Learning triads my way driving me insane
I'm trying to learn triads along the neck, but I keep getting stuck on something that probably isnt problem for someone else
For example, I'm using standard tuning and looking on E-A-D strings
My E minor triad is:
e|-----
B|-----
G|-----
D|--5-- G
A|--2-- B
E|--0-- E
With G major, for example:
e|-----
B|-----
G|-----
D|--0-- D
A|--2-- B
E|--3-- G
I’m literally moving up the scale degrees, but that damn open D string is lower in pitch than the G (5th fret on D) I played in the E minor triad. And I dont get a smooth upward movement and its driving me insane propably because of my OCD
To make G major actually ascend in pitch relative to that E minor shape on those same strings, I'd have to stretch my fingers across 6 frets (3-5-9, which is physically impossible to play)
Looking for "techno breakcore" music like this
I really like this idk, "techno" breakcore. Cyberia lyr3 also gets this vibe
Looking for songs with the same vibe as"kitsch" from tekken 4
I don't know what is this genre (i think there lot of jazz influence with jungle and synth music) called but i love this song and i wanna discover more songs with the same vibe and energy. I really like this bassline and piano
I'm very picky and i didn't like recommendations from spotalike or chosic
Anhedonia while taking Seronil
I started taking Seronil because of depression and OCD. Is it normal that I don’t feel any emotions while taking Seronil? At first, I still felt something. But now I don’t feel sadness or anger, and at the same time, I don’t feel happy either. A while back, I managed to get tickets to a Metallica concert for myself and a friend. My friend was jumping for joy, but for me it was just another day. It was the same when I passed my driver’s license test, which I’d been waiting for so long. I even smiled for a moment, but inside, I just didn’t care.
When something bad happens like someone I care about ignores me, or a meeting with someone I'm looking forward to gets canceled, It just whatever to me. Even when I talk about these things with my therapist, I can tell she feels bad about it, etc., but I don't care. To me, this person is just another streetlight I pass on my road called life. I used to care about that. But not anymore. By the way, I stopped going to therapy because anyone can tell me they're sorry and listen to me and at least I don't have to pay for it.
I stopped taking Seronil about a month ago, maybe a little longer, but i started taking it again bcs i felt even more depressed.
How music theory and OCD locked me in one place and ruined my guitar playing
Music theory overwhelmed me (i'm overwhelmed mainly by possible inversions ans combinations of one chord) ( and OCD hyper-analysis (im diagnosed) ruined fun and sense of playing for me. I am physically stuck repeating the exact same visual shapes on the fretboard (like 1-0 frets, 5-7-8 or 1-3-4, and the same dyads like 7 fret on A string and 5 on D, 5 on A and 4 on D) and anchoring to E string. My brain instantly deconstructs and ruins any riff I try to write, because then it turns out that it's the same thing but played, for example, an octave higher or in a different inversion and i getting frustrated. Guitar lost the "auditory" dimension for me. Now it's only patterns and shapes on fretboard to me. My teacher was non metal guitarist and he had a "looser" approach to playing (whatever it means), more improvisation, etc. assumed that playing like this was ineffective, it wasn't leading me anywhere, I preferred to load up the tablature and learn a song. At least I had a goal. How many times the hell out can you improvise over a backing track? I had a more "technical" approach
I've been playing metal all this time and I've become so saturated with it that it's hard for me to play anything else, and I'd really like to "unblock" myself and learn other patterns on fretboard

How i stopped playing guitar
I don't know if this matters, but I'll briefly share my story of playing the guitar:
I've been playing guitar for 6 years. In 2020, I bought my first bass, and I think I took lessons in 2021 from a teacher (I even took part in a contest at school and came in third place playing anesthesia after about 2 years of playing), and in 2023, i bought my first electric guitar, and I haven't played bass since. I "played" complex stuff like Nile and other death metal, even though I wasn't good at it, I still pretty enjoyed it. From September 2023 to May 2026, again i took guitar lessons from other teacher but I stopped because I'm not motivated, I'm still stuck in the same place, and I don't really know what I want. I don't have a goal, and I don't enjoy it at all. All along, I played almost exclusively metal, even though my teachers taught other styles. I actually liked them, but I kept playing metal anyway, because that was the music I connected with the most, and that's what I wanted to play in the future (in a band, etc.). Even if I liked a non-metal song, but it had, say, a 1-4-5 progression, I wouldn't learn it. What's the point? It's the same as a thousand other songs. I didn't learn songs when I couldn't find perfect tabs for them, or when the tabs included notes that were barely audible in the song. I don't have a logical explanation for that. My teacher had a different approach to playing in general. For me, tabs were my only source of stuff to play. I just opened the tabs and playing from it. He was more focused on improvisation and things like that. I don’t know how to explain it I remember once when we were jamming to “Herbie Hancock - Chameleon.” I had absolutely no idea what the point of it was. For me, it's better to open up the tabs and just grind through a song. I actually kind of liked it what I improvised to this song. I assumed that wouldn’t help me with my playing, because nothing I’d learned in lessons so far had helped me play metal.
I think the first factor that influenced my enjoyment of playing the guitar was learning music theory. I was good at it, I understood everything. But that made me less creative when coming up with my own ideas, because it turned out that it was all the same thing, just in a different key, inversion, or modal scale, etc. The second factor is that I’m stuck in the same old positions. Like, always the same 1-0 on E string, 1-3-4, 5-7-8. Later, I discovered dyads and got stuck in them, too. 7 fret on A string and 5 on D, 5 on A and 4 on D etc. Whenever I played other ones, they never sounded right to me and and for the kind of music I want to create. Later also i got stuck in my point pedal riffs writing phase. I came to the conclusion that why should I play the note G and layer a melody over it, and then play the note F# and also layer a melody over it, when I can just play the root or a full chord and it will create the same sense of tension. When I improvise on higher frets, I'm also stuck in the same licks and boxes, and when I stop to think and come up with some cool pattern on the fretboard, it doesn't sound good. Music has lost its “auditory” dimension. Now it's just pure theory: what goes with what, how one sound relates to another, and so on. I'm trapped in patterns and constant analyzing. Music has stopped meaning anything to me. I've hardly listened to any music at all since May. And when I do listen, it's just some rap or something like techno. I used to feel all kinds of emotions related to music. Now its just sound waves.
I was just overthinking everything. I don't know if it matters, but I've been diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder. I used to be obsessed with having things arranged neatly, and then that shifted more toward the “mental” realm. Since I stopped playing, I've felt a sense of relief like I don't have to worry about anything, and my head feels kind of “clearer.” I guess I'd like to get back into playing guitar someday. But no metal, no theory, just playing by ear.
I know that many of these barriers are probably easy for you to overcome, but my brain makes it complicated
Getting back into guitar
I’m picking up the guitar again after a break. I used to play almost exclusively metal, but I want to branch out into different styles now. I really dig phish - stash but it's a massive track and seems intimidating. I want to avoid such long songs because my goal is to learn tracks in full, from start to finish. I also likes Higher ground by RHCP
I came up with it while I was high
Random playing lmao.

I was forced to replace them because the chain broke and it was skipping on the output sprocket anyway.
Songs for metalhead to play that are not metal
Hi. I almost only play metal on guitar. I'm currently taking a break from guitar because I'm burnt out, and after the break I want to start playing something new that won't burn me out again and something that is not metal or rock. So far, I've liked and played Pink Floyd - Money, Jeff Buckley - So Real, Eric Clapton - Tears in heaven and Akira Yamaoka - Waiting For You. I like to learn and play these songs because they are not too long (except pink floyd money). For example i like Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm gonna leave you riff but this song is too long and the riffs repeat again and again and for me somehow there is no point in playing it. Maybe it's my OCD or idk
