Band Looking for Opportunities

Hello, my fellow music people,

Me and a few other dudes who play instruments have gotten together and we're kind of in the weird gray area where we're technically a band, but we haven't played any gigs or anything yet, just practiced. We're all high school-age (2 graduated this past May, me and another guy are going to be seniors this year, and the other dude will be in 11th grade this year), and we are kind of at a loss for what we should do right now.

We're in the central Minnesota area, so we were about to sign up for the Amplify Music Contest in Perham, MN, but we can't because not all of us are 18 yet. That being said, does anyone here know of any music events we are able to participate in in our area or close to our area? We're a metal band btw. If anyone knows of any, please let me know. Or if anyone has any tips on how to do this whole band thing, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hot Take: I don't agree with the hate for the St. Anger snare.

Theres prolly gonna be people that agree with me on this anyways, but I think what most people don't understand is that St. Anger came out when nu-metal was at its peak, and Metallica needed a sound to make themselves sound slightly rough around the edges to fit in with a lot of the bands in the genre. That included making their guitar tones have a more muddy, grungy feel, and replacing Lars' snare drum with a large metal colander from Walmart. I honestly like the sound, it gives the album a unique feel.

Ford Fiesta Stereo

Hello, I have a 2014 Fiesta that I'd like to get a new touchscreen stereo for. Anyone know of any that work good in it? My fiesta has the base model radio in it, and I'd preferably like to get a stereo that has Android Auto and preferably has a little more processing power (so it doesn't lag a ton or take 5 million years to load), if possible. Anyone that knows of some good ones for like $200-$350, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks

Bias X... is it worth it?

I have a Line 6 Pod Go running through a Boss Katana Gen 3 50-Watt right now, and mostly play metal... is it worth it to get Bias X, and run it through an FRFR speaker? I don't know how good it is or how good the tones are on it. But I have seen that YouTube creators like Sightline Guitar use PG Bias, and just curious if its worth the money, since I do already have an audio interface to run the whole setup.

Vinyl wrapping.

Another question. Anyone ever tried vinyl wrapping a guitar? And if so, did it turn out well? Im thinking about wrapping the neck on my Ibanez RG8 black to match the body and front of the headstock.

Pickups: Worth the upgrade?

Hello again, my fellow guitar people.

I recently picked up a black Ibanez RG8 (its actually so sick🗣🔥🔥🔥💯), and it has came to my attention whether or not its worth it to upgrade pickups.

Right now, it just has "Ibanez IBZ-8 passive ceramic humbucking pickups" according to Google, and from my experience with active pickups on my Schecter C1 Blackout (it has EMG 81-85s on it), i absolutely love active pickups so much more, since i mostly play metalcore/other heavy stuff.

My question is.... i have been looking at Fishman Fluence Modern active pickups for my 8-string, and according to Google, itd be a "massive upgrade" over what its got now. Is it worth doing? Or is it mostly just a matter of personal sound preference? And as for my Schecter, if i hypothetically put FF moderns in that too, would it be better than the EMG 81-85s? And if so, would it sound exactly the same as the RG8 w/ FF moderns, just without the 2 bottom strings?

Pod Go tones?

I was wanting to get into making guitar cover for YouTube, but does anyone have any presets or recommendations (yes, ive already looked at customtone) for a good tone for the Pod Go that isnt way too muddy or obnoxious?

A metalcore-ish tone would be nice. I use my 6-string with active pickups 90% of the time, but I also have an 8-string, so if anyone has any tones more suitable for each guitar I would appreciate it.

NEED HELP with Vinyl Repair

I am in such a predicament right now. I bought a Linkin Park Hybrid Theory vinyl from Walmart a few weeks ago, since i had just gotten my first record player. Today i bought another player at a garage sale, and since the needle on it was too light and didnt work right, it must have scratched the vinyl and now a few seconds of the first track skip over when i play it on my WORKING player. Yes, happens every single time, i tried it numerous times. Same spot. Is there any way at all to fix this? Its not exactly a visible scratch since i didnt notice it till after i played it. Im assuming there is no way, but any help would be appreciated because i dont want to buy a replacement for over 30 bucks. Sorry if it seems like im overreacting, but this is my first vinyl i ever bought, and im really new to vinyls and i hate how expensive they are. I really really dont want to have to buy a new one if i dont have to.

EDIT: And if there is no way to fix the record itself... any way to repair the player? Idk if it makes sense when i explained it as the needle being too light... when i played the record, even though it was set to 33, it played at a much higher pitch and speed than what it should have been. It is a Craig CD684a-BLS.

PSX mods?

Recently acquired a PSX from my relatives... any mods people have done to them? I do also want to get a portable screen for it, but im not wanting to spend $450 on the official one from Sony, so any recommendations on alternatives would be nice. Also wondering if its possible to get a rechargable power supply for it so it can be completely portable.
