotten so bad it’s just ruining my entire life.

I take photos of myself every month to make sure I don’t get uglier, compare photos from the last months, and every 2 seconds at school open my camera app to make sure that I look decent.

How do I stop thinking about this? Ive never been this insecure about myself till I started seeing these videos and now that i’ve seen them I can’t stop thinking about it.

Heres a photo of what i look like, i might delete the link later cuz i dont want my friends finding my reddit acc lmao too embarrassing.

Jobs similar to accounting

Hi everyone! I’m currently a junior in high school and as I’m getting closer to graduate, I’m trying to think of the type of career I want when I graduate. I was originally thinking of accounting, but I want to do something with more action and creative thinking involved. I still want to do something with finance, I’m just not sure what other type of jobs are similar to accounting that are a little bit more interactive and fulfilling. Any ideas?

Question about the wrong prescription with toric lenses

hi everyone, I’m a first time contact user I’m on day three of my trial contacts. I feel like they might be a little off. I think the astigmatism might be a little off. I can’t really read stuff off my phone. It kind of gives me like very blurry vision, but my optometrist said that it’s normal for your to be blurry for the first couple of days so do you guys think I should wait out the seven days that they last and then call them or maybe call them now and say I think that I might have the wrong prescription.

Feeling frustrated as a teen looking for a job

Hi all! As the title suggests i’m so frustrated and i’m not gonna lie, a little angry that I cannot find any type of job that will hire me as a teen. I’ve applied to more than 40 jobs and just feel stuck.

I live in a pretty small town so it’s already hard enough to find a job here, let alone one that hires teens. Almost all of the corporate business too like starbucks, dutch, taco bell, and ross in my town don’t even hire teens and only choose to hire 18+.

I’ve started calling small businesses in my town to ask if they’re hiring but they all say no, and even started calling the places i applied to online but they all still ghosted my applications. Ive gotten so desperate that I even started apply for jobs outside of my town to the town over since they have a much bigger population than us, but still it’s about a 30-40 minute drive from my house which wouldn’t be ideal but I just don’t even care anymore. I’ve gotten one interview for a Chic Fil A that they were building in the town and unfortunately they didn’t hire me. I’ve even tried creating my own small businesses like a window painting company because I love drawing but no one in my town seemed to be interested in, even though I really low balled my prices and it was like $30 for an entire window painting while most people charge $100+.

Is there anything that i’m doing wrong? I’ve even gotten denied by the most stereotypical teen jobs like the movie theater, basic retail stores, and just fast food places that I feel like a lot of teens would work at! And it’s not like I have zero experience either, I sell concessions at my local school sporting events and stock and sell school merch at them too which are both things I added to my resume. So yeah, jus feeling a bit frustrated here.

stressed as a rising highschool junior

I’m gonna be a Junior next school year and I just feel so behind.

Recently i’ve been compairing myself to a lot of what my other classmates have done and i feel like I haven’t really made much of an impact which will be good for college aps.

I have decent grades, All a’s and b’s but didnt realky take school super seriously till Sophomore year. Freshman year I filled up my elective slots with “fun” electives when I really should’ve done educational ones. At my highschool you arnt required to do bio till Sophomore year, and I didn’t do it looks like I kinda slacked off because of that.

I’m not interested in sports as I just workout on my own time and don’t really have many ec’s. I joined CSF this year and did some volunteering, and started a blog for a passion project i’m working on, but other than that I haven’t done anything else. I also took a college course online this year through my local CC so I think that might’ve been good but other than that I just feel so much more behind then everyone else.

Im afraid my Junior year will look sloppy since i’m planning to join some clubs finally to get more ec’s. I’m also regretting not doing a summer program that was offered to me since it would’ve looked amazing in my resume but you would’ve had to stay in a college from for 6 weeks straight and I just know I couldn’t do that.

Any advice on what I should do so I can get into a good college?

Looking to make a support group for teens living with scoliosis!

Hi everyone! My names Lulu and I run a blog on Instagram for other teens like me living with scoliosis. It’s called morethanacurve !

I‘ve recently been trying to start up a online support group for teens with scoliosis meant to meet other people with the condition, to do activities with eachother (EX: Paint Nights, Karaoke Nights) and to also share with eachother ways to cope with the disability!

Its been hard for me to find applicants so far as I have such a small following on Instagram, but I was wondering if any of the people here on the subreddit would be interested to join!

The only requirements are:

  • Be under the age of 18
  • Have a spinal disability (Doesn’t just have to be scoliosis)
  • And be committed!

For more information about everything please look at the Insta post below, and habe a scroll through my page! Id your interested in the support group, please drop a comment below or a DM on Insta!

Frustrated I can’t find a job as a teen

As the title suggests, I’m just so frustrated trying to get a job as a teen. I’m 16 and have decent experience in places like fast food and selling merchandise as I’m in my school’s leadership and work concessions at every sporting event and sell merch for my school.

I live in a decently small down and no joke i’ve applied to every single place that’s hiring and have gotten all rejections, i’ve gotten so desperate i started applying for the town over that has a bigger population but i just didn’t wanna do that in the first place since the drive is a little longer.

I literally need a job so I can save up for college but no one is willing to hire me and I have zero idea what to do.

Hi Reddit!

I know, this title sounds literally crazy but it’s true, when i turn 18 which will be in 2 years from now, my dad will turn 80.

i’ve been needing to get this off my chest for such a long time because I just feel like no one has ever experienced this but me. I love my dad so much, he’s probably the best person in my life, I have mom issues and he’s always been there for me so I’m really appreciative of that but I cannot get around the fact why he’d have a child so late in life. It strains me every day to think I probably won’t have my father at my wedding, or won’t have a father when I make big achievements later in my life. I’m genuinely so terrified of when he dies, I know I’ll be a complete wreck because he’s just a really big part of my life, but I also just get so angry and frustrated at the fact he did this to me, why would you have a child If you know you’re not gonna be there for them 40 years from now. it’s such a confusing conflicting situation for me. I have two older brothers. They’re both in their 30s and well along their life, I’m kind of an outcast in my family that way as I’m the only one that’s my age range in my family, so I’ve always felt kind of different from everyone else. I was born at an awkward time where all of my cousins were getting off high school and going to college and all of my aunts and uncles were starting to settle down and retire.

Thanks to whoever read this, just needed to talk about my frustrations and stuff
