What to do with sff

So I made the mistake of buying an sff since it was a good deal. But now I'm stuck with all the challenges of its smallness. I was wondering what people have done for two things. 1) I kind of want to get a gpu for it so I can play some light things like RL and GTA but it feels stupid to pay the same price for a LP 1050 ti as a normal size 2060 does anyone have some weird work arounds (in case it helps I actually do have a M-ATX motherboard for the i5-9500 inside it). 2) what to do about storage as I really need space for more drives, has an external drive solution worked or is there some other alternative? for both of these I'm just looking for a way to do this that isn't spending too much more money lol, could I potentially buy a MT barebones and swap in parts just anything. I'd even consider cutting holes in the side panel

Best Way to approach storage

So I've gone down a path of trying out jellyfin originally out of curiousity but now also out of potential money saving. I've as of now just been set up with an optiplex that I mushed together a docker with some youtube tutorials and got a few movies on it. I've been now considering making a more dedicated system with storage to fully migrate from all my subscriptions and have had a few questions mainly about storage and processing. 1) The optiplex has a i5-9500 but is also a sff so not a ton of space for drives, should I invest a bit more into something better or could I make it work maybe with external storage? 2) when (if) I buy storage would it be fine to just start with two 4tbs for mirroring, I don't know if the rest of the family wants to fully invest $600 into two 12tb drives just yet as we're still new to this. All this while trying to not be more expensive than subscriptions lol. Any insight is appreciated thank you!

HEPA or Carbon cabin filter

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm buying a cabin filter replacement, getting a spearhead one, and I see it has a normal I think carbon layered filter and then a HEPA version for like $4 more. Just curious if theres like a reason to not get the HEPA? My friend said the carbon maybe does better with odor. Though my priority is pollen and whatnot since I get pretty bad allergies.

Places to get lunch and study?

I've been enjoying trying different cafe's each time I want to study for fun but was wondering if there are good places with more lunch like foods (sandwiches not pre made and whatnot) that aren't too loud to study at. Preferably in or near the west side

2005 S60 to S60R visually

This may be stupid but I'm wondering if it would be possible to get a 2005 s60 and make it look like a s60r. I honestly have fallen in love with the s60r's appearance to me it is just a perfect looking car but I don't really have the money or patience to deal with expensive repairs it comes with. Forgive me if this is a bad question I don't know too much about cars and even less about volvo's specifically but would it be not too complicated to just get a s60 and get an oem s60r bumper? Do they fit the same frame or would I need to do a bit of trimming? Thanks for any advice!

Experience with Montech PSU

I see the Montech BETA 2 550w for $40 on newegg and wondering if anyone has experience with Montech. I am honestly on a budget but I know to not just get a cheap junky psu so I want to make sure its not a mistake buying it. Thanks!

How to get rid of e waste?

We had like 4 boxes of e waste cords, remotes, space heaters, etc. and took it to the
Recycle Drop-Off Station and they quoted us like $70 to dump 3 heaters, a printer, and a dehumidifier (just those alone not the other 3 boxes worth of stuff) and wanted us to individually tally up every cord and random piece of junk and sort the bins ourself. We don't really want to pay that much just to dump it off especially when we have to sort and count each thing. Anyone know a cheaper/easier place for e waste? Probably 50%+ of the cords and remotes would still work for something we just don't have the time to sort it all and don't want to pay probably $150+ to recycle it. Thanks

Is a 1660 Super enough or should I go for more.

I’m building my first pc based on an optiplex (i5-9500, 2x8gb ram) and I’m looking for a gpu. Honestly this started as a super budget gaming build so I don’t want this to slowly become more expensive but I’ve been struggling to choose a gpu. My most struggling game of probably want to play is Teardown. I don’t really normally play brand new AAA titles often so I don’t need much and don’t care too much about that but I don’t want to get this just to upgrade in a year because I’m falling behind. I only want 1080p 60fps. I also need it to be nvidia for plex transcoding so if I did get a better card it would be a 3060 but that’s already expensive for a “budget build”. Thanks for the help! (p.s I already have compatibility figured out for the optiplex if people are worried about that)

How annoying is it to case swap?

I am curious how difficult / out of the way it is to case swap a optiplex, specifically mt (thought maybe if I want to case swap I should just buy a sff). I'm on the edge because its kind of just like a $50+ expense for looks and I think the optiplex with wood vinyl looks okay. But also some case swaps end up looking quite nice (especially the SexiPlex). Just curious how much of an investment of time and money it was for people. Also has anyone tried plasti dipping the ugly green mobo.

PSU For 3060 MT?

Looking to maybe get a 3060 MT with i5-8500 and then buying a rx6600 for it, but I will need to upgrade the psu. Should I buy higher capacity dell psu so its more compatible, if so which one. Or should I get just some standart or sf psu and get some adapters and what not. Ideally I only spend $50 on the psu but the problem with the dell ones is the only ones I see for that price are sketchy ones off ebay. Curious to see what your guy's experiences and advice are

Favorite Budget GPU?

I'm planning out my own Optiplex build but I'm trying to do it on a very tight budget. Right now I'm looking at a HP ProDesk with an i5-7500 ($70) and have been looking at gpu's. I want it to be slot powered so I don't need to get a new psu, my main option right now is a 1050 ti. Ideally I only spend $50 on the gpu but I can stretch it to $70. My only problem is a game I really like recommended gpu is a 1080. It's not a must have game for me just trying the best I can with my budget even if its just a better gpu for cheaper I want to be the most intentional with my budget ($160 for the whole build). Thanks!

SFF or MT

Hello all, I'm looking to make my own homelab of sorts just something to start a media collection along with some basic games (Stardew Valley and maybe slightly more powerful games) for my room. I like the aesthetics of the SFF a lot more but I could potentially just hide it in a cabinet or something and use the MT instead so I don't have to hunt for a low profile gpu. Just wanted to know how much of a tradeoff the SFF is, thanks!

Is it a requirement to be a loser to respond to posts here

I make a post asking a simple question and I get people responding with stuff just making assumptions about my financial situation and how financially literate I am and then when I say that I’m comfortable they call it daddy’s money. There’s a lot of nice and helpful people here but I swear this sub is filled with actual bums who are probably projecting and it’s kind of sad

YT Shorts Weird View Graph

I posted my first short and the view graph is really weird, basically every hour after I posted it, so XX:15 it gains like ~150 views in 5 minutes and then flatlines for the rest of the hour, it looks like stairs. I haven't botted views or anything but it looks like it, is this normal?

UVB Placement Help for Chameleon Gecko

Hello, I'm planning my vivarium out and need help understanding what to do with UVB. I know chameleon geckos need low (<1) UVB so I'm trying to figure out how to make it work without mounting my bulb a foot in the air. I have a Reptisun T5HO 5.0 Bulb in a reflector fixture, it takes up the full width of the mesh top. My plan for the vivarium (which is the attached picture) was to build the hardscape like I've seen done kind of as a fake tree trunk with cork rounds coming diagonally from the top left to the middleish. If I placed the uvb at the front of the tank would it be far enough away from the top of the cork to not apply uvb to it or will I just need to make the cork stop a lot lower. Any help would be loved as I'm a bit confused, thank you!

Plant recommendation for Chameleon Gecko

I’ve got everything to start my vivarium for a chameleon gecko but I didn’t go super wood heavy, I have the typical amount for hardscape but I know they love to climb and chill on branches. I didn’t want to make it ugly and cluttered with a lot of random branches so I was wondering if there’s plants they like that I could fit in it for him to hang out on.
