I'm looking for a small asset management tool for our company. I want to be able to manage all our devices, printers, and licenses (especially license keys). The problem is that most providers offer far too many features that we, as a small company, don't need. I don't want to have to complete a three-week training course just to learn how to use such a tool. It also needs to be affordable. Does anyone know of a good product?

I'm a systems engineer, not a web developer. Yesterday, my boss asked if I could build a price monitoring system that scans our competitors' prices daily, matches them with our OEMs (20,000 items), and sends an email if there's a deviation of more than 2%. Most of our competitors have anti-scratch protection, though, and that's where the problem lies. Ever since AI came along, superiors have been constantly approaching me with prompts asking if I could build something like this – the existing solutions are overkill, and it would be quick. Is it just me?

How often would you say friendships change in nature? I do a lot with one of my friends on a regular basis, and I wonder if it’s normal for the sense of connection in friendships to change so quickly. I’d generally describe the friendship as close, but there were many months when the friendship felt very deep; on the other hand, there were also shorter periods when I sometimes felt as if I’d suddenly become less important. Would you describe that as a subjective feeling, or how do you interpret it?

At the moment we deploy the company portal as user. Hoe can i deploy the company portal as system that i can add it to the ESP during autopilot?

We use Printix at out company. Managing Printers on macOS is a pain. We have many brother printers in our company, but brother doenst publish print drivers for macOS anyome. How can i handle that?

I deployed a script to our 12 macOS devices the day before yesterday. But 5 of the 12 devices didnt recive it. Although there have been several check-ins/syncs since then.

We use our laser to print giftcard codes.
The computer boots up automatically in the morning via the BIOS and opens LightBurn (Autostart). The laser is connected to a timer (timer switch) so that it turns on automatically.

It’s important for us that:
LightBurn and the laser connect automatically when they start up.
Now my question is, how can I make this work? Does the laser need to be running first before LightBurn starts—or does LightBurn need to run first, followed by the laser? What is the correct order? And does this need to happen within a specific time frame?

I want to set up Remote Help. I installed the app on myself for testing purposes, but when I start a session in Intune, the notification doesn't appear on my device. Is it not possible to send the notification to myself? And secondly, does Remote Help update automatically, or do I have to repackage and redistribute it each time?

Wir haben einen internen Dienst (übers Web erreichbar), bei dem wir uns in erster Instanz mit Client Zertifikat authentifizieren. Wird kein Zertifikat gefunden, kommt ein Basic Auth Fenster. Ich möchte nicht ins Detail gehen, was für ein Dienst das ist. Aber ust Basic Auth nicht des Todes unsicher? Ich habe das ganze nicht aufgebaut und betreibe diesen Dienst nicht selbst, das macht eine externe Instanz.

I've laid a patch cable with a wall outlet. When I connect the access point (AP) to it, it gets stuck at "Getting ready" or "Adopting". If I connect it directly to the switch, I can get it to connect. I connected my laptop to the wall outlet and got 300 MB download and 900 MB upload.

This has already cost me at least 3 hours. I've reset the AP more than 10 times. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? I can't access the AP via SSH either.

Ich bin ITler in einem KMU, aber kein Softwareentwickler. Das einzige was ich nutze ist Bash und PowerShell. Entweder schreibe ich meine Skripte selbst oder hole mir Sie von Leuten, die genau wissen was das Skript macht (GitHub zbs.). Klar, ich nutze auch oft KI, aber ich setze nur Code ein, bei dem ich zumindest im gröbsten weiss, wie er funktioniert und wie ich ihn warten kann.

Bei uns in der Firma gibt es jedoch Abteilungsleiter, die 0 Ahnung von IT und noch weniger Ahnung von Code haben und die mittlerweile mit Claude Videcoden. Sie sind überhaupt nicht in der Lage zu validieren ob der Code sicher ist, noch in der Lage zu erkennen was er genau tut. Diese Entwicklung, dass nun jeder meint, es ist eine schlaue Idee einen auf Softwareentwickler zu machen, nur weil mal prompten kann, finde ich A) nicht sehr intelligent und B) auch gefährlich.

Was ist eure Meinung zu dem Beispiel?

We've discovered that we can't view HEIC images (those are Apple's video files, right?) in Windows Photo Viewer. I think I need to distribute some kind of "Video Extension" to my clients, but I don't know which one exactly or where to get it. I also don't know if the new Windows Media Player is necessary for this.

Wie ist das eigentlich, wenn ihr einem Freund oder einer Freundin anruft und sie nicht abnimmt, erwartet ihr dann einen Rückruf, ruft ihr selbst nochmal an oder wartet ihr einfach und wenn nichts passier belasst ihr es so?

Hab ein 25m Verlegekabel verlegt mit Dose. Wenn ich den AP dran anschliesse bleibt er bei "Getting ready" oder "Adopting" hängen. Wenn ich ihn direkt am Switch anschliesse kriege ich ihn verbunden. Hab an die Dose mal mein Notebook gehängt, 300 MB Download und 900 MB Upload.

Das hat mich jetzt schon bestimmt 3h gekostet. Hab den AP über 10x zurückgesetzt. Hat jemand eine Idee wo der Fehler liegt? Über SSH komme ich auch nicht auf den AP.

Dieses Dock hat zwei 2x Thunderbolt und 2x HDMI für die Monitore.

Ich habe USB-C zu HDMI und USB-C zu DP Kabel in der Firma. Bei manchen Monitoren funktioniert das Setup mit zwei Monitoren nur, wenn ich 2x USB-C zu DP Kabel nutze. Wenn ich gewisse Monitore mit USB-C zu HDMI verbinde, wird nur einer der beiden erkannt (egal ob Mac oder Win angeschlossen). Es gibt dafür keine logische Erklärung, oder liege ich da falsch?
