[Omega SMP 300] A Bond bracelet 'came apart' in the mail?

I shipped this perfect watch in the original omega display and outer boxes, with bubble wrap around the outside of the box. The watch was on the omega pillow during shipping. It arrived to my buyer, who messaged me to say that the bracelet "came apart" in the box during shipping. I am of course offering him a full refund no problem, but he wants to keep the watch. He's just asking me how he can now get it fixed. The pins are in the box, but i'd guess those are broken. How the heck did this happen? The bracelet seemed so strong. And how can it possibly be fixed? I'm going to lose a lot of money if I have to buy a whole new bracelet.
