Where in the EU can I find genuinely sharp hair scissors?

(I'm not in the US, so please don't tell me to go to Sally's lol thank you)

After very quickly realising my old scissors have become too blunt, I got two new pairs. One from a beauty shop, they were trash, I immediately binned them. Then I got some from a more professional shop with expensive hair products (the brand is Fox Blue Rose) and yet I still feel like they're not good enough. I cut way above the "white dots" that are my split ends, but when I look at the freshly cut cuticle, I feel like hmmm, I don't see a clear dot or split anymore, but I feel like there is a microscopic spot where the hair becomes a bit lighter than the rest (making me think it was, again, broken rather than cut sharply enough).

These are supposed to be good scissors though and only have positive reviews online, compared to other brands. I do a lot of search and destroy and layering with my hair, so blunt scissors will end up destroying it at various different lengths. I will try to return them, but idk where to buy anymore without having to pay prices that professional saloons pay.

Does anyone with any experience have any advice? Or anyone in Europe (non UK) that has any affordable scissor recommendations?

EDIT: I took a large chunk off and they definitely break hair instead of gliding through it. Man, these were €25. Not a lot for a working person, but a lot when you're a student.

Anyone not a fresher and still looking for some new friends

All my friends were from the years above, have now graduated, and moved far away. Starting from September onwards I will be mostly friendless again, which is sort of dull for third year. Anyone in a similar position and want to hang out lol

That cursed mannequin face bug in employee uniforms

Btw you can easily fix this by using SimBlender or some other god tool that lets you change appearance of a sim. Just thought I'll share for those who aren't used to seeing this lol

Anyone else avoid playing with cars and mobile phones?

Just a random question. The two things I hate my life being consumed by, so I enjoy playing a world where they're not really a thing. Can anyone relate?

People who still play their very old hoods - what's the most generations you got up to in your rotational gameplay?

Especially for those who have started their own custom hoods and so played everything from scratch.

I have played (semi) rotationally pretty much all my life and have stayed with the same neighbourhood since around 2020, but combining longer lifespans, slow and intricate worldbuilding, and more writing than actually playing, I only managed to get up to generation 3 so far, and I probably won't get to gen 4 until mid 2027. I was wondering how often do people actually manage to get to gen 5, 6 or more while playing rotationally instead of some legacy challenges or focusing on just one bloodline. I am also really curious what it's like to play a hood like that - as in, do you have to consciously end some bloodlines just to not overpopulate the hood? Is it much harder to avoid relationships within families down the line? Does inheritance money and stuff get more fun? Is it a bit sad to play the same houses you did with gen 1 but in completely different circumstances? Is it harder to get attached to the new Sims, do you still miss playing the "founders" of the hood? Etc etc.

Personally I don't really like giving myself hard rules like "no more than two children per family" even if it's way more sensible, so I got into unconventional family setups kinda gameplay where having too many babies is not really a problem long term (so far). Also, I even keep some sims as sort of immortal, just because I like them being semi-townies forever. Maybe it helps that I don't have any game-generated townies to massively overpopulate. Anyway, I'm just mentioning this because I'm curious what kind of setups people with such old saves have. Please let me know!

Gdzie niedaleko Wrocławia pociągiem do natury?

Formal dresses, just dresses in general, ugh

The time has come, I have been invited to a wedding I truly don't want to attend, and here we are. I believe I can dress really well for my body type on the day to day basis, because I'm quite alternative in nature and not afraid of wacky fits that work for ME. However, I am lost when it comes to formal party wear. I love long skirts, but hate dresses. Nothing seems to work on me well. I have short legs (stage 2 lipodema), a flat stomach, fairly large breasts, very wide shoulders, quite thin arms. I would hate to draw attention to my legs during this wedding, as I'm not super friendly or comfortable with the couple, and they are quite judgy people.

Does anyone have any favourite long dresses that they feel confident and their best in? All of the ones I see online are either too wedding bride like, or very matronal, nothing that's simply elegant without showing legs through a slit. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Fasting and gut imbalances (IBS, SIBO)

This is not a medical advice post! Just a question whether anyone else experienced the same.

A few years ago I was very big on long water fasts and couple-of-days dry fasts. Pretty much right after I got onto that lifestyle, I developed what I know now is SIBO: a high imbalance in the microbiome that causes severe stomach bloating and pain after eating a wide variety of foods. Doctor said fasting is the reason, as beneficial bacteria was starved. I was wondering if any of you here experienced anything similar? I want to get back to fasting, but now that my stomach is finally under control (after three years of this food intolerances) I really want to take care of it well.

I think that's quite neat!

How can I use my Cambodian spices creatively?

I am not a cooking beginner, but I am suffering from lack of variety lately. I eat a lot of SEA food at home. I have brought three spice mixes from Cambodia to Europe:

Shrimp Tom Yum spice mix Khmer Red Curry spice mix Banana Powder (I think this is literally pure banana powder, nothing spice about it)

I only bought them because I can't get them specifically in Europe (though I can get Tom yum or red curry paste) so I was curious to make something that will taste new to me. Of course I know what tom yum and red curry is, but I wanted to try something that isn't just those dishes. The spice mixes don't list any ingredients. Does anyone have any non-obvious recipe ideas on how to use them? Especially the banana powder, I don't really want to make desserts with it, I was thinking savoury.

Thanks!

CC that looks like the OG render art

I've been looking at the cover art for the old Sims 2 boxes and instructions, and I keep thinking it's just truly great. It still looks better than Sims 4 renders, which is impressive for a game from 2004. I was wondering if there's any CC that looks more like this above? it's almost like the in-game, but just a bit more smoothed out and a bit cooler lol, if you know what I mean? I wish my game looked more like this. I haven't really enjoyed ReShade or anything, it strains my eyes and it never looks quite right. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? Not just quite maxis-match stuff, because that's often quite blocky and chunky still, but just a bit smoother and more like the renders above. It makes me so nostalgic!

Where can I find biang biang noodles?

Willing to travel on the metro, so as long as it's accessible from Yuexiu. I had Laowanhui back in hk and I want more.

Would appreciate if a less spicy option available (yes, I know, I'm too white for the spice 😿)

Cafe that has windows onlooking pretty/paintable buildings

I know, very specific. I want to take my friend on a drawing/painting date to an AC'd cafe where we can sit at a window and sip on drinks while drawing the view outside. Therefore, I'd like to know where I can find spots in central KL like that (we'll be meeting around pasar seni, but obviously can walk/mrt) where the view would be paintable. Photo of petaling just for reference because that building is super cute. Very grateful if anyone answers 🙏

What exactly was this greeting gesture used in an orang asli village?

Hello. I am an exchange student in Malaysia. I recently visited an orang asli village in Pahang with someone who used to live there. When we greeted the villagers, the person greeted each and every person present (about 20 people!) by cupping their hands in theirs and then pointing their hands onto their chest. Of course out of respect, I proceeded to do the same. It was very well received, though one man refused me (I am a woman). Does this greeting gesture have any specific name, or is tied to any specific region/culture/ethnicity? I tried searching it up on Google, but found nothing. Was it possible that the man refused to greet me like this because he was Muslim? He was not the head of the village.

I am simply curious about this custom because it's the most beautiful greeting gesture I have ever seen, and my experience was extremely positive. I have not seen it anywhere else yet despite being friends with locals of many different backgrounds. Thank you to anyone who decides to take their time to answer.

Any ideas what caused my lot camera to go crazy?

I entered a lot just fine today, but when I loaded up the next one, all lots in the hood ended up with the camera all crazy like this. The lot objects are responsive, but I can't really zoom in on it properly. The only one that works normally is one that is inhabited by sims and playable. This just feels extremely random and I feel quite distressed ):

I use GunMod Camera mod 3.1 since many years and everything was fine until now. Please can anyone help?

I guess you could say it's well-travelled

Never seen a split that big. My ends-ends look perfect, but the nape suffers a lot, as it's hard to reach with s&d.

(Sorry for the random post)

Taking a gap in uni for internship

I don't have an internship secured for the entire length required by the university to classify it as a "placement year" within my degree, but I do have a 6 month one that could be extended to a year as time goes on. Is there any reason why I couldn't take a break from my studies officially, go do the internship (without notifying the university about the whole sandwich year thing) and then just come back next October to do third year as normal? Has anyone you know done this instead of going the official route?
