Does my original piano composition "Sounds of Rain" give good vibes? I spent forever writing it, and I feel like it starts off super chill and then takes me on a journey through all different types of rain, even though that sounds super cheesy. What is one word you would use to describe it?

It's always fun to see what other people think :)

What's one word you'd use to describe my solo piano composition called "Sounds of Rain" and/or does it remind you of anything?

This took me forever to write, and I then took forever to come up with a title. I'm not sure what other people will think of the music, and it always feels vulnerable and exciting at the same time to post. But I felt like the song explores different types of rain sounds, like fast swirling rainfall as well as bright and happy light rainfall--so the same "Sounds of Rain" felt fitting :)

One minute timelapse of me composing in MuseScore the first few measures of “Winter Wind Chimes” and then a clip of the first few measures playing at the end of Timelapse

Not even sure if this one is good enough to finish. If I even finish it, it will probably be a couple weeks away but thought it would be fun to share this timelapse. I compose mostly by ear and am studying music theory :)

Still not sure if these measures are finalized enough yet either. Sometimes I also get halfway through a song and just feel like it’s not working and start over with a completely different melody haha. I have so partial songs and only a handful of completed ones, which I’m sure is common

As I learn more music theory, I’m sure I wont need to rely on the playback feature as much haha

Spent like ten hours writing this piano piece “Feeling Reminiscent” and wanted to share! What do you think the vibe is? Chill music? Background music? Simple music? Boring music? Haha

Always feels vulnerable to post but curious what people think!

I don’t get the algorithm at all - stats below. Can we discuss how algorithm works?

I’m seriously considering removing my content from the platform

Long form relaxing piano music

Five min 22 second song

Average view duration of 2min 52sec (54% of video)

72% still watching at 30 second mark

44% of all viewers listen to the ENTIRE SONG, the full 5min 22seconds

Ctr is 3.3% which sounds low but I’ve read average for piano us like 2%-4%

Stats are from 170 views almost all from suggested videos spanning 30+ different videos

Despite all of this. Getting about 12 views a day on this song and that’s it

It’s only been posted less than a month so maybe it’s a waiting game

Just spent hours and hours making this music and it’s frustrating to see the algorithm not push it even with good stats—or maybe the stats aren’t as good as I think

Like do I really need even better stats? Is it just a waiting game?

My channel is only five weeks old. Maybe that’s part of it

I love YouTube but this is confusing

Anyone tried posting Instagram reels with link in bio to YouTube? Wondering if this will help with subscriber growth but also think it sounds tiring to have content on both platforms

I’m guessing the conversion rate is low but would be interested to hear other people’s experiences

Been getting like one view an hour on long form content for weeks. Anyone else?

Just wondering why it’s so slow haha. Guess one view an hour is better than none. Still seems so low tho haha

Guess it’s in the collection phase and my metrics are just decent so dunno if I’ll ever get more haha

Has anyone had like one view an hour and then have a long form content randomly start getting like 50 an hour. Like a huge spike

What’s one thing you like about this piece called “Feeling Reminiscent” and one thing that could be better?

Link to Sheet Music on Google Drive

While writing this, I noticed one specific note (b4) is repeated quite a bit at different times, and I’m not sure if it’s a pedal point or something else. But it was a fun piece to write

Even though I tried to write something different, I feel like it sounds similar to my other piano compositions

I also feel like the hairpins might be a little excessive, but that’s more just to try and get musescore playback to sound better

I also can’t decide if I like muse sounds grand piano or soft piano better—guess it just depends on the specific piece

Is it true that a few videos make up the majority of views for a channel?

I’m sure it varies. But like I have a few videos getting almost all the views. Kinda interesting. Then quite a few that almost never get views (must have worse thumbnail or just be worse piano songs) idk

I guess this is Pareto principle right?

Maybe it depends on the channel too. Like I feel like the top channels get lots of views on all of their posts haha #goals

What’s your favorite piano piece and the story behind why? I’ll start with Claire De Lune and share my story in the comments!

Just sounds like a fun discussion and also a new way to find new music suggestions for piano pieces :)

Self-Taught Contemporary Piano Composer Who Just Finished Writing “Snowflakes Falling” and wondering what word people would use to the describe the song?

Just curious what other people think :)

If you were to pick one word to describe the song, what would it be?

Made playlist on channel but most playlists views are from other playlists? What?

I don’t get it. Like how can there be other playlists with my songs? Are other channels stealing my content? Does YouTube auto generate playlists for people? Or can people add my songs to their own person playlist but it counts as a playlist stream for my channel? I find this all very confusing and don’t know if it’s good news cuz more streams or bad news cause someone else using my content haha

I changed all my titles to be SEO friendly, and now my impressions dropped

Used to get 200 impressions a day across all my videos. Now it’s like 10 a day. Does the algorithm need time to adjust? I wish I hadn’t changed the titles now haha

The algorithm is so confusing sometimes

Anyone else done something similar with titles and regretted it?
