Jobs

On here for my son (he's 20 and still lives with us). He has been looking for a job that isn't factory work and can't seem to find anything. He's had interviews but it never results in anything. He does have limited hours he can work (because he can't drive) but not even Wal-Mart has given him a call back. Any leads?

Small victory

Today was day 1 of no wheat or gluten. Just wanted to share my victory.

Also seeing an allergist next week for a food allergy panel.

Gluten free

Is anyone here also gluten free? What kind of snacks do you eat? I recently discovered I’m gluten intolerant so I’m trying to eliminate it from my diet to see how I feel.

Where to start?

So I just took a blood test from Everlywell and it states I shouldn't have wheat or gluten. I have been having stomach issues and assumed it was related to my POTS but this shines a different light on things. So I'm going to try to go as gluten free as possible. Where should a newbie start? I appreciate any tips. Thanks!

Is a vet visit warranted?

So full disclosure, Shiek is a chorkie. She is 11. On Monday we went to the groomer for a face trim. When we got home she jumped out of the car. Since then she has been limping. We felt her leg and she didn’t wince at all. She was getting better every day with using it until today. Now it’s like she has gone backwards.

Sometimes when she walks so walks on it. At first it was rare and then it was almost all of the time until today. I really don’t think it’s broken. I think it’s sprain. But I feel bad because it is obviously causing trouble. Do you think a vet visit is needed?

I’m not asking for medical advice, just if you would go to the vet.

Pic for tax, lol

We recently got a love seat and it is seated across from the AC. I think Taz approves.

Destruction

When does it stop? Nyx is a 1.5 years old and we just had to go on a squeaker hunt because she tore one out and destroyed the squeaker. We had to make sure she didn’t eat anything. The worst part? A chew bone was right next to the squeaker. She choose this violence.

Learned a new phrase

I have posted before about learning French for my dog. Learned a new phrase for her today. She tried to eat a squeaker. So I had to learn how to tell her not to eat stupid things today. Hopefully it helps, lol.

Good news

So this is the opposite of a rant. I had my one year cardio check up today. They are happy I am no longer passing out. They don’t think my tummy problems are POTS related so they want my PCP to work on that (which I don’t mind). But glad I don’t need further testing. Heart rate and blood pressure are under control and that is what matters. Do I still
Have POTS symptoms? Yes but they are manageable for the most part. I have reworked my life to work around my POTS.

Sex Question

Does anyone else want to have sex but doesn't have the energy for it? My wife has health issues too so the lack of sex hasn't bothered her. But it bothers me. Like, we used to have sex multiple times a day (granted that was 21 years ago). Now we go months without because we just don't feel good. Just wondering if we are alone here.

She’s learning

So Nyx is a little over a year old. She is finally learning to snuggle me when I don’t feel good. Here is a pic of her snuggling me today.

CEUs - Level 3 Autism

So my life has recently changed the demographics of those I can serve has changed. I am going from mostly serving Level 1 autism individuals to Level 3 autism individuals. I am being supported by my directors in this. However, I am open to any CEUs about how to help those with more significant deficits. Please let me know which CEUs you enjoyed or helped. Thanks!

2 questions

I’ve come into a unique situation I haven’t been in before and would like some advice. I have a tech who is doing mostly academic work. This seems to be at the urging of the mother. I’m remote so that makes things a bit difficult. And mom rarely wants to talk to me. I know this needs addressed ASAP but any pointers would be appreciated.

Also, how do you feel about religion in sessions? I heard my tech talking about Jesus today. Dunno if mom encouraged it or not (getting to the bottom of that). But isn’t that like academics and not something we should be teaching?

Thanks!

Stomach issues

So I think I have Sjogren's or MCAS or both but can't find a rheumatologist to see me. Anyways, I see that both POTS (which I do have) and Sjogren's and MCAS can cause stomach issues. How do you tell the difference between what is causing it? I'm not looking for medical advice, just any tips on figuring out the difference.

For reference, I barely eat (yet don't lose weight unfortunately) because I feel full quickly. And after I eat certain foods I get nauseous (which I'm assuming is POTS). But the worst part recently, it comes and goes, is the middle of the night heart burn and nearly puking. I do have a Zofran script that I use for worst case scenarios but I hate that I have to use it.

Teenager help

I generally don’t work with teenagers so I’m a bit out of my wheelhouse. Furthermore, I’m remote and I didn’t do the initial assessment. Another BCBA does that. So now I have an authorization to work with a teenager below the age of consent for behavioral health services who doesn’t seem to want services. He is refusing to engage with me or my on site tech. I suggested to the tech to talk about things he likes. Besides that, what can we do? How long do we give me (in general since I know this is company specific) before we give up due to lack of cooperation? Thanks for any help you can give.

Showers

How often do you shower?

I will admit I feel like an unwashed monster because I can only manage to shower 1-2 times a week due to how much it takes. Am I alone here?

Do you ever wake up some days and just know it's going to be a bad day? Like you feel it in your bones so you just don't want to leave the bed?
