He's the one who send the letter, then he spends months lying to Mercedes about Edmond, next he betrays Ali Pasha, and sold Haydee and lastly Mercedes was clearly forced to marry him, because if she dosen't do that, he would be starving to death.
I bought collection of stories by Chandler for Christmas, and in this big book there's a story called "Finger Man" in which Marlowe appears. I always thought Marlowe was made up for the novels and the protagonists of the stories, are sort of pototype of him, given the fact, that Chandler "Cannibalised" his stories, for the novels. I thought, that he just puts in Marlowe in pre-existing stories, that he "Glued" togheter.
Why in the movie based on "The Big Sleep", they cut out porno bookstore plot line? I get it, censorship. Sure, if they SHOW anything pornographic, I get that. But they could just gather some "Normal" books and just pretend they have some sleazy stuff in it. They don't have to show anything.

You may be asking "What about Quasimodo?", and would be (Kinda), right. But to me Quasimodo does not love Esmeralda in a "Normal" way either. Rather he thinks of her, like of an angel, or someone like that. I understand from where this love comes from, after she gave him water, She was the only person besides Frollo who gave him some sympathy. Like in the Disney movie, he treats her, like a saint, and not a woman. Best example: When Esmeralda pets Djali, and humming song he literally goes on his knees, and begs her to not interrupt the song. Also his hands were in "praying position" (Sorry, I don't konw how to call that). It's unhealthy to me.
I know that he's supposed to be an antagonist but I read him more like a comic relief. I mean, He is such an idiot, that's kinda unbelievable. :D Best example? He let some creepy guy to watch him having one-night stand with the girl for money, so he can rent a room to have sex in. :D
Why Esmeralda after Frollo's long monologue, said something like: "Look Father! There's blood under your fingernails!" Does it's come from shock, after he finds out that her stalker is a priest? It dosen't add up to me.
I think so, I just don't know what he does exactly. But on the other hand, his friend who works for the villian likes him, so it can't be anything too serious. But this Mikey guy was a shady character. So, what's the deal with Axel Foley's past? And Mikey eventually got the job as a security guard, thanks to Jenny Summers.
Maybe that's obvious, but what's the difference between Jessica's and Ken's role on the station? Of course i know what "Music Director" means, but does that mean that Ken's job is hiring people,and taking care of the station, from technical angle (Bills, repairs etc.)?

I heard a theory that he's the most important character in the first movie. And that's beacuse he does three things: 1) He really help Shrek to open up to others 2) He's the one who knew about Fiona's secret, and he also talks to her, about telling Shrek the truth and 3) He helps out Shrek to get to the wedding on time, after he assure's him, that Fiona wasn't talking about him, when she talks about "Monster".
Maybe it's my imppresion but Fiona in her ogress form is preetier than her human one. And I think that was intenional move from the writers. As a human, Fiona displays many "Non-Princessy" behaviors, but at first she felt compelled to pretend in front of Shrek and Donkey many stereotypes. She talks, like she was taken from Arthrian legend, she behaves like a "Lady". But later, when she begins to warms up to Shrek, and eventually falls in love with him, this mask could finally crack. At the end of the film, she can be herself.

I mean yeah, he kills random people, and he's cruel, but at the same time, when one of his guards, kills don Diego's wife he kills him, and we clearly see that he's devastated by this. Near the end of the movie, when Captain Love wants to shoot Elena, he instinctively attacks him. It would be easy, to make him one-note bad guy, but they don't do that. :)

I'm a big fan of Chandler's works, but now I wanna read anthoer classic author. I read "The Maltese Falcon", but it was long ago and i forgot Hammet's style.
I vote for original Frank, beacuse even though he's clearly an alcoholic, and a bum, I think that deep inside he loves his kids. Of coure, that dosen't mean his a great guy, far from it. But when You compared his beahavior with US Frank? He make Carl belive that he (Carl), has cancer, He destroy's Fiona's Wedding, insults her... In other words, UK Frank is kind of "Drunk Philosopher" (With all his interal monolouges), and lazy man, but when I watch original Shameless, I have some sympathy for him. For Macy's Frank not one bit. But he IS funny, I'll give him that. :) Also, William H. Macy is a great actor.
For Example: "Hunchback of Notre Dame", or "Fox And the Hound"? I recently bought the latter on my Kindle, and this book is so realistic in portraying hunting, and life of the hunters.
