Posting wedding pictures on social media

I went to a wedding last night and want to post some pictures on my Instagram story. I've heard that proper etiquette is not to post pictures until the bride and groom post their own, because they want to control how people see their wedding, which I understand. Would this apply to Instagram stories as well, where the posts would disappear after 24 hours? I'm not going to make a permanent post on my page until they do, but I'm curious what the common thoughts are about Instagram stories.

I'm sure it's fine to post pictures of my friends and I that don't include the bride and groom, but there's a few pictures that I'm unsure about. One picture is of the groom and I at the after party, so not at the actual wedding. The other picture I'm unsure about is of the bride and groom being lifted up while sitting in their chairs.

For additional context, I'm friends with the groom but don't know the bride very well and don't have her on social media. The mother of the groom has already posted a picture of their dance, and the groom shared someone else's Instagram story of his and the bride's first dance. Other than these I haven't seen any posts from anyone else so far though.

Do you think it's fine to post the pictures I described on my Instagram story?

Thank you, Congressman Larson

It looks like Luke Bronin will be the next Congressman for the Greater Hartford area. While I voted for Bronin, I wanted to share my appreciation for John Larson's lifetime of service. I don't think he did anything wrong to warrant being fired, I voted for Bronin purely because of a desire to have younger people in Congress.

One thing that's come up a lot during this race is the medical episode that John Larson had on the House floor last year, where he froze for about 30 seconds mid-speech. While this is surely a sign that he needed to retire, I want to focus on something else about this. When Larson had this episode, he was in the middle of trying to protect Social Security benefits for working class people. Despite the fact that he was clearly going through something at that moment, he pushed through it to advocate for the little guy, and I don't want that to go unnoticed.

Thank you for everything, Congressman, and all the best in your retirement.

My Low Passenger Rating

I rarely use Uber/Lyft and just found out the other day that passenger ratings are a thing. I checked mine and it's a 4.76, which I assumed was very good. If this was in school it'd equate to about a 95 and an A, which why wouldn't that be good? But to my surprise, that's apparently considered bad?

I've taken 17 Ubers since 2018, and I've gotten 16 5-stars and 1 1-star. I can't imagine why someone gave me 1 star- I don't drink, have never made a mess, always tip, and can't recall a time I was ever late. I mainly only take Ubers to/from the airport when I'm on vacation, and I just sit there quietly for the most part.

My Lyft rating is even worse- a 4.33. I've taken 6 Lyfts since 2018 and got 5 5-stars and 1 1-star. From what I've read on these subreddits, a 4.33 (87%, B+) is laughably bad and no self-respecting driver will ever pick me up because only a monster would have a score that low. Again, I can't figure out how I possibly got this rating.

I haven't taken an Uber or Lyft in about 2 years, and looking back at it, I had a difficult time getting one the last time I tried, and I now understand why. It just seems like such a ridiculous system where one driver can choose to forever ruin your ability to get picked up again without having to give a reason for it. People will probably comment and say just keep riding and get your score up, but apparently nobody wants to pick up someone with a 4.33, and there's also the risk that another driver will give me a 1 star review for no reason and make the score even worse. Upon learning what's considered a bad score, I'm worried about getting stranded somewhere because no drivers want to pick me up. At the very least, these scores shouldn't be visible until the passenger has taken a minimum amount of rides.

Would it be weird to add my former dental hygienist on Facebook?

I had been seeing the same dental hygienist every 6 months for 5 years, and at my last appointment I found out that she has gotten a new job at another dental office. For context she's mid 40s and married, and I'm a single 30 year old guy. We had no relationship outside of my appointments, but it felt like her and I had gotten close over the years. Like we would always pick up right where we left off at the previous appointment, if I told her I had a trip planned in a few months she'd remember and ask me how that trip was at my next appointment. She'd also get personal with me and vent to me about things like how she wants her 18 year old daughter to be less shy about talking to boys. Maybe she's just naturally friendly and open with everyone, but it felt like we had developed a friendship. So now that she's no longer my hygienist, I've thought about adding her on Facebook to remain in touch, but I'm worried that it would be weird/creepy.

How would you feel if a former patient added you on social media?

Down the Hatch in Greenwich Village

A few months ago I was visiting NYC from out of state, and went to a bar in Greenwich Village called Down the Hatch. I'm a 30 year old guy and was there alone. This was a Saturday night and it was very crowded, with a younger crowd that looked like an average age of 25 or so to me, with many who looked college aged. I stayed for maybe an hour or so, had a nice conversation with a bouncer while watching a Yankees game but didn't talk to anyone else.

Before I left I went to the bathroom, and as I was walking in, a guy who was walking out at the same time pointed at me and went "yo, how *old* are you?" I told him I'm 30, and then the guy in line behind me, who I don't think was with the guy who asked the question, jumped in and said "that's an old-ass answer". He then said about 5 different variations of that line, things like "30 is old" "it's crazy to be that old", etc. He told me he was 23.

What I'm here to ask is, did I simply go to the wrong bar as a 30 year old? Is this a notorious college-only bar where it's weird to see a 30 year old, or was this guy just trying to be funny? This was in late May, when NYU had already graduated.

How screwed is my friend? 32, no savings, 20k debt

One of my friends is 32 years old with no savings and about $20,000 in credit card debt. She told me that her boss recently told her she's the only one at the company without a 401k, and she still chose not to set one up because she doesn't want her paychecks to be smaller.

She lives in NYC and makes about $60k per year. She doesn't have any major expenses that I'm aware of, she just spends all of her money on things she doesn't need, mainly going out to eat and drink every day. She doesn't pay rent, her boyfriend covers that, and I believe he makes around $120k per year. Yet even without needing to pay rent, she finds a way to blow all of her money. She's living a NYC life of luxury that she frankly can't afford, and every time I try to tell her to be responsible with her money she shuts me up.

About 7 years ago I gave her $2,000 to help her with her rent (before she had a boyfriend), and to this day she hasn't paid me any of it back, saying she'll do so once she pays off her $20,000 credit card debt. I'm well aware that I won't be getting this money back and that it was stupid of me to help her.

I'm definitely not giving her money ever again, but would like to see her get on the right track. Do you think there's any hope for someone like her? She seems allergic to saving money, like once it hits her account that's her money to spend on fun nights out until the next paycheck, and she can't think beyond that.

How bad will public transportation be on Saturday night?

I'll be in downtown Brooklyn for an event ending around 10:30 and need to get to Grand Central. I'm not in a rush, and don't mind taking the last train at 2:00 am if I need to. I'm not a Knicks fan, but I'm rooting for them and think it'd be cool to watch the end of the game in the city and be there for the celebrations if they win. The game should end around 11:30, so on a normal night I can probably get to the MSG area by 11.

So the questions really are:

  1. Will it be difficult to take the subway from downtown Brooklyn to the area around MSG? Should I expect the stops closest to MSG to be shut down? I've seen that happen in other cities during high-traffic events.
  2. Will the foot traffic make it difficult to walk from MSG to Grand Central?
  3. Once I get to Grand Central, should I expect it to be difficult to get on a train, even the last one at 2 am? The videos I've seen of Penn Station and the subway stations after the games have looked chaotic, but I'm not sure about Grand Central. I checked the live capacity on the trains on the MTA app during the last two games and they were moderately crowded around 12-12:30, but this is a Saturday where the Knicks might clinch the series, so I think it'll be worse.

Check Engine Light came on with code for Catalytic Converter for the 4th time in past year. Do I really need another converter, or is this a deeper issue? 2015 Honda Accord

Here's the timeline of events:

July 2025- Check engine light comes on for the first time. Mechanic tells me it's the catalytic converter, and I have it replaced there. This is a 2015 Honda Accord that I've had since 2018, and the first time I've had the converter replaced. It has 100,000 miles on it.

August 2025- The light comes back on again. I take it to the same shop, they confirm the code is for the converter again, and they replace the one month old converter under warranty. They told me that if the light comes on again, it's probably for the oxygen sensors.

December 2025- The light comes on a 3rd time. I have new oxygen sensors installed at a different shop.

May 2026- The light came on this week for a 4th time. I brought my car to Auto Zone, and their test said it's code P0420 for the converter again.

This seems suspicious that I'm having converters fail multiple times within a year, which makes me think there could be some greater issue here, such as an exhaust leak. One thing that may support this is an incident that happened in June 2025, a week or so before the light came on for the first time. I was parking on grass and accidentally ran over a sharp rock that made a loud screeching noise as it scraped the underside of my car. I brought it into a repair shop the next day (not the one that replaced the converter or sensors), and they said the only visible damage they saw was the flex pipe, and it was unclear if this was due to the rock or an existing issue. They replaced the flex pipe, and the shop that replaced the converter a month later said that the new flex pipe was not welded properly, and they fixed this.

I asked the shop that installed the converter if running over the rock could have caused the check engine light to come on, and they seemed pretty certain that the timing was just a coincidence. However, I've always been suspicious that the rock incident has led to everything else.

So given all of this, am I getting unlucky with bad converters, or is it likely that there's an underlying issue causing the check engine light to keep coming back on? Is it worth taking my car to a Honda dealership to get the problem diagnosed? The shop that installed the converter probably won't want to give me a 3rd converter under warranty without a proper diagnosis of the problem.

The guy I talked to at Auto Zone today recommended using Cataclean first before spending any money on repairs. Is this worth trying for like $30, or do you think this would be a waste of time?
