I’m a huge liquid glass apologist right, but I can’t help but get shocked the first time I saw the flaws in its design especially in this very niche but not impossible situation wherein the background is just fully white.

PS. This happened during a video call wherein they were screen sharing a white screen and for some reason they were streaming with HDR

Apple is not calling the shots for which banks came with Apple Pay

I just got off the phone with Apple Support for something regarding my apple wallet, pero not directly related naman apple pay, by the end of the call, I took a stab anyways and asked about the state of Apple Pay recently launching in the country and the status of both participating and yet to participate banks.

The support specialist reiterated the following points:
• Apple does not choose or wait for any banks outside of their intentions for launching services (I.E. Apple Pay)
• Apple does not adjust any dates for any bank in order to accommodate for them.
• Apple must receive permission/consent from the bank to process THEIR cards and does not go the other way around, the banks have final say.
• Apple does not have a wave rollout system with regards to having banks and apple pay support, they launched with the banks ready to partner with Apple and any succeeding bank to support Apple Pay may launch in their own accord (skeptical about this but we’ll see next Tuesday or whenever more banks enter to get a gauge whether it’s a systematic rollout or if any bank can just join at any time)

These look like promising info, just not in our favor, partially hope that these are wrong, especially the wave one, I liked the idea they’ll add more banks every tuesday till we catch up to Google Pay lists of banks.

Has anyone found a way to remove these?

I know it doesn’t do anything to the actual wallet or apple pay process but it’s kinda triggering me how its there after removing them, especially because it doesn’t sound like it’s fully removed from me at all, not to mention theres two of them. Neither I can use now because i deleted the tmoney app, and there is infact no close card option in said app too.

Is the Mastercard Debit Card Tap To Pay broken rn?

I tried just now both sa robinsons and national book store to tap the physical card and both just failed on a MAYA terminal, the first insert worked in robinsons and took 4 inserts before the black maya terminal read it as supported. What is going on? Ngayon lang ako nag use ng physical card and it doesn’t look great. No issues in my experience with Google Pay and my Maya Visa Virtual Card naman, is it a MC problem or a what?

BDO or BPI for someone used to DigitalBanks?

Been super into banking and finances for a good amount of time now, I’m still a minor though and therefore can’t open an account in a lot of banks, nor can i maintain them cause I’m not even employed. I have stable allowances though that I want to save up. I only currently have Maya and GCash to hold my funds, I inquired sa BDO branch at SM and they said na pede na pala ako mag open ng account na naka pangalan sakin basta present ang parent in the account opening. I don’t know the terms ng BPI kung pede pero im guessing di maglalayo ang requirements.

I just need one as close to a digibank as possible, I’ll need a tradbank for sure pero preferably one that has least trips to a physical branch, one that allows full control of the card on the app, one with an actually good app, all compressed in one and preferably we factor in the current situation, di ako oblivious dun sa daming down times ng bpi recently. Like very often, tapos sa bdo naman mabagal daw? I know both may have cons and pros one has more one has less advantages/disadvantages. Important din for me is which one is faster to adapt to modernization, good example narin is with regards to the news of cashless payments strengthening in the Philippines.

Who is the better Debit Card? And preferably they’ll probably be my partner na rin for long term in like credit cards etc.

Here's how I predict Apple Pay will be set up with the banks during launch

No doubt in my mind that as we speculated before, EVERY bank in the country will tag along in the launch whenever that may be (but too hard to deny that it's infact august 4 with all the pubmats leaking around). Along with these leaks came predictions of what banks will launch with them, some says its by waves, some says there's just a flat list and not even all of the current google pay cards are part of it.

I'd say it would include EVERY Google Pay card (because why wouldn't it), new entering banks that weren't part of Google Pay (i.e. metrobank in particular and etc) as well as every mastercard version of the existing and new cards in the banks. It's obvious google partnered with visa to spearhead thw launch of their Wallet app here in the country, should be expected (if not confirmed) thay apple partnered with mastercard, which is why you would see in Google's launch day it was basically just VISA cards, there were some mastercard variants that slipped out especially for banks who only used mastercard like BPI, but other than that, they held back on launching mastercard variants presumably until Apple joins the wallet scene.

This is especially backed by the piece of evidence regarding Samsung Pay in the Philippines recently, if you have a US region phone or samsung account, you could start adding your existing google wallet cards, and NEW cards that are supposed to be part of Apple's rollout. I know there's technical differences in implementing cards for Apple, Samsung, and Google's EWallets but if Samsung the service with the least amount of "demand", news, and updates, immediately supports a heck ton of cards even before launch. I feel like Apple would have the same if not even more once Mastercard goes all out on rollout.

Which leads me to believe the following masterlist of possible banks and cards to support on launch:

BPI - MC/VISA DEBIT/CREDIT

CHINABANK - MC/VISA DEBIT/CREDIT

EASTWEST - MC/VISA DEBIT/CREDIT

GCASH - MC DEBIT (maybe physically visa now too? Unless they add an add to wallet button on the app instead too)

GOTYME - VISA DEBIT (they don't use MC)

MAYA BANK - VISA CREDIT

MAYA WALLET - MC/VISA PREPAID/DEBIT

PALAWANPAY - PREPAID

PNB - MC CREDIT

RCBC - MC/VISA CREDIT

UNIONBANK - VISA/MC

WISE - VISA/MC(?)

ZED - MC CREDIT

METROBANK - VISA/ MC CREDIT/DEBIT

Ang walang pagasa na dumating on launch:

BDO

Maribank

BoC

These banks either have Terms and Conditions set wayy later than the launch day, or just don't have new terms and conditions at all which leads one to suspect what they plan to do at all.

Afterall even without speculation, kokonti nalang ang banks na di pa kasama or nagkukulang pang variants ng cards nila, the APay launch is just the perfect opportunity to close the gap and get every card of every bank working.

Onto acceptance rates, we can actually expect that it gets a LOT higher once the launch drops, it might come off as a surprise to plenty but as early as two months ago BDO have been updating their old blue yellow terminals nationwide to accept contactless payments by default, not a manual setting, cashiers just happened to accept them automatically. I found that out myself when I tried my luck a while back with a cashier and tapped my google pay on the old terminal and it actually went through, I can't verify the scale of how big the updates are spreading but as far as I can tell SM stores are getting first hand priority in getting these updates whereas Robinsons, despite implementing cashless support sooner, just use maya terminals and manually input the transaction details from the printed receipt, compared to SM and their ancient terminals hooked up to their ancient cash registers where the contact less payments do automatically process straight to the register.

Basically if an establishment has terminals it'll work, if it had older terminals, it has better chances of working, if they don't adopt any terminals then they still won't receive terminals but may atleast be pressured given the surge in contactless payments apple pay will bring.

Finally is the small but curious news a while back of Philippines being added to Apple's regions supporting "Tap To Pay" (not to be mistaken with apple pay), the system allowing iphones to receive payment directly through NFC effectively functioning as a payment terminal, i feel like this was either a mistake on Apple's end or if not I expect low adoption despite the swarm of Apple users in the country, simply because the swarm of users are consumers and not usually the same business people who has/don't have an EFT-POS terminal. It would be more useful to send and receive money offline between individuals, but let's face the truth that this will probably just be a business feature like with GCash Pocket Pay.

With all these store leaks going around, abenson, SSLife, Shein, and metrobank in particular having their pubmats leaked, CHINABANK and UnionBank having their apple pay website unlisted but is one click away from going live, UnionBank again accidentally pushing out the Text blast promoting Apple Pay recently. These are too many corporate slipups in such a short amount of time to not be a sign, that atleast, they initially all unitedly agreed on a date of launch and promotion, it got delayed and couldn't be adjusted because of the layers of approval they had to pass through to get it prepared in the first place. If Apple Pay doesn't launch on Aug 4 because they don't want to yet, they definitely might because everyone aroumd them is leaking it for them. Anywho, victory for us!!

P.S. I forgot to sneak in the fact that I don't believe only the banks that has "Supports Wallet" in the app store will be ready on launch, time and time again in different regions, banks are available to add cards manually via the Wallet app (Apple or Google) without having the "Add to Wallet" pop up which fuels the reason why I listed a lot more banks than the listed Wallet Supports banks

SM Staff do NOT take GCash Tap-To-Pay for some reason

Welcome back to new story time mga peeps, new day, new story with pay. Here’s a recent experience I saw with SM and tap to pay transactions.

Location: SM City Lipa

Sa SM Department Store actually when it came to check out yung purchases namin, di ako yung nag pay, kasama ko lang na nag TTP, anyways. Its nice to see na in this branch every department store kiosk has a PayMaya Terminal handy to accept TTP where their BDO terminals don’t, pero contradictory kasi in their supermarket naman in this same mall the BDO terminals(old blue) are updated na to accept both EWallets directly.

Here’s what’s weird, I found out sa staff na nag checkout samin na they don’t accept Tap To Pay through GCash, they DO however through Apple Pay. Medyo na mix ang reaction ko non kasi on one end okay yay edi they don’t accept GCash’s proprietary ttp option, pero also it SHOULD just work cause it still replicates a card transaction. Pano nalang kung ang alam lang ng customer is the proprietary option and not the two global norms? At the same time naman NATUWA AKO, kasi they’ve actually been oriented to accept the terms “Apple Pay” and “Google Pay” they explicitly said “we only accept tap to pay payments from Apple Pay” not explicitly mentioning Google Pay pero they understood naman when I told them paying with “GPay” so yun narin yun. Which does also mean, we can now coin the term “Do you guys take Apple Pay?” HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.

Takeaways from this:
-may atraso ang SM sa GCash tap to pay
-they accept/know about the terms “Apple Pay” and “Google Pay”
-There’s still a difference in how they accept the transaction between the supermarket division and the department store division one having the old blue bdo terminals updated and the other just flat out receiving it from a maya terminal.

Apple Music hasn’t synced the price hike for Individual plan but has for iCloud+?

I’m an existing subscriber of both plans, for reference the old prices were (₱139) and (₱49), following the price hike, they immediately reflected in the Apple Website and in the App Store. When I checked the Manage Plans option for iCloud+, all the plans including the one im subscribed to shows the new price which is (₱59) from the (₱49). Not the same case for AM, the price hike reflected for the Family and Student plan as shown in the photo but not in the individual plan. Where it remained (₱139), from what I understood in the articles this hike should both apply to all existing and new subscribers. This hike would make them cost the same as spotify which is why im trying to gauge whether im staying or going.

How do i get this thing a new case?

Not only can i barely find anything about these models with these shells, it’s incredibly tedious. They say its a 2.5 inch hdd but when i bought a 2.5 inch case from Orico, it connects fine but won’t close shut because its thicker. What exactly do i search for?

GCash is going absolutely contradictory with approach to Tap to Pay in the country

Let’s get the facts straight, from the beginning QR codes weren’t largely the issue in payments, we absolutely could have gotten by living with QR PH in the country. The problem is with signal and internet being too weak in more places than they should be to generate and scan these QR codes.

Prior to the entry of Google Pay, and these other EWallets that are planning to enter, certain banks have already taken the initiative to add their own In-App Tap to Pay in the country, exclusively for android due to their greater accessibility to the NFC system, but ever since it has never been any better than QR codes, maybe it saves the problem of having to scan with a bad camera or something right but largely the problem remained. No signal? No pay. Weak signal? No pay. It’s just QR PH in a shiny coat of paint.

Come Google Pay right? The marketing for it is gaining traction through Visa and Mastercard intervention, then GCash comes in here and partners with Shell Gas Stations NATIONWIDE to have them use their proprietary GCASH TAP TO PAY, who are they serving with this? They’re raising the country into thinking GCash Proprietary tap to pay is the premiere tap to pay experience, they’re not solving the tech illiteracy problem of tap to pay not needing internet to use it because they still need the app, when foreigners tell filipinos this they won’t believe them.

We partially know why Gcash is doing this, pushing GPAY as an option will always require gcash sharing a cut with google per transaction which when it piles up will amount to hundreds of thousands of pesos for Google in gcash payments alone. They’re probably recouping the fees by offering the discounts in partner with shell because they have no profits to share with another company so they can offer discounts for people who opt for their proprietary tap to pay software.

Why it sucks, it sucks so ass because using gcash tap to pay requires changing the default wallet app from GPay to GCASH, even when you have the app open (hope to be corrected) meaning when we went shopping in robinsons the other day the tap to pay wouldn’t push through from the home screen BECAUSE IT WAS SET TO GCASH, I have to change default nfc app between gcash and gpay all the time?

The route of how Tap To Pay will be perceived and recognized in the country will be tainted if Gcash, undeniably the biggest ewallet app, pushes for their own solution than the globally accepted solution.

I can’t navigate directly from house to a location because of this simple oversight…

Is there any way to report bugs like this? There’s no report field that specifically covers this, in the vastness of the entire world how am I in the minority that has an incomplete satellite mapping lmao. The only workaround is the set this area as a stop resulting in (actual house - “house” stop - location). I can navigate within the subdivision and navigate outside the subdivision but can’t cross between because of this simple oversight

Apple brings Baybayin and English (Philippines) support to iOS 27

One of the listed changes coming to all Apple devices from WWDC 2026 mentions adding new UI language for English (Philippines) following a more “local” dictionary incase English (US) may have anything that is missed. In addition, Apple is bringing Baybayin as an official keyboard language come iOS 27 in Fall 2026.

How does going uphill work and gear management?

Not keeping it too long, dati we drove ng Honda Brio na sa pretty steep uphill inclined wherein extra gear movement is needed. It used to have D-3-2-1 and i remember whenever nag struggle na yung car dumidiretso na kami to D3/3 and that seems to help it up faster with windows down. Now we tried the same incline on a Toyota Rush and from the getgo immediately assumed that wouldn’t be a problem, not to worry though kasi cars are cars so yaena, the gear system is medyo different into D3-2-1 merging yung 3 at general drive in one gear. Now when approaching incline mas natalab pa ang gear 1 to pick the pace up tapos yung gear 2 and 3 so on, which makes sense na gets ko naman same principle with acceleration in a manual car in general hindi dumidiretso ng D3. Pero nagtaka lang ako how that worked in the previous car if technically tama nga yung approach na ginagawa sa rush now.

PS. Parehas silang Automatic variants

BDO Yellow/Blue Terminals updated to take EWallets in SM Supermarkets

Bye bye to anxiously waiting for them to get a Maya Terminal from Customer Service!

The SM Supermarket (atleast the one I went to in Batangas) updated their BDO Terminals to support GPay (and based on logic, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay).

Initially I expected them to get a White Maya Terminal back at customer service like they did the last time, probably didn’t sit well with BDO and rushed to support it. One thing to note is that not all cashiers appeared to be informed about it, the last one took a white terminal at cust srvc, this one seemed confused and nag start lang ng debit card transaction from their cash register. Didn’t expect it to work but tapped anyways and surprisingly nag push through siya.

Not only a good thing for convenience and adoption of EWallet transactions, but if BDO had opened up their terminals to take these purchases, they may swallow their pride and finally drop BDO Pay, and actually may be already working on Apple and Google Pay support.

That July 20 rumor doesn’t seem far off now that we look at it.

P.S. Its worth noting these terminals had already supported tap to pay in other stores like Surplus before, but only now did they support it for their supermarket stores and im hoping the department store too.

About to sail the seas and I have a couple of questions

I doomscrolled about this already so most of the questions have been squashed, thank you posts from 4 years ago. I held out for around 6 ish years but i realize I can’t keep up with the prices of these games so whatevs.

I’m gonna have a technician get my lcd replaced and along with it have it Jb’ed since I’m more of a software guy and can’t do jack on hardware.

What are the first things I have to look for and setup that the guy might miss? From the get go they have antiban as part of the setup so thats the exosphere im guessing and DNS MITM, what else?

What is the bare minimum setup i can have to get the ball rolling? I preferably dont want multiple apps doing the same purpose and becoming bloat that would confuse anyone who could possibly borrow my switch

Is it possible to have my legally owned games and pirated games to co exist in one UI? Is that a thing on sys cfw?

Is 128gb enough? The economy sucks and a 256 card is alot more expensive, i can’t invest at the moment seeing as I have to cough up for the LCD replacement that has broken TWICE NOW. (And also how big REALLY is the essential jailbreak stuff? At its bare minimum that just does the job)

What is the most plug and play solution for atmosphere? As much as possible trying to avoid sys cfw, preferably either CLEAN af or DIRTY AS HECK. Ofw works fine and flawlessly since its devoid of anything on the sd card, but I need a crystal clear solution as to make sure anyone else except me who uses the switch and ends up on atmosphere won’t accidentally click open some tools, tweaks, connect to the internet, anything that would result in a banned switch.

When are we getting Nintendo EShop Philippines?

I was off the nintendo scene for a good 2 years now after my nintendo switch V2 screen gave out A SECOND TIME due to the hot weather (awful luck). Though im planning to bring it back and repair it someplace else who would probably have better screens (?) and give it some love again. Knowing that, is there any updates regarding the announcement of NS Eshop on the Philippines region? I only just saw the announcement a couple of minutes ago that it was supposed to be launched with the switch 2, but no update ever since.

Why can’t I get directions from home to anywhere outside?

Location: Philippines

Turn by turn has just been enabled in the country recently, and in all instances but this one, it’s been smooth and seamless in navigation. Dare i say somehow better than Google Maps, my only problem is I live in a subdivision, deep into one. Unlike Google Maps I can’t navigate directly to places from the house straight to where I want to go, I have to wait till i leave the subdivision and enter the main highway road to navigate with AMapps, it gives “Driving Directions not available” but for some reason, if im around the subdivision going for a jog and need turn by turn walking directions back to my house, it works perfectly within the subdivision. It just struggles to navigate me outside of the place, what fault of apple is this?

Laking GCash and Maya po ako with Maya now as my main since it’s my only bank with a savings system (registered minor account). Sa GCash the funds are ready for use sa debit card nila and sa maya if nasa savings (para tumubo) ang money di magagamit sa debit. Is there any bank that just has a passively growing savings balance thats also ready to use on debit without transfers?
