Scared that something happened to me...

For some context, my friend was being SA'd by a male in her life. I come to find out, she wasn't the only one being abused, but another girl she was friends with.

I've stayed at their house multiple times, and I recall a few times I'd wake up to my door open, which I typically locked and shut. I don't remember anything necessarily negative happening, but I am worried due to the fact that it's happened to other girls.

The door being ajar could mean nothing, but now I'm wondering if he even came into my room at the very least while I was sleeping. Idk what to do

Overly Critical Of Taylor

This is going to be a pretty simple post. Why are people so overly critical of Taylor compared to other artists? People find the littlest things to get angry at her for compared to actually controversial artists.

I never see the same amount of hate for people like Chris Brown or Kanye. And even other female artists aren't nearly as criticized as her, like Rhianna or Lana Del Rey, whom have had their own share of controversies.

People want to cancel Taylor so bad, but why?

Extra Girl So in Love track....

In the picture above is a list of songs on Girl So in Love, but there's a song that didn't make the cut underneath expectations. The title is "Serena Joy."

I saw a theory saying that Olivia wrote a song for the new Spider-Man movie, and while I think that's likely, it's definitely not this song like people are saying. For my non-media or pop culture loving Livies, Serena Joy is a character from the Handmaid's Tale, who is EVILLLL. I highly recommend giving THT a watch, but I digress.

Anyways, in curious as to what a song titled Serena Joy could be about. Any thoughts?

Obscure Conan Gray "Memory" from 2020 Tiktok

I was on tiktok during 2020, and, as you can imagine, it was an interesting time.

I have very vivid memories, however, of people using the song "Heather" to compliment others. The whole thing was, if you saw someone attractive or pretty, you'd comment under their post "omg you're such a heather!" Or something along those lines.

Does anyone else remember this? Whenever I bring it up, nobody seems to recall but I swear I'm not crazy!!

I've been wanting this top for a couple of days now, but it's out of stock in this color. Do we think they'll restock it?

Something that bothers me...

This is low-key just a random post, but I want to see if other people feel the same way. I've seen some people say they didn't like this movie, and I feel like a lot of people that didn't like it just didn't understand it.

I feel that the reason I enjoyed this movie so much I'd because I have the ability to resonate with Nikki as a character (somewhat). A majority of people I've seen hate on it are men, and I hate to get that person, but I feel they're only hating bc they can't sympathize with Nikki or they don't like how Beat was made out to be a villain.

I think it just really bothers me when people hate on the story or say it's overrated, bc this movie is a clear metaphor for SA, and it opens up new conversations and awareness about SA. Im not saying this is the case for everyone who didn't like the movie, but I just needed to rant. So ty

Costume design choices: The Dinner scene

Im back for more costume analysis!! This movie's costumes are simple, and yet, they're effective. I was originally only going to take a look at Bear's costume for this scene until I noticed Nikki's costume as well. A double analysis it is.

First, Bear's costume. Bear's real outfit isn't anything special as Nikki's zebra/tiger striped top was. Although, for those who want to know, Bear's sweater in this scene is from Hollister. Bear's costume seems simple, like anything anyone else would wear.

Bear's costume in this scene shows a lot about his personality and feelings. The costume designer pointed out that viewers were bothered by the fact that you could see Bear's shirt underneath. However, the costume designer said that this was an intentional design, showcasing a realistic fit. I do think Bear's off-centered sweater also showcases how the situation regarding Nikki is abnormal and that it will turn messy.

Now for Nikki's outfit. I couldn't find a great photo for Nikki's outfit, but the second photo works. As we see, Nikki's outfit is simple and feminine, but not as sensual as her outfits later on. This outfit shows the early stages of Nikki's possession and obsession. Additionally, Nikki's outfit has the exact same colors that Bear's outfit does. I believe this was intentional, to show that Nikki is losing herself to Bear, including neglecting her personality.

I'm sure there was more that I wanted to say but I can't quite remember. I'll edit if I do!!

Unintentional costume design Easter egg

I watched Obsession yesterday as a result of it being all over my tiktok feed. I love watching movies, and I love analyzing the costumes for them, and this movie is no exception.

I realized something about Nikki's iconic red and black outfit she wears to the party. A lot of people have been calling it tiger striped, but on the listing for the actual shirt, it's zebra stripes.

And I feel like this really sums up Nikki's character and conflicts, even if it's unintentional. To Bear and the viewers, Nikki's top looks like tiger stripes, showcasing that she is dangerous and volatile. In actuality, her top is zebra stripes, showing that Nikki herself is not a risk and that she is the prey. But as a result of Bear's actions, Nikki was turned into the tiger or the "predator."

I saw the costume designer on tiktok and honestly don't think she put that much thought into this top, but I had to overanalyze lol!!

The "obsession" with "Obsession" shows that people want expressive actors

Other than Obsession being a fresh idea and an interesting story, I think the biggest factor of its success is the overall acting. I've seen so many people discuss how off-putting and well done Inde did as Niki with her facial expressions.

I hope, if anything, this serves as a message to Hollywood that people want actually expressive actors and not a bunch of Botox!! Not only that, but also having fresh and unique faces in movies and tv shows

I feel disconnected from my friends that are in relationships

I'm a teenage girl in highschool, and I've had some "relationships" but nothing really in HS. Most of my friends hit it off with a multitude of people during Freshman year, so many of them began dating. It didn't really bother me. I definitely wasn't a fan of some of their boyfriends because they were assholes, but they weren't really my problem.

Freshman homecoming rolls around, and all my friends attend an after-party, which I and another girl were not invited to because we were not in a relationship with anyone. This was the first time I was really bothered by my friends and their relationships. Then, they had a party that summer with everyone in the friend group, except for me.

When I questioned them about it, I was essentially told that it was my "fault for not interacting with the guys much." This is when I started seeing issues in my friend group. My feelings were hurt, of course, and it definitely altered how I view my friendships now. I attend a very small school, so who I can be friends with is VERY small.

I additionally have a friend outside of school who I've known for ~4 years. I consider this person my best friend. We don't get to see each other as much as I wish because we live far away, but she's always been my "person." She had been in and out of relationships, but they never affected our own friendship too much. I would definitely notice times though where she'd tell me she was "going to bed," only to jump on a call with her current relationship for HOURS when I was with her.

This friend had been in and out of relationships, and recently got into a new one. She has been attached at his hip, figuratively speaking. They hang out everyday, and she'll leave me on delivered for hours.

All of my friends who are in relationships have somehow shut me out whenever they're around their s/o. It bothers me a lot because it makes me feel like I'm not as valuable as their HS boyfriends.

My parents tell me that I need to get over it. However, I feel like it genuinely is straining my friendships, and now it feels so difficult to maintain true friends. Am I overreacting?

Unpopular opinion: I don't really care about phones at concerts

Just wanted to say this because I saw a video of Harry Styles telling everyone to put their phones away. Mind you, his "tour" is technically just a residential at MSG and was extremely expensive.

Personally, I think, by having phones, it makes the concert more accessible to people who couldn't go. It shares the art with others. And if you're going to be paying hundreds of dollars in tickets, you should be able to film your experience.

Imo, as long as it's not being harmful for others at the concert, I think people should be allowed to film. It's a concert, not theatre

Terrified about legitimacy of tickets

A family member of mine purchased tickets for me off a reseller site. The reseller website is Gotickets and I've seen MANY mixed reviews.

Some people have had positive experiences, but I've also seen negative reviews as well. I'm terrified the tickets may be fraudulent.

I received an email from them as access to the tickets that were transferred to my email. The tickets are scannable on tickettranser.com, which I've never heard of.

Am I getting scammed?? Has anyone had experiences or bought through GoTickets or tickettransfer

How does Ticket transfer work???

I posted on here a couple weeks ago, nervous about the status of legitimacy of my tickets. Well, good news, I got the tickets safely transferred to me from my family member.

However, the tickets came transferred through tickettransfer.com and already have the barcode. It looks exactly like how it would in Ticketmaster, but I can't save my tickets to wallet or anything. Will these still work??

What I expected/what season five could've been

Yesterday, I was given some thought on why S5 is so significantly stark in contrast from all the other seasons, and what could've been done better. So... I decided to piece together what I think could've been season 5.

•I would've kept the whole "post apocalyptic," religious hysteria route we were going. At the end of S4, the town is literally split apart, but in S5, it's suddenly completely patched and life is "normal." We can keep the holes being patched up, but add some more military presence outside of the gated area. Instead of the WSQK being the main news source, the town would be gathered in church to hear whatever the military had to say. This allows for us to pick up with the satanic panic from last season, and slightly raises the stakes.

•Make Holly the ONLY child to be taken, never introduce Derik. This is completely re-routing a major plotline in 5, but this plotline added too much for new characters in the last season. Holly has always been present, and notices when things are out of place (Ex: S3, she notices the trees moving from the Mind Flayer). This allows Mike and Nancy to direct much of their focus onto Holly, meaning that Vecna can target then and their loved ones much easier. Holly can be young Will's "replacement," but she doesn't acquire powers. Mr. Whatsit stilke exists, but only for Holly, no other children. 5 is supposed to resolve previous problems, not add a million more to keep the audience entertained.

•More death. Sounds morbid, but I think about the one picture of literally every character that season at the WSQK. It seemed like the Duffers did NOT want to kill off anyone, which I honestly think we could've used. Even writing someone off could've been beneficial. Kali dying made perfect sense, but having no one else expect a few military men die is unlike stranger things. They could have had Vickie die in the hospital when a demogorgan came, protecting Robin. Someone should've died in the Upside Down or been seriously injured. It felt like there was no worry or tension that the beloved characters were going to die bc they had SO MUCH plot armor. Hell, I'm shocked the military woman +whose name I cannot remember) didn't die. I think Ted and Karen should've died in the hospital, at least after Karen tells Mike who Mr. Whatsit is.

•Vecna utilizing powers. This could've made season five much more interesting AND scary. Vecna could've used more psychological warfare like he did on Hopper. That one scene of his "shooting" El, was one of the scenes that had the highest tension and stakes the entire season. Characters we could've seen it with:

-Joyce: Vecna placing the blame of Will's disappearance on her. Claiming it's her fault that Will's why he is the way he is.

-Mike: showing him false visions of what happened to Holly

-Lucas: anything to do with Max

-Dustin: Eddie ofc

Anything that could've weakened our characters enough for the audience to care that they may lose or die.

•Direct confirmation of El being alive. I'll be honest, I hated that they left it so open-ended. Not only that but I hated that the only other choice, Millie claimed, was El to get married. I would've had El seem like she's still in the Upside Down, but at the last minute of the episode, we focus in on Hopper's cabin door. The door opens a bit (three inches), then further, revealing El is alive. And hopper knows it as well.

There's a LOT more I could and would change but I'd have to think of it. Thoughts???

TLOAS: Not Taylor's best, but not a bad album

I'm tired of people claiming that TLOAS is an objectively "bad" album. When it comes to the topic of Showgirl, there's a LOT of mixed feelings about it. Some love it, some hate it, some are indifferent.

As we've had more time to sit with the album, I've decided that I quite enjoy it. I think the production on this album is very unique compared to Taylor's other works, and is fun!

The one thing that I see people criticize Showgirl the MOST about is the lyricism. And while I agree with some of the critiques that the lyrics can be "cheesy," I don't think it makes it a bad album. I feel like this album definitely tapped into Taylor's happy, dorky side that we saw similar to in Lover.

While this album isn't by any means Taylor's best work imo, I don't think that it's "bad." I do think, however, it is below Taylor's capability levels and it's more comparable to modern pop music that is currently being released.

Anyways, Showgirl is a fun, well-done album that I think will end up getting the Lover treatment in a few years.
