My return to clowning.

Back in the day when people asked my if I still play League my answer was no, I just play shaco. Corny - yes. The truth - also yes.

Anyway. Haven’t touch the game in a very very long time.

What’s new about shaco, and what’s your best build and tactic for support role ?

Men, what do you do when you land money to a friend and he doesn’t give them back

Fellow men, I have this conundrum.
I gave a friend 1000$ so he can pay his bills and set up one of his properties for sale as he was facing some hard times in between jobs.

He originally asked for 500$ and promised he’ll give them back when he sells the apartment by the end of the week.

That was a month and a half ago. Over the course of this situation he not only did not return the 500$ I gave him originally but he asked for smaller loans till we made it to a 1000$.

Every week he has an excuse as to why he doesn’t have the money. Even though he told me he sold the property successfully for 200k.
(By the way he asked for money I am worried he didn’t sell anything but has a gambling problem and is lying)

I gave the money to him out of my desire to help a friend in hard times. I would have understood if he explained he won’t return them soon or ask for instalments, but he promised he will return them by the end of the week and that week ended up being 45 days as of today.

He even knows my mom is in bad condition and I pay for her medical procedures too.

As a man, asking you. Do you think I did the right thing by giving him the money and the pushing him every other week instead of just letting it go and give him time?

Most valuable skill in the corporate setting is keeping your mouth shut

Learned this the hard way last week.

And I even have a solid 10 year experience.
Being vocal of your opinion can and will come to bite you eventually.

My team got this assignment where we basically have to be client success managers to clients we barely know on top of our Project Management duties, which I didn’t see any logic in.

A colleague caught me in a state where I just needed a little push so I unbuttoned my face hole about it.

Told them - I have no idea about the client, about their services and how they are like. I have not had them transferred to me yet and I don’t see how I’m going to be a better success manager for them than a real success manager.

2 weeks later, all the managers know what I said that day to my colleague BUT the version they know is that “ I have no idea about the services in general, not the client in particular and that I refuse to work with them.”

Couldn’t give you a better advice than this. If you’re new to corporate life. Please learn when to speak, how to say it and definitely don’t share your thoughts with management first before if even ever you do with a colleague.

Why (how) do people enjoy vacations?

I was just wondering. I haven’t vacationed since 2018 in a sense that I would take a PTO, book a hotel or an apartment and just go there for a week.

I do go places but it’s always for a specific reason, like… for example going to see a game or a concert and I would usually go immediately back to work.

I have never enjoyed “traveling” just to sightsee or just to do nothing and I feel like it’s something psychological. I just can’t switch off that part of my brain that thinks about all the things I need to accomplish, or worry about or bring up the things that would make me feel bad for taking some time off the grind. I guess you can call it workaholism but it’s not just work, it counts my life outside of work too.

And I’ve noticed how people go on vacations, just relax and do f-all and come back recharged and have stories to tell, whilst myself… I’m cringing just by the thought of paying to go exist somewhere else, go spend money on restaurants with questionable food all week long - breakfast lunch and dinner and just do light walks and have cocktails.
I just can’t seem to understand it and I’m genuinely curious how you guys do it.

Maybe my brain is just wired to always have an objective and the stimulus derived from that type of lifestyle isn’t satisfying my needs?

Should I lose this friend group?

Known these guys since high school. Early years after graduation everything was amazing. We used to hang out over 24hr in the summer when we had break from university.

Life happened to all of us and here we are all 30yo men. We used to at least have a call every once in a while to check and talk with each other.

All got married, and some even have kids now. I’m the last one standing but that’s precisely why I feel alienated intentionally.

I constantly had to deal with backhanded remarks about my current girlfriend at the time in the rare occasions I was called to hang out with them.

My dad died and nobody even called to check on me. They knew. They said sorry but that was about it. Didn’t even offer general help out of common courtesy.

Now in the group chat I read “do you want to organise FAMILY trip next Sunday?

It’s not like their balls weren’t already in their wives purses and they basically have fused with each other at this point. Knowing them I can tell this was a hint that I am not invited.

I feel like we were friends based on the condition that we all follow the same mediocre middle life route. And when I faced hard times and couldn’t keep per schedule for marriage and kids, I was left in the dirt.

I’m really considering just getting out of this circle if this could be considered a circle any more. Shame that I called them my best friends once.

Mom needs help and no one from our family is willing to help in hard times.

I just feel so betrayed by everyone in our family.
Mom just went through surgery and is unable to drive. Unfortunately at this time I have my license suspended and I’m not able to drive her home myself.

All the family we have just left her, when she used to take care of them when they needed help.

I understand that we are all busy, but… nobody came to visit her in the hospital, nobody even called me to ask if I needed help caring for her when she stayed at my place. We even have a nurse in the family that worked 2 minutes away walking from the hospital my mom staid… didn’t even come see her for 2 minutes.

She calls all morning and everyone just shuts her off. “I can’t drive you right now” “can’t you wait till Friday?” … like they are more concerned about their convenience. We are not asking out of convenience but out of necessity. She NEEDS to go back home and it’s tough luck that I am unable to drive right now but turns out the family and the friends she thought she had are no where to be found.

Same woman (my mom) that would sleep in hospitals or take days off to accommodate cousins that had severe issues, now these people worry more about their convenience than for her.

Like… big deal. it’s a 1 hour drive. Sadly nobody wants to sacrifice their Monday evening to help a family member in need.

It’s hard to realise how friends adjust you

It’s pretty hard to grasp for some people how your friends shape who you are.

Not necessarily on purpose but most people tend to hold you in place for the friendship to work. It’s either you move and change and you are no longer friends or you stay the same and keep the relationship.

I’ve lost like 99% of my friends from my childhood simply because I wasn’t in their lane anymore.

Didn’t marry and get a dominant wife I need to ask for permission to breathe and I lost some friends I knew since high school. Simply because I wasn’t in their social circle of friendly families.

Stopped playing sports in college, all of a sudden… no longer having anything to say with my teammates outside the hall.

I’m pretty sure I ostracised people simply because they are going further away from my interests and that’s how I know it is not intentional in most cases.

Got only a few people who stuck with me regardless of what phase of life I was and I think that’s the most precious thing.

I feel like people need to realise that it doesn’t matter if you’re friends since you were born. What matters is your people will treat you the same and care about you regardless if you become a begger or the president.

Lefty wood sold in Europe

Looking to build my first guitar project.
Problem is I’m a lefty and bodies and necks have proven to be hard for me to source in Europe.
Chances are I just may not know where to look for them.

So far I found some on Temu of all places going for like 40 €.
Before I just go ahead and purchase those (especially the neck is super risky) I wanted to ask here where do you source lefty wood wear if you happen to know?

I know this brand Dr.Parts sells similar kits but everywhere I looked, it was only right handed.

Thanks in advance

Not all friends of mine are equal

I feel like I have failed to recognise which friends are good early on in my years.

I’m a 30 year old man and I have a tight circle of friends who keep proving to me that I made right choices.

Some on the other hand who for the longest time I considered THE closest people in my life have proven to me that I also made some misjudgments.

I have few guys from back in high school that I used to call best friends for like 10 years. Life went on and as we grew older, some of us got married, got kids I began to realise these friendships were conditional and transactional.

As soon as some of them got the ring on their finger I was left out of groupings, hang outs …because I was single and/ or in a casual relationship with a woman they don’t like.

My current circle I’ve known for almost just as long and I feel bad for not recognising that they were actually the real ones all along. Because now, that I need them… the high school buddies are too busy to even give me a 2 minute call while these guys, they are driving 3 hours to come help me no question asked.

My mom is ill and I needed help. Blood donations, transport and what not. These guys didn’t even wait for me to ask them, they grouped and organised and helped me out. While the people I was so foolish to call best friends just “wished me luck”.
Keep in mind that the friends I say help me are also married with kids but they don’t use that as an excuse.

I feel so lucky having found the people that are around me now and didn’t just stick with my original group because now I would have been f-ed.

What’s your music opinion you get the most hate for ?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some people love things others can’t stand. This post is not meant to rage bait or stir pots. I’m genuinely curious about what other people think that may be considered unpopular by most others.

My most controversial opinion with my peers and people from my generation is that I think Techno music is generally devoid of substance and personality. Like empty calories.

Maybe you hate a band everyone tries to convince you it’s the greatest of all time. Maybe you like that one Island Boys song.

So… What is it?

I just purchased my first guitar last month. Despite all the advice I got against getting a left handed piece and all the inconveniences with being a lefty in this world I got one. I’m 30 and “sort of” ambidextrous. My fine motor skills are all in my left hand and my right one is more of a brute force tool.
I graduated art school with drawing with my left hand and at the same time played volleyball at a national level with my right hand.

The natural way I perceived hold a guitar was always the left handed way. But I’m not reconsidering my decision given that I’m still a blank sheet so to speak. I only know how to play few notes cleanly and I’m still struggling to move my right hand up and down the neck to the correct fret anyway.

My question is…do I scrap the left handed and get a right handed one?

I’m left handed. I want to assemble my own thing. You know… paint it, pick a pick guard, do some custom artwork and head stock and put some good electronics. I’ve already disassembled and reassembled my Yamaha like 100 times but I wanna build something from scratch tho….

It’s hard for me to source bodies, necks and pick guards for lefties in Europe.

I have a big website that delivers to my country but it only has right handed kits.

Where can I source at least the wooden components if you know?
