Something I was thinking about recently was about how new electric aviation could make the puddle hop from Dublin to Holyhead (using nearby RAF Valley’s mothballed civilian terminal) a more viable option for people who want to get to/from the UK and Europe but can trade time for carbon emissions savings. I realise, though, that yourselves up in Douglas would be a similar distance and have even less connection options than Dublin.

If you could get to the trains at Holyhead in an hour for further rail to the rest of the UK & beyond, would it be something of interest? Maybe it would push further links between Ffestiniog’s Boston Lodge works snd your own heritage rail works? What say ye?

I get that for many if not most of you, taking a train down to your holidays after already crossing the sea by air or boat is a non starter. But for those who’ve need to hit the Continent but don’t want to fly it, or already do rail & sail to the UK or Europe, what would you say you needed to see before you thought of rail via Holyhead as a viable option, or needs to improve if it’s an option you already take?

So I get that the landside SLF have had a revelation that leaving an AirTag in the bag means they know where it is, but has that changed anything down on the ramp? Just means the boss tells you to fetch a certain bag from a place, or is there other things it’s changed?

Just to be clear & save the mods trouble, no discussion of selling is going to be entertained, either on thread or in DMs. This is about where to go to do it, not to post the ad itself.

So, I find myself about to take a ferry & train to London next weekend by foot, and an opportunity exists. I have a Montague Paratrooper with carrybag sitting in storage for almost a literal decade at this point, and I want to sell it on. It’s an expensive proposition by plane, but I’m on a boat & train, which makes it an easier dent to transport.

1. If I bring it to London, is there bike shops that’ll hand over cash for it after inspection?

2. If I was to post online, what sites are people looking for bikes in London on?

So I remember from my earliest childhood years being up really early to catch the cartoons, but I’d end up catching the back end of Open University programming. What was that about, and can you get those online anywhere?

So, if ye don’t know, one of the Marvel heroes is played by Haley Atwell, named Peggy Carter. So far, so nothing to do with Kneecap or Republicanism.

In one of the animations called “What If?”, she becomes a superhero called Captain Carter. All red-white-and-blue, big Union Jack on a shield. Not to taste, but sure it’s comic books and it’s animated, not a problem. Sure didn’t they do a great job in Ms. Marvel about the Pakistani-Indian partition?

Now, though, they recently revealed Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter’s going to be in the next big Marvel Movie, Doomsday. Last time we saw Carter on the big screen, she was Captain Carter in the live action flesh (before she >!got sliced in half by Scarlet Witch.!<)

If it does turn out that she’s Captain Carter, that means a lot of Union Jack branding and kids wielding the fleg with no idea of any other connotations.

The thing I want to ask the Kneecap community- what’s the right stance in your view? Is it something to encourage members to ignore if you come across “Captain Carter” stuff in the wild? Is it something to actively discourage participation in? Or is it comic book kids having the craic and off with them no bother?

I suppose I’m worried it comes up and surprises fans who react in a way that sullies the fandom’s name and give grist to the Brit media mill. What say ye?

I was a smidge too young to take in his genius at the time. I knew he was great, but not why. I’m glad to finally get a lay on him from this.

So, I've kinda hosed myself.

Last sliver of the Instrumentation college course to finish off and get my mechatronics cert. Load Cell exercise to complete, use an Arduino and load cell to make a Wheatstone bridge sensor measurement device & verify the operation. handy enough.

Dumbass here thought he had the parts and left it to the end. I now know I'm short the HX711 amplifier (the harvested weight scales has some arbitrary straight to LCD display thing) and the bbc Microbit.

So far, so annoying, but nothing a browse of Amazon & wait can fix, right? Well, I'm off to Leipzig early Monday morning for a conference, and won't be back until Sunday week.

So my options are...

1- find the missing parts, find somewhere in Dublin to work on the exercise (wire it up, photograph it, document it) between now and Sunday

2-Bring my kit with me to Leipzig, find a spot there that sells the kit, build & document it there.

3- cuss my luck and qualify in August.

Am I missing something stupidly obvious? Is there anyone that'll ship the parts by Friday morning? If I get to Germany can I find a friendly makerspace that'll put me up for a few hours to get it done?

Terminal 1 car park, the shop in there. It’s gone! Looking across at a wall of 4-5 vending machines.
