An update for everyone who told me postpartum night sweats would just go away after a few weeks

so a year ago i posted here desperate because i was waking up freezing and soaked during every middle of the night feed and everyone said it’s just hormones give it time. well the hormone dump slowed down but the overheating didn’t stop until i finally stopped stressing over my tracking data and changed what i was sleeping on. i spent way too much time researching the best ways to deal with those awful night time body temperature spikes and post-pregnancy sweats, eventually realizing that getting proper cooling gear like specialized cooling sheets completely changed my sanity.

i’m posting this because i see so many tired moms thinking they are broken when really their bedding is just holding onto all that body heat. it gets so much better once you find stuff that actually lets your skin breathe during those chaotic first months.

PTHP install done... but am I just lucky or did I get it right?

Okay, so I finally got my PTHP installation wrapped up, and I’m pretty excited — though still a little nervous. I went with a Midea unit because it seemed like the right fit for my space, and so far it’s been running really well. It’s heating the space impressively, even down to around 5°F, which honestly surprised me.

I had a contractor handle the installation and the more technical parts, while I helped with some of the prep and made sure everything matched what I needed for the space. Since this is my first time dealing with a system like this, I was expecting more issues, but so far it’s been smoother than I thought.

I’ve heard the Midea PTHP can be a little tricky depending on the setup, so I’m wondering if others here have experience with this unit. Does this sound like I’m on the right track, or are there any common install details I should double-check after the fact?

Heavy-shedding dog + tangled vacuums = nightmare. Which robot vac works best for this in 2026?

I’ve got a golden retriever (the shedding machine of the dog world) and honestly, it’s like I live in a constant furry chaos. The thing is, regular vacuums and robot vacuums just don’t seem to handle it. After a few minutes, they either clog or the hair gets tangled around the brushes, and that’s a huge pain. I need a robot vacuum that actually deals with pet hair without the whole tangle nightmare.

Has anyone here found a robot vacuum that’s truly anti-tangle and works well with a heavy-shedding dog? I need something that won’t get stuck on my dog’s fur after five minutes of cleaning. Bonus points if it works well on hardwood and carpet! Looking for recommendations for 2026 that actually live up to the hype.

Pet hair + dirty floors = nightmare. Which robot vacuum and mop combo will actually make a difference?

So, here’s the deal—I love my cats, but I’m done with the fur everywhere. My floors are always dirty, no matter how often I clean, and it feels like I’m constantly battling hair buildup in the corners and on the carpet. The idea of a robot vacuum mop combo sounds perfect for my house. But does it really work in a pet household?

I’m hoping for something that can vacuum pet hair AND mop at the same time, but here’s my issue: pet hair gets tangled in brushes, and I don’t want to spend time unclogging it. Also, does it actually clean properly on carpets? I don’t need a full-on deep clean, but I need something that handles the mopping side well too (without leaving streaks or dragging hair around).

Has anyone used a vacuum mop combo that works for pets and their messy homes? Which model has worked for you? Looking for recommendations that don’t require too much maintenance (no more constant brush cleaning, please!).

what robot vacuum features seem impressive but turn out to be less useful in real life?

I’ve had my robot vacuum for about six months now, and while I was initially sold on all the high-tech features like self-emptying bins, advanced mapping, and multi-surface cleaning

I’m starting to realize that not all of them are as useful as I thought. When I first got it, I expected it to be fully autonomous, but in reality, I still find myself needing to manage it more often than I anticipated. The mapping features were supposed to create a perfect cleaning route, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t always stick to the plan, missing spots and sometimes getting stuck in places it shouldn’t.

And while it promises 99% bacteria removal and 95% dust mite reduction, it’s clear that those claims don’t always translate to real-life cleaning, especially on hardwood and tile floors. I’d love to hear from other long-term users—what features of your robot vacuum have turned out to be less helpful than you expected? What’s actually been useful in your daily routine?

Why do factory carpets even exist in modern cars

seriously why do automakers put fabric carpets on the floor when we immediately have to cover them up anyway it makes zero sense to me like honestly who thought fuzzy material on a surface we step on with muddy shoes was a good idea.

I was looking online at the most highly recommended interior tub style protectors because my new sedan came with these flimsy little carpet squares that slide around everywhere bunch up near the pedals and get ruined by coffee drops instantly. why isnt the whole floor just made of that rubbery waterproof material from the factory so we can just hose it out like a jeep or something. instead im spending my entire sunday night researching laser measured plastic trays to protect a factory fabric ill literally never even look at again until I sell the car. tbh it feels like a massive scam to make us buy an endless cycle of accessories just to keep the resale value alive.

is there some acoustic sound deadening reason for the fabric or are they just cheaping out on us because honestly having to buy giant plastic tubs to protect cheap fuzzy carpet is driving me crazy and making me question car design in general.

So, I’ve been thinking about upgrading my cleaning game for a while. I have two shedding dogs, and they’ve turned my life into a never-ending cycle of vacuuming. Every time I feel like I’m on top of it, the hair piles up again. I was considering one of those self-emptying robot vacuums that’s supposed to take care of everything, including emptying itself after each session.

It sounds too good to be true, right? I’ve read reviews and seen a few demo videos, but I’m still not sure if they’re worth the investment. They’re definitely pricey, and I wonder if they can actually handle the amount of hair my dogs leave behind. The last thing I want is to spend all that money and end up with a vacuum that gets clogged or breaks down after a few months.

Has anyone here actually used one of these vacuums in a home with heavy shedding pets? I’m looking for something that will actually save me time, not make things more complicated. Does the self-emptying feature really work, or is it just another gimmick? And do the filters actually stay clean, or do you have to do a lot of maintenance?

Any insights from people who have made the switch would be so helpful. I’m not sure if I should just stick with what I have or take the plunge and try a self-emptying robot vacuum.

I’ve been using sleep earbuds for several months now to help with both my anxiety and insomnia. I find they help block out the noise around me and keep me relaxed while I sleep. The only issue is, I’m not sure how often I should be replacing them. I’ve been using these earbuds every night, and they still work fine, but I’ve noticed they’re not as comfortable as they were when I first got them. I’ve heard some people recommend replacing sleep earbuds every 6-12 months, depending on how frequently you use them. Personally, I’m considering getting a new pair soon, as the sound quality seems to be declining a bit. I’m curious how long other people’s sleep earbuds last before they start to degrade.

Does anyone here have advice on when it’s time to replace them? I’m also wondering if there’s a noticeable difference in performance when you upgrade to newer models.

He wanted to go see a baseball game so when he went home, he could tell his family all about it. When he got there, the game was sold out, so he decided to climb to the top of a flag pole to get a better look. When he returned home, his family was anxious to hear about his experience:

"What happened?" asked his family.

"Well, America is the nicest place in the world!!" he said. "Before the game started, all the people in the stands and all the players stood up, looked at me and said, "Jose, can you see?"

I know this sounds dramatic but I swear my cat entered some kind of seasonal fur event and nobody warned me. He’s eating normal, acting normal, judging me from the same windowsill as always, but every floor looks like I brushed a small animal and then walked away.I’m in the US and I keep seeing different answers about when dogs and cats actually shed the most. Some people say spring, some say fall, some say indoor cats just shed forever because heat and AC mess with the whole cycle. Which honestly feels believable because my place has carpet in the bedroom and hard floor everywhere else, and the fur migration is insane. The annoying part is the floor cleaning. I sweep, then mop, then 20 minutes later there’s another little fur tumbleweed under the chair like it paid rent.

I’m trying not to overbrush him because his skin gets a little flaky if I go too hard, but also I cannot keep pretending this is normal dust. For people with cats or dogs in the US, when is the worst shedding season for you? Is there an actual pattern or are our pets just quietly replacing themselves one hair at a time?

I’ve tried so many robot vacuums over the years, and I’m honestly frustrated. It seems like every new model promises to leave your floors spotless, but when I go over the areas I’ve vacuumed, I still find dirt and dust. I’m not talking about “visual dust”—I’m talking about the feeling of deep cleaning.

If your vacuum is just doing a single pass and calling it a day, it’s not enough. I’m done with those vacuums that look clean but leave dust hidden in the corners. I need a vacuum that doesn’t just push dust around—it needs to pull it up. I also need it to work more intelligently, so it doesn’t just miss the same spots over and over again.

Here’s what I think matters most:

Multi-pass cleaning: Robots that go over areas multiple times seem to get into the fibers and pull the dust out.

Edge cleaning: This is crucial. If your robot isn’t getting the edges of your rooms, you’ll still see dust there.

Suction that actually works: Some vacuums just push things around without really sucking up the debris, which is what I’ve found with some lower-tier models.

Has anyone else noticed that visual cleaning doesn’t always cut it? I’m still looking for the one that actually makes the floor feel clean. Any recommendations?

I’m always paranoid about using the wrong cleaning products in my house now that I have both a dog and a cat. I’ve heard about chemicals in common cleaning products being harmful to pets, especially when they lick the floor or get their paws on it after cleaning. It makes me nervous, and I don’t want to risk anything toxic, so I’ve been doing a lot of research on “pet-safe” disinfectants.

But the problem is that many of the so-called “safe” cleaners don’t seem to be strong enough to kill germs, and I’m still left wondering if they’re doing a good enough job. I need something that actually disinfects, not just a surface cleaner. My dog loves licking the floor after it’s cleaned, and my cat is often sniffing around, so I want to make sure whatever I use is completely safe for them.

Does anyone have experience with a safe, effective floor disinfectant? Ideally, I want something natural, but I’m open to suggestions for any product that’s pet-friendly and does the job. Any recommendations would be a huge help!

I’m seeing a lot of these smart guitar everywhere lately, stringless guitar… silicon fretboard guitar. Part of me thinks it’s just a high-tech gimmick, do you guys think these are beginner friendly legit tools, or just toys that'll be obsolete in a few years?
