Iron

Had my appointment with my PCP yesterday to go over some test results. My last ferritin number was 53. When I looked at the printout of my blood test, I noticed that my doctor did not order TSAT with the ferritin bloodwork.
I am on oral iron supplements until October when I will have my iron blood taken again.
I asked my doctor to please include TSAT on the next bloodwork. Now he’s the kicker she said TSAT was not necessary because I am not anemic. She did say I was low on ferritin, but that my blood is looking good.
I was pretty insistent about adding TSAT but she did not budge.
I am not giving up on having that included in my next blood work, but I was wondering if you guys can give me some pointers on how to word it in my email that I will send my doctor so that she will understand that RLS has some guidelines with that (I did mention that to her).

Benzodiazepines

I have been on Paxil for many years. I read somewhere that it can have negative effect on my RLS.
I want to get off Paxil by tapering off slowly. My concern is if I’m off** it that my panic attacks might come back?
What came up in my research was Benzo.
Has anyone on here been on benzo , did it help you
with panic attacks? **Did it interfere with your RLS?

RLS journey

I have been on here for about two weeks. I joined because I wanted to find out what other people have experienced with their RLS.
I have it real bad for the last six years, my doctor put me on Requip;
The first dosage prescribed was 2mg!! of course I took it because my doctor said I should take it. I am telling you I was like floating around dizzy not knowing where the heck I was. I contacted Dr. Service the next day immediately. doctor said, well , just take 1mg !! Because of the symptoms I had with the prior dosage I was scared, so I cut the 1 mg into half. So the 0.5 worked for close to two years, stopped working. Up it to 1 mg, worked for a little while, stopped working again.
Long story short, I am now on 2mg sometimes 21/2mg. I know I have to get off it because it is not really working anymore and I don’t want to go higher and higher.
I have been reading on this site about how others on this medication who stopped taking it and replacing it with another one. Reading the responses given from many shows how RLS is so individual based.
Some of you have already done more steps than I have, which I am now on the way to make to get off my current medication ; I just want to thank this community about being so open with their RLS journey.

Getting off Ropi

I am on Ropi 2mg sometimes 2 1/2mg depending how the night goes. I want to get off it, having augmentation. I have scheduled an appointment with my regular PCP to discuss it. I want to be put on a non-dopamine agonist drug to avoid augmentation.
What would be the best alternative to getting off Ropi.

Iron pills

My ferritin was just checked and it comes out to be 57. My PCP did say that I was too low for my RLS. She now wants me to take iron pills five times a week from the three times that I did take before I’m not sure how I feel about that yet, but what I wanted to ask is if you guys take iron pills and you have success with that, what kind do you take and what’s the dosage?

Sharp nails

**I have two cats one female and one male. The female lets me cut her nails fairly easily. She doesn’t struggle a whole lot. The male on the other hand is a total terror. He doesn’t even like to be held . I have never been able to cut his nails and they are super long he himself bites on them and I find little pieces of nails around the house. I’ve tried wrapping him in a blanket, doesn’t work. I have thought to take him to a salon to have them trimmed. He hates the carrier too, but I guess that would be my only option any other suggestions?**

Ferritin count

I have just received my ferritin count for my last blood work couple days ago and it stands at 57.
It increased by about 20 points from my last bloodwork, which is good but I don’t think it’s still high enough for my RLS. That is my opinion and thought on that I’m not sure what my PCP will say. I’m afraid she will say great job. it’s getting up there. I have been on iron supplements pill for about three months and so the increase might’ve been because of taking the pills. my question is
should I continue the pills hoping that I hit 100 ferritin count or should I ask my doctor for iron infusion?
I’m asking my fellow RLS peeps to give the input about them maybe taking pills versus infusions thanks

**So I am now looking into TENS muscle stimulator for my legs.**
**Wanted to get some input if anybody on here has tried it and what your opinion is about it, yah or nay.**
