Good media player for 3D MKV (MK3D files)?
I have a few movies in the form of digital MK3D files. Once upon a time I could play them from my PC to my TV in MPC with some plugins, but since Nvidia did away with 3D support, I don't think that's possible anymore without using older drivers that would cause issues on newer games etc.
I have (and haven't used for some time) a Dune HD media player, which did support and play them great. At some point nearly everything I played off it had audio sync issues and I gave it up after updating the firmware a few more times with no improvements (not just 3D or even HD stuff). I'm basically looking for something like that when it worked well.
Dune's new players no longer support 3D at all. I need to play to a standard 3D TV and want the full 3D signal (using a 4k 3D passive set, so each eye gets full 1080).
Is there any player, even something I could find used at a decent price and still works, or what do you suggest currently?
I primarily use these for movies with issues with forced subtitles. I imagine most know, but forced subs are ones that appear even when subs are off. Think something like an English movie and someone speaks in Russian, or an alien is speaking their language. Like the subs under Jabba the Hutt.
Some movies only got 3D Blu-rays in other countries where English isn't the primary language. Despite including the English audio track, many don't include forced subs for English. You can watch it fully subtitled in English, or miss the intentional subs altogether.
In this cases I've gotten both the imported 3D version and the US (or UK) 2D version, and combined them so the subs from the 2D version are on the 3D version. I'm not even sure how I'd make that into a 3D iso to burn to a disc, only an MK3D which is a lossless conversion, and that's complicated enough haha.
TLDR; what media device can I find afforable-ish that can play MK3D files in 3D over HDMI?
