Is my tattoo removal progress too slow after 7 PicoSure sessions?
Hello everyone,
I started having my tattoos removed in Germany in November 2025 because I simply want to have clear skin again. I believe the clinic uses the PicoSure laser (the machine is black). To be honest, I didn’t spend much time researching whether PicoSure or PicoWay would be better—I trusted the team to know what they were doing.
I have three black tattoos:
A script on my forearm
A lion on my upper arm (with a small blue eye)
A number on my triceps
1. question: Was PicoSure the right choice for these tattoos?
Regarding the waiting time between sessions: both the doctor and the technical engineer told me that 5 weeks is enough. That surprised me because every other clinic I contacted recommended at least 8 weeks. Still, I trusted their experience. The doctor even mentioned that, according to the latest studies, 4.5 weeks could already be sufficient, although he personally wouldn’t recommend going that short. But I'm waiting 6 weeks.
2. question: Should I increase the interval to 8 weeks? I have the feeling that nothing much is happening anymore. The script is fading quite well, and the lion has also become much lighter, but the number is a disaster. I would estimate it has faded by only 5–10%.
My 7th session was 2 weeks ago. I’ve attached a comparison photo from my 1st and 7th sessions. During the last few sessions, they’ve been treating me with the highest laser settings to speed up the process.
3. question: What do you think about the overall progress after 7 sessions? Do you think more could have been achieved by now? Many people who have seen my tattoos in real life have complimented how much they’ve faded, but I can’t help feeling that there should have been significantly more progress. Is that maybe optical illusions?
4. question: Do you have any general tips to help tattoos fade faster, or is it really just a matter of staying hydrated and letting time do its job?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!
