American Greatly Expands First Class & Extra Legroom Seating On Narrow Body Fleet

American Greatly Expands First Class & Extra Legroom Seating On Narrow Body Fleet

It was buried fairly far down in the seatback entertainment post, so wanted to create a separate one here.

AA is adding more MCE and F to their narrowbody planes, this includes upping the 321neos to 24 seats, the new MAX 10s will get 24 seats and "American will also refresh the interiors of virtually all narrow body planes, including adding more storage, redesigned seats, and enhanced lighting". More MCE seats are coming as well.

The downside is that this is at least 2 years away apparently, AA is not scheduled to even begin rolling out the new cabins until late 2028, with completion in the 2030s.

Staying in Centro vs Zona Paseo Montejo?

Coming to Merida in early December for 4 nights and expect to be walking around and maybe one of the half day trips.

Currently looking at a hotel option near Calle 60 y 57 right in the middle of Centro, as well as a nicer hotel near the ADO stop in Paseo Montejo. If location didn't matter, I'd go with the Paseo Montejo option, but location can absolutely matter so wondering how much different the two locations are, even if they are (relatively) close.

(Not giving the hotel names as I'm looking for the pros and cons of staying in each of those areas rather than a debate for which hotel is better.)

Thanks!

Anyone ever bring a portable dehumidifier with them?

Going to Punta Cana in September and, shock of shock, the resort reviews have mixed messages about rooms being damp. I've done Damp Rid before and felt that it didn't really do too much - it got out some water, but after 5 nights it was like 100-150 ml.

I bought this from Walmart (I make no commission off this link) and wanted to get opinions from others - have you brought a compact dehumidifier down with you, and what was the result?

It is probably a bit small (20 sq m / 215 sq ft compared to 400ish sq ft for a typical resort room), but it was the size and weight that made the most sense to put into a rollaboard without taking up a third of the bag. Seems to work in my basement when I tested it for 24 hours, but wanted to see if others have brought a compact dehumidifier with them, and if so, did it make a difference?

Riu Palace Bavaro vs Royalton Chic for a social solo trip?

Going to DR for 4 nights in late September (yes, hurricane season) on a solo trip as a 30-something gay man. Looking for a social atmosphere with some partying at a resort with plenty of shade, decent drinks, passable food, and a great, shaded swim up bar. I don't care too much about feeling pampered here, this is more for fun than relaxation.

Royalton Chic is US$168/night and I'd also earn about 25,000 Marriott points. Diamond Club looks decent but too pricey at $120/night. I like that it's all adults-only, but it seems reservations for dinner are a pain to get? How is the party/social atmosphere there? It does look a little small, especially as I enjoy a nice morning walk.

Riu Palace Bavaro is $223/night for an Elite Club Swimout ($40/night more than base room), but earns minimal points. I like the Riu Parties in Cancun and heard Punta Cana's are even better. Food and drink both look a step up from Chic, and I generally enjoy Riu Palaces. Having 3 large resorts to explore also sounds up my alley.

I looked at Breathless, but the price was over $100/night more for a base room vs the Elite room at Riu, and a 6 day cxl policy vs 2-3, making it harder to cancel if a hurricane looks likely.

Any recommendations on which to go with? It seems like Riu is probably the better option, but is it worth spending an extra $200 and giving up 25k Marriott points (probably worth $150ish) over Chic? Anything Chic has over Riu that I should consider as well?

Potential for upgrade on mixed cabin Polaris award with empty F on domestic flight?

I have a UA miles award flight from BRU to the US next week, the TATL segment is Polaris and the hour-ish domestic segment in Y. No status but have the UA biz card. Domestic F has 1 of 12 seats taken, 9 for sale, and 7 people total in the Y+ and preferred seats.

I'm seeing mixed results online for if I could get upgraded on the domestic segment. Not going to spend hours trying to do it as it's a very short flight and the 175 is comfortable enough in Y, but wondering if there is a chance and if so, is there an agent I should ask (e.g. at check-in in BRU, Polaris lounge at connection, at the domestic gate, etc). Not worth the $150 upgrade price and not worth spending half the day trying to get it, but if there was somewhere to check, wouldn't mind that.

Best outdoor restaurants/bars/cafes?

My boyfriend and I are coming to Antwerpen next week for 3 nights and, assuming the heatwave calms down by then, we would love some recommendations on nice outdoor restaurant/bar/cafes.

Ideally, somewhere that is decently away from motor vehicle traffic (small side street is fine, but not on main roads) and has plenty of shade (greenery preferred but umbrellas and such welcome as well). Whether it is enjoying a morning coffee, having a nice lunch or dinner, or just lingering over a glass of cava, I'm generally open to it as long as it is relatively casual (not looking for Michelin-star fine dining here). People watching is a plus, but cute gardens in the back are always enjoyable.

We'll be near Central Station but open to traveling by bike or public transit as well.

I really hope this is something lost in translation, but the multiple issues here makes me think it isn't...

For an airport lounge in Europe

Frontier FA announcement: "It's time for your favorite part of the flight..."

"...No, we're not landing, I'm about to sell you a credit card."

I appreciated the humor of it, even if it was the prelude to the credit card spiel

MEX Terminal 1 Centurion Lounges

I think it's the only airport terminal with 3 separate Centurion Lounges. I see there is a domestic, international, and one with no moniker - is that the one that was outside security last time I flew through about 4 years ago?

Flying on Volaris to PVR this weekend, coming from an AM flight so I have to go through security again regardless and have a few hours to kill. Should I go straight to the domestic one, or is the third one also 1) accessible and 2) any better/worse?

https://imgur.com/a/sStvvuR - menus of the new options at PHL and IAH

Looks like Terlato Wines is out, a new sommelier is in, and they have new wine lists per location - one menu is PHL and one is IAH. I've had 2 at each place and they are solid - feels like a solid upgrade in quality over Terlato (subjective, obviously).

I like that they now have a couple more wines in total (14 on each list vs 11-12 before), there are some more interesting varietals than what felt like very standard options, and they are expanding the sparkling beyond prosecco! (The French sparkler at IAH is way better than the Julianna or Riondo they used to have)
