Shipping Time & Actions To Take?(Asking for future reference)

*I’m asking this to get an idea of how to handle future orders that might take a while to ship, or if something unexpected happens with an order.*

What’s the average time it takes for an item to ship?
Also has anyone ever experienced an item not being shipped? Is there a policy or support you need to contact in such a case?

I ordered two items on the 30th of June, so about 5-6 days ago, and I’m expecting it to be shipped within 7 days. In the unlikely chance that it doesn’t ship, what do I do? Just asking so I know for future reference.

What would some reasons be for an item not shipping, and is there a timeframe I should give them before I need to take action to get a refund or a replacement item? Thanks in advance!

I would love to hear about some of your stories / experiences when shopping in ShopGoodwill!

Flying internationally from the Caribbean, is this okay for packing alcohol?

I’m flying out of the Caribbean tomorrow, and I don’t have any special ziplock bags or containers that I can safely store my two bottles in.

Both bottles are 1 litre each, and both have 18% volume of alcohol. Both bottles are plastic and not glass.

This is also my first time flying with alcohol, or anything in the food and drinks category, so I’ll make sure to declare this at customs. The total price for both bottles is $32.

I have them wrapped in these towels with a rubber band around them to keep the towels around them, and I’m going to add more clothing to better cushion it.

Will customs have an issue if it’s packed like this? Does this look suspicious or anything?

Again this is my first time flying with drinks, and I don’t have any time to buy a professional container as I fly out tomorrow.

Thanks in advance, Reddit!

Edit:
Thanks for all of the comments, I’ll take all of the advice and pack them accordingly!

Edit-2:
They both survived the flight and customs didn’t have a problem with them!

Website won't let me pay for an item that was "Buy Now"

Over the past day or so, my gf and I hopped on the website to see if there was anything we wanted. We don't resell any items we get or anything, it's more for us.

We bid on multiple items and won 4 of them. One of those items was a "Buy Now" item. That item was a telescope, along with another one of those items which was also a telescope, but it was a bid. They're both for my father, so for shipping I put them in his name. (We share the same address).

I was able to pay for 4/5 items, except for one of the telescopes.

I go to my 'Open Orders' > Find the item > $Pay > and enter my information. For the shipping method I selected 'FedEx GROUND_HOME_DELIVERY', and all information is entered correctly.

I tried clicking "Proceed To Payment" though it keeps me on the same page titled, "Checkout Order". Below the item it a button that says "Click Here to delete this order", and I haven't seen that on any of the other orders I have.

Does this mean that there's an error with my order, and if so what do I do? Should I contact the seller, or contact support?

This is the first time I've had this happen before, so I'm kind of stuck.. thanks for the help!

Additional Information:

The item was listen under "Buy Now", and I added it to my Open Orders. The auction ended yesterday, so I thought I had 7 days to pay for it, though they wouldn't accept my payment. Are auctions listed as "Buy Now" treated differently?

I deleted the order from my cart and tried adding it back, but it said that the auction was ended. It also only said that it was soldout once I added it to my cart.. so..?

[First Time Flying With Alcohol] Do I need to declare alcohol in checked baggage at customs when returning from the Caribbean on an international flight?

So I'm flying from Guadeloupe back to the U.S. and I'm bringing back two plastic bottles of alcohol. Both are 1 liter bottles with 18% volume of alcohol. I’ve flown domestic and internationally multiple times, though I’ve never imported goods such as food, drink, or alcoholic beverages before.

The alcohol is unopened and inside of it's original retail containers when I first purchased them, though is there anything else I should do to make sure they're safe?

I made sure that they're plastic instead of glass so that they don't break, I was also planning on putting tape around the caps to ensure that it doesn't bust open while on the plane in the cargo.

Is that a good idea, or would customs or the airport staff have an issue with anything added such as tape or labels I put on them? Thanks in advance!

Edit: I did look into this, but most posts I found were talking about alcoholic drinks on the plane, and not checked baggage questions regarding alcohol.

Also both bottles of alcohol were around $14 and $18for each, so around $32 for the two.

Lost French visa refusal letter from 2024, how can I get the refusal reasons from it? (Please read Desc)

So in 2024 I went to an appointment for my visa and waited for the answer.

I’m planning on applying again, but I was trying to find my old refusal letter to see exactly what those reasons were, though I think it may have accidentally been tossed in the bin.

Is there a website or database I can visit with my old tracking number? I tried logging into the VFS website, though it seems my account was deleted due to inactivity.

I’m planning on just following the requirements again when I reapply.

If my memory serves me correctly, the reasons may have been:

  1. Wrong type of insurance (I was recommended a travel insurance by one of the VFS agents which happened to be unacceptable / “wrong type of insurance”)

  2. Not enough proof of funds (this was very vague, it didn’t tell me exactly what I needed. I gave everything they asked for, so I’m assuming they may have needed a minimum in the checking account I gave. (I gave bank statements from past 3 months as of 2024, letter stating that I get VA disability pay (no pension certificate available), along with other documents from Va.gov

That’s what I remember the reasons being, though I’m not entirely sure. I had plenty of funds and I followed all requirements to the point that the agent checking my documents told me that everything was good, and they had no doubt that I would get it.

Now it’s 2026 and I’m going to try again, it would just be so helpful if I could just know the reasons.

Or it could be helpful to maybe find a list of possible reasons that they would refuse someone for so that I can look at them and see if I remember what it said. (It was in French, so I’ll have to find a French translation..)

Is there a timeframe to wait before taking action on a purchase? (If it doesn’t ship for a while, etc.)

Basically the title. I ordered a laptop part for my gf’s laptop about a week ago. I placed an order for a part and moved on with my day, forgetting about it.

I got curious about the order and checked the status, though it hasn’t shipped yet.

No worries, I can wait. I’m just curious if there’s like a timeframe I should wait before I start taking any action. Whether that’s contacting the seller, cancelling the order, marking at as not arrived, etc.

I also want to make it clear that I don’t want to be hasty with my decision, I’m just trying to find an appropriate amount of time to wait before I should start asking myself questions.

I know I’m not the only buyer, and sellers get busy, so I’d like to be considerate and a good customer.

Also here are some info on the product I purchased:
I’m ordering it to the Caribbean (Guadeloupe) and it’s coming from China.

It says that it arrives anywhere from June 24th to July 1st, but the mail can be a bit slow sometimes, but I’ll wait until then.

Again I’m not trying to be hasty, just curious about what you all would do.

Of the two soap options, which lasts longer for you, until fully depleted?

Scenario:
You have a bottle of liquid hand soap and a regular bar of soap.

The liquid hand soap has the same amount of soap a bar would, except that it’s in a liquid state, and inside of a container.

Another way of saying it is that the volume of soap between the two options are the same, it’s the same amount of soap.

So which typically lasts longer? Liquid hand soap from a soap dispenser / bottle, or a bar of soap?

Anywhere I can buy an HO Victus top cover? (Read Desc)

So recently my gf and I were cleaning our laptops (I have a Nitro AN15-55) and my gf’s top cover had some broken plastic that would attach to some metal (the part that opens and closes the laptop), to where it pried open part of the bottom.

I dug into the laptop to get to the cover, and realized I might just need a new whole top piece since the plastic itself broke.

So yeah, I’m trying to figure out where I can buy the top piece with the “V” logo.

Any ideas? I’m thinking EBay or Amazon, though I’m not entirely sure..

If you owned a game store and someone brought in a region locked game outside of your country, would you still take it? (Read Desc)

You own a game store and most of your games are from your country, along side region locked games such as PS2, Wii U, Game Cube, DS, games etc.

(Consoles gens such as PS4 and Xbox 1 and after, are not region locked).

Someone brings in a PS2 game that has a different region, so it’s region locked to most of the games that you own. Would you still make a trade/sale for it, or would you turn it away because none of the customers in your area would be able to play it, unless they had a console to the corresponding country it’s locked to. (Which is unlikely).

Do you still take the game or turn it away?

(You can take the game for whatever reason such as online orders, etc.)

Solo girl goes camping and barely survives a killer only to later go camping again but older, at the same spot

I’m trying to find a book where a girl, solo, goes camping when she’s younger and escapes a killer.

Years later she returns to the camping site where she was almost killed, and I don’t remember if she gets confronted by the killer again or not.

I don’t think she’s in a summer camp or anything.

I would appreciate any help in locating this book!

Why is someone so insistent on getting into my lottery account to the point of locking it??

So I recently had someone try and get into my Missouri Lottery account for whatever reason, though were unsuccessful due to not having the correct credentials.

This started around a month or so ago, and I just changed my password for good measure. I just received this email today, showing that my account has been locked?

Honestly I thought whoever it is might have just entered the wrong email by mistake, but seeing this.. something's off..

I haven't won ANY lotteries of any sort, so I have no idea why someone is trying to get into MY account.. and got me locked out.

P.S. could this be a phishing email? I'm heading to the actual website now, and I'll try and login, I'm just not sure.

It seems legit, but I won't click any links as this is a big suspicious.

Edit: The screenshot is from 3 hours ago, but I've had multiple login attempts since then. Does someone think I won something big.. or?

Are you able to order from Amazon right now? (Read description)

So this might be a weird question, but I’m trying to order from Amazon to Guadeloupe, and it seems that many if not all of the items/sellers aren’t able to deliver anymore.

I have a U.S. Amazon account, so I don’t use Amazon.fr but going off of Amazon’s International Shopping policy, they should be able to deliver.

I’m at most able to order only 3-5 items out of what seems like 500 on the site, though I don’t know.

Has anyone else had any issues like this, even if it’s not Amazon, but maybe eBay or another shopping site?

I’m not sure what it is, or if Amazon’s changing their policies or if the tariffs from the U.S. are affecting what’s being shipped from there.

P.S. I’ve ordered from Amazon in the past, and many of the items were able to be shipped, especially the international ones, but within the recent months I’ve barely seen anything that’s able to be shipped here.

Is there a way we can see ONLY items/sellers that ship to us?

I live in the Caribbean, and I have family in the U.S. who I go and visit from time to time.

It’s nice being able to get everyone gifts, but lately I haven’t been able to really order anything from Amazon either for myself or my loved ones.

I spent like 5 minutes scrolling through Amazon and all of the items, except for two available ones that weren’t even what I needed, were unavailable to be shipped to me.

Is there a way I can view only items that can be shipped to me so I don’t waste time looking for things I need to buy?

Pretty much it seems like I’m gonna have to order in the U.S. so far, but if there’s a website or some option/feature on Amazon that shows ONLY items that can actually get shipped to me, that would be great..

How can I make an invisible part cast a shadow?

So I what I'm trying to accomplish is get a base part to be invisible, maybe even fully transparent/invisible, yet still cast a shadow.

I'm not even sure if this is possible within roblox..

I've tried to do this using scripts such as having the part visible on the server, and having a local script set the part's transparency to 1, though it would cause the shadow to vanish.

I've tried different tutorials such as ones where players make a part half transparent and the shadow still shows for the full part, yet it only works for the half transparency, and not a fully transparent part. Any help on this, please?

One of the tutorials I tried was this, and it didn't work quite how I needed it to. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Are romance games with love interests allowed, and would you play one?

So I’ve been looking into this for a bit, and I’ve seen conflicting answers.

Around 2022 Roblox said that these types of games are “bannable”, however in 2023 they removed that line.

I’ve read that as far as 2026 goes, it’s permitted, though I haven’t seen any official documentation. Could someone point me in the right direction, please?

Also would you play these types of games if given the chance?

The romance would be only between the NPC and player, no romance between players.

Edit:

No this is not some Roblox girlfriend or AI thing, like seriously.. come on. The context is a visual novel. I didn’t think I needed to specify that as the question alone asks if romance in games in general is permitted.

How do you guys plan/manage your games or projects?

I’m mainly asking so other people can share what they do to get by with work, how they plan stuff and tackle challenges etc.

Like for me, if I know exactly what I’m gonna do, I light just hop in studio and start building it without a plan if it’s simple enough.

For more in-depth projects then I like to use note pad, planners, and text tools that help me organize stuff such as features I’m adding/implementing, etc.

I use a planner that allows you to add tags to different things such as “priority” tags, because I have ADHD I like to hop around and maybe even avoid stuff I don’t know how to do / what’s time consuming and I like doing the “fun stuff”. So this has helped me a lot with actually managing my projects.

Another thing I do that I actually learned from an older previous professor of mine was when we were developing mobile apps, we would use a notebook and write down what we want to do, and what our plan was. We would also draw the UI as an idea, even a place holder, and either make it or alter it with different features we’d like to add.

That’s just some of what I do / have done to manage projects, and I’m honestly still looking for more efficient solutions that work with me.

I don’t use AI for anything, and I never will. Even AI-Tools are a no-go for me. Just a personal preference.

Digital payments can really be anything as long as you can pay with it, here are some digital payment apps that could be used, but not limited to

Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, (general cards such as credit or debit) etc.

Edit:

Digital payments are really anything that’s not cash, anything that uses electronics such as chip readers, QR codes, etc. would be considered digital, and as long as it’s not cash that you’re paying with. Sorry for the confusion.
