First time mom- labour/delivery at Windsor Hospital

Hi everyone! I’m a first-time mom due in January and will most likely be delivering at Windsor Regional Hospital. I’m starting to prepare for labour, delivery, and postpartum, and I’d love to hear from parents who have delivered there recently.

I know every birth is different, but hearing actual experiences from Windsor parents would really help me know what to expect and what to pack.

A few things I’m curious about:
Labour & delivery
Overall, how was your experience with the L&D nurses and doctors?
Did you feel supported and listened to regarding your birth preferences?
How busy was the unit when you delivered?
Were you able to get an epidural when you wanted one? Was there much of a wait for the anesthesiologist?
Did anyone use nitrous oxide/laughing gas before getting an epidural? Was it readily available?
Were you able to move around, use different labour positions, a birthing ball, shower, tub, etc.?
If you wanted delayed cord clamping or immediate skin-to-skin, was that respected?
Did you feel like staff explained things and asked for consent before interventions?
If you ended up needing an induction or C-section, what was that experience like?

After delivery/postpartum
How long did you stay after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery?
What was postpartum care like?
How often did nurses come in to check on you and baby?
Did you get much help with breastfeeding/latching?
Was a lactation consultant available?
Did the nurses help show you things like diaper changes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, etc., especially if you were a first-time parent?
How was pain management after delivery?
How were the rooms and bathrooms?

Private rooms
Did you request a private room?
When did you make the request?
Were you actually able to get one, or are they difficult to get depending on how busy the hospital is?
If you had one, was it worth it?
Was your partner/support person able to stay overnight comfortably?

What does the hospital actually provide?
This is probably my biggest question! What was provided for mom and baby, and what did you wish you had brought yourself?

Hospital bag
What did you actually pack and USE?

Thank you so much! 🤍

First-time mom planning ahead — what did you actually wear postpartum at home while nursing? 🤍

Hi everyone! I’m currently 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I’m definitely a planner. 😂

I know I have lots of time, but thinking through the postpartum period ahead of time helps calm some of my nerves.

Assuming I have a vaginal delivery and I’m able to breastfeed, I’m trying to figure out what I’ll realistically want to wear around the house during those first few weeks. I’m someone who generally likes to feel covered and put together, even when I’m just at home. I don’t think I’d be comfortable walking around in only a nursing bra and postpartum underwear/diaper all day, but I also don’t want to make nursing unnecessarily complicated.

My current thought is something like:
Frida Mom disposable underwear/diaper underneath
Loose, soft pants or pajama bottoms
Nursing bra
A robe or button-front pajama top

But then I wonder if pants are annoying when you’re recovering from a vaginal birth, bleeding, changing pads frequently, etc. Would a long robe or nightgown with the Frida diaper underneath be more comfortable for the first few days?

For those who breastfed/nursed, what did you actually live in at home?
I’d especially love to know:
What was most comfortable immediately after coming home from the hospital?
Did you prefer robes, nightgowns, pajama sets, or loose pants?
Were nursing-specific tops actually worth buying?
Did you wear a nursing bra around the house, or was something else more comfortable?
What nursing bras would you recommend?
Any specific nursing tops, pajamas, robes, or brands you absolutely loved?
How many postpartum outfits/robes/pajama sets would you recommend having?
Did you find yourself changing clothes frequently because of leaking milk, bleeding, baby spit-up, night sweats, etc.?
Is there anything you bought for postpartum clothing that you thought you’d love but ended up never wearing?

Basically, I want maximum comfort and coverage while still being able to get my breast out easily when baby needs to nurse — especially during those middle-of-the-night feeds.

I’m a new mom and, if I’m being completely transparent, I’m a little nervous and anxious about the postpartum period because I have no idea what to expect. I know I can’t plan for everything, but having a comfortable little postpartum wardrobe ready would make me feel much more prepared.
I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for you, especially from moms who also preferred to stay fairly covered at home. 🤍
Thank you!! 🥹

First-Time Mom in Ontario Due in January — What Were Your Absolute Must-Haves and Biggest Regrets?

First-time mom in Ontario, Canada here! 👋🏼
I’m due with a January baby (mid-to-late January), and I’m starting to build my registry now so I can spread out purchases over the next few months.

I know this question gets asked a lot, but I’d love to hear from parents who have actually used the products.

What were your absolute MUST-HAVES? The items you couldn’t have survived without and would buy again in a heartbeat.

On the flip side…

  1. What ended up being a complete waste of money?
  2. What do you wish you’d skipped?
  3. What “viral” products totally disappointed you?
  4. Any hidden gems that no one talks about?

I’m open to recommendations for literally everything:
Sleep
Feeding (breastfeeding, pumping, formula)
Stroller/car seat
Baby carrier
Diapering
Bath time
Postpartum essentials for mom
Nursery
Winter baby must-haves
Registry hacks

Bonus points if you’re also in Ontario/Canada, since some brands and products are easier to find here.
Pretend you’re making a registry for your best friend—what are the first 10 things you’re adding?
Thanks so much! I’m excited (and a little overwhelmed 😅), so I’d love to learn from parents who’ve already been through it.

Any prenatal or pregnancy groups?

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m expecting my first baby and was wondering if there are any prenatal classes, pregnancy groups, or meetups in the Windsor area where I can learn more and connect with other moms-to-be.
I’m looking for something that’s more than just educational—I’d love the chance to meet other expecting moms who are due around the same time, make some new friends, and share this journey together.
If you’ve attended any classes or know of any local groups (through the hospital, midwives, community centres, Facebook, etc.), I’d really appreciate your recommendations!
Thanks so much! 💕

First OB- Dr Joshua Polsky

Hi everyone!
I’m expecting my first baby and I have my very first OB appointment coming up with Dr. Joshua Polsky. I’ll be 15 weeks by the time I see him, and I’m not really sure what to expect.
For anyone who’s seen Dr. Polsky (or had an OB appointment around 15 weeks), I’d love to hear your experience!
A few things I’m wondering:
Do they usually do an ultrasound at the appointment, or is it just listening to the heartbeat with a Doppler?
How long are first OB appointments?
What kinds of questions should I be asking that first-time moms don’t think about?
Does he go over the anatomy scan, genetic testing, birth plans, hospital information, etc. this early?
Is there anything you wish you’d asked at your first appointment?
I’d also love to hear your overall experience with Dr. Polsky—his bedside manner, whether he takes his time, if he’s easy to reach with questions, or anything else you’d want a first-time mom to know.
I’m excited but definitely a little nervous, so any advice or stories would be really appreciated. 😊

Is it just me? Why do I look more than 5 months

Hi everyone,
I’m 30 years old, 5’3”, and currently pregnant with a due date of Feb 3. This is my first baby and this photo was taken at 8:15pm after dinner
Before pregnancy I was 123 lbs, and I’m now around 129 lbs. I also have a history of being around 200 lbs in the past, so I’m very conscious about weight changes and trying to stay within a healthy range .
I’m trying to figure out if what I’m seeing right now is normal early pregnancy changes or if I’m actually overeating. I don’t feel like my diet has changed dramatically, but I do feel hungry more often.
Symptoms I’ve had so far:
No major nausea
Mostly fatigue
A lot of gas and bloating
Constipation (this has been pretty consistent)
Because of the bloating/constipation, I can’t tell if the weight gain is “real” or just water + digestion issues.
I’m also a bit anxious about exceeding the recommended pregnancy weight gain range for my frame (about 25–35 lbs total), and I want to stay healthy without restricting too much.
Has anyone else experienced early pregnancy weight changes that were mostly constipation/bloating rather than actual fat gain? Did it even out later?
Any advice or reassurance would be appreciated.

AIO for wanting to leave and spend my second trimester away from my husband?

I’m 30F, currently 6 weeks 4 days pregnant with my first baby.
My husband is Canadian/American and, for residency/tax reasons, needs to spend about 185 days in the U.S. this year. Because I’m Canadian, I can’t simply stay in the U.S. with him for that long.
Right now we’re staying with his cousin, who has been incredibly generous. She has two extra bedrooms, an office for my husband to work from, and a private bathroom attached to our room. She’s also pregnant herself (due August 14) and has a toddler.
The original plan was that I would help her out during her third trimester, but honestly, I’m struggling just to get through my own first trimester. The nausea, exhaustion, food aversions, and general lack of energy have hit me harder than I expected.
I’m finding myself increasingly unhappy living here. A few examples:
My husband doesn’t really show physical affection toward me in their house, which leaves me feeling unwanted and disconnected.
As soon as I’m awake, he often encourages me to shower and come downstairs, even when I feel exhausted and just want to rest.
If people are visiting, I feel like there’s an expectation that I socialize, even when I’m drained.
I can’t eat most of what everyone else is eating because of my pregnancy aversions.
I feel guilty because I haven’t been much help around the house despite that being part of the original plan.
I’ve tried talking to my husband about these things, but I don’t feel like much has changed.
The bigger issue is that we’re approaching the point where we’ll likely have to spend some time apart because of the residency situation. Being away from my husband while pregnant is not ideal. However, I’m starting to feel like I’d rather be alone in Canada than continue living in a situation where I’m uncomfortable and constantly overwhelmed.
To add another layer, my husband also has parents nearby, but he doesn’t want to stay with them because he’d have to sleep and work in the same room.
Part of me wonders if this is just hormones, first-trimester misery, and being overly emotional. Another part of me feels like my concerns are legitimate and that my comfort and well-being during pregnancy matter too.
Am I overreacting here? Would you stay and try to make it work, or would you go back home and prioritize your own comfort, even if it meant spending part of your pregnancy apart from your spouse?

Moms of Lululemon🤰🏻 What Sizes Did You Wear Before, During, and After Pregnancy?

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some advice from fellow Lululemon lovers who have been through pregnancy.
I’m 30 years old, 5’3”, currently 123 lbs, and 6 weeks + 4 days pregnant with my first baby. Before pregnancy, I typically wore a size 4 in most Lululemon bottoms and a size 6 when I wanted a more relaxed fit.
My wardrobe is almost entirely Lululemon, and I’d rather invest in pieces that can grow with me throughout pregnancy and still work postpartum.
I’d love to hear:
• Your height and pre-pregnancy weight
• Your usual Lululemon size before pregnancy
• What size you wore during your second and third trimesters
• Whether you stayed in your normal Align size or sized up
• Which pieces lasted the longest throughout pregnancy
• Which items were worth buying and which weren’t
I’m especially interested in experiences with:
Align leggings
Align shorts
Align tanks
Hold Tight tops
Define jackets
Scuba oversized styles
I’m trying to figure out whether I should continue buying size 4s, switch to 6s, or start purchasing a few items in size 8 for later pregnancy.
Any advice, size progression stories, or favorite pregnancy-friendly Lululemon pieces would be hugely appreciated!
Thank you! 💕🩵
For reference: 5’3”, 123 lbs, first pregnancy, currently 6 weeks + 4 days along.

Reposting with an update: moving in with husbands cousin

30F here, husband is 35M. Reposting with an update because my situation has changed a bit and I’d love some outside perspectives.

I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant with our first baby.

My husband is very close with his 35F cousin. She’s married, a SAHM, has a 2-year-old toddler, and is pregnant with baby #2 due in August.

We temporarily need somewhere to stay for about 3 months, and she very generously offered us space in her home. She has a very large house with two extra bedrooms and said she could actually use the support while pregnant and juggling a toddler.

I’m genuinely very appreciative because staying somewhere rent-free for a few months would be a huge help. I’m also naturally a helper type — I’d be completely comfortable helping with her toddler, doing light housework, and cooking. She doesn’t really enjoy cooking and I love it, so contributing to the household feels fair to me.

The part making me uneasy is my mother-in-law warning me that I’ll end up being “treated like a maid” there.

I don’t mind helping at all, but I also don’t want to slowly slide into becoming full-time childcare and house staff without realizing it. I’m trying to figure out where the line is between being appreciative and contributing versus accidentally creating expectations that become too much.

The other factor is that if I choose not to stay there and instead go back to my own city, I’ll be away from my husband during weeks 9, 11, 12, and 13 of my pregnancy, and likely for most or all of August. Since this is our first baby, I’m struggling with whether it’s worth spending part of my first trimester apart from him.

She doesn’t know I’m pregnant and has made comments about how many cookies I ate one day or the fact that I had a wrap and a salad yesterday for lunch

I’d especially love to hear from people who have either lived with family while pregnant or spent part of their pregnancy apart from their spouse.

Delayed cord clamping? Wiping?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I’ve been spending a lot of time reading about labor, delivery, and all the decisions that come with it.

One thing I’ve come across is delayed cord clamping versus immediate cord clamping, and I’ve also seen discussions about whether babies are wiped off right away after birth or left with some of the vernix on their skin.

For those of you who have already had children:

• Did you choose delayed cord clamping? If so, how long did you wait and why did you choose it?

• Did your baby get wiped off immediately after birth, or did you leave the vernix on for a while? What was your reasoning?

• Looking back, would you make the same choices again?

As someone who is completely new to all of this, I’d love to hear your experiences, what influenced your decisions, and anything you wish you had known beforehand.

Thanks for helping a first-time mom learn!

Anyone else struggle to believe this is real?

Hi everyone,

I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I’m finding the waiting period before the first ultrasound so much harder than I expected.

Some days I feel very pregnant ..I’m gaggy, starving all the time, exhausted beyond belief, and constantly thinking about food. Then days like today come along and I feel almost completely normal, which immediately sends me spiraling and wondering if everything is okay.

I find myself checking every time I go to the bathroom and wiping way more than necessary just to make sure there’s no spotting. I’m also worrying about things I can’t control yet, like whether the pregnancy implanted in the right place, whether there will be a heartbeat at 8 weeks, and whether everything is developing as it should.

How did you get through those first few weeks when you had no ultrasound, no visible bump, and no reassurance other than a positive test?

Did anyone else have symptoms that came and went this early?

I’d love to hear how you managed the anxiety and uncertainty between finding out you were pregnant and seeing your baby for the first time. ❤️

Signed, a very excited but very nervous first-time mom 🥹💕

What are you eating?

Hi everyone,
I’m 5.5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I am SO hungry all the time. The problem is that I’ve suddenly developed a major aversion to meat. The thought of chicken, beef, or pretty much any meat makes me feel gross, and it’s making meal planning difficult.
I’m also starting to worry that I’m not eating healthy enough for the baby. Right now I’m mostly reaching for whatever sounds tolerable, and some days that doesn’t feel very balanced.
For those of you who had food aversions early in pregnancy:
What were you eating around 5–6 weeks?
How did you get enough protein if meat sounded awful?
Were there any easy meals or snacks that became your go-to?
Did you worry about eating “perfectly” healthy in the first trimester? I’m eating out most days (my husband and I travel quite a bit to visit our family 3+ hour drives frequently)
I’d love to hear what’s on everyone’s menu these days because I need some inspiration!
Thank you 💕

maternity clothes

Hi everyone! I’m newly pregnant and already thinking ahead a bit about what I’ll realistically want to wear once my body starts changing.
My style has always been very athleisure-focused — I basically live in Lululemon and Alo. Pre-pregnancy I was usually a size 4/6 in Lululemon.
I recently came across the maternity shirts from SKIMS and loved the fitted, clean look, but almost everything I wanted is sold out right now.
For those who also had more of an athleisure/minimal style during pregnancy:
What brands did you actually love?
Any good alternatives to the SKIMS maternity basics?
Did you size up in regular clothes for a while or switch straight to maternity?
Any specific leggings, tanks, fitted tees, or matching sets that held up well throughout pregnancy?
I’d love recommendations that still feel cute, elevated, and comfortable — not overly frumpy or super traditional maternity wear 😅

OB? Just found out I’m pregnant

Hi everyone, I’m new to the Windsor area. I just found out I’m pregnant (very early — about 4 weeks) and I’m feeling a little lost on what the next steps are here.

What do I do now? Who should I contact first for prenatal care? Do I need to find a family doctor, walk-in clinic, midwife, or OB? Also, who would provide a referral for a dating ultrasound this early?

Would really appreciate any advice on how the process works in Windsor or recommendations for getting started. Thank you!

First positive today ❤️😍

After 6 months TTC, I just got my first positive today 🥹

I have PCOS, but my cycles are pretty regular (26 days apart). My last period started April 29 and my next one was due May 26, so I tested a little early and got a positive this morning.

I’m honestly in shock and don’t even know what I’m supposed to do next 😅 I’m in Ontario, Canada — do I book with my family doctor first? Midwife? OB? When do blood tests/ultrasounds usually happen here?

Would also love to hear from anyone else with PCOS who had regular cycles and early positives. Trying to stay excited while also calming my anxiety lol

Wow- my life is about to change

New releases

With the 5/27 drop coming up, I’m curious how everyone here actually shops Coach releases 👀

Do you genuinely fall in love with pieces before buying… or do you think seeing the bags constantly on TikTok/Instagram starts influencing you more than you realize?

I’ve noticed sometimes I’ll be “meh” about a bag at first, then after seeing 50 videos of it styled a certain way, suddenly I’m considering it 😂

A few questions for the community:

  1. Do you buy from every drop, or only certain collections?
  2. Have you ever bought a bag because of hype/social media and regretted it later?
  3. What’s your personal spending limit where you still feel comfortable buying a bag guilt-free?
  4. Do you save up specifically for drops like this, or impulse buy if something catches your eye?

I’m really interested in how everyone balances loving the brand vs. getting caught up in the excitement/FOMO around releases.

And most importantly… what’s everyone eyeing from 5/29? 👀

Coach Mott 33 Black 🖤

Okay Coach friends… convince me about the Coach Mott 33 in black 🖤

I keep going back to this bag and I need opinions from people who actually own/style it!

A few questions:
• Can it comfortably be worn as a shoulder bag, or does it sit awkwardly?
• How are you styling it for everyday wear?
• Does the size feel overwhelming on a smaller frame?

For reference, I’m 5’3 and around 120 lbs, so I’m worried the 33 might look huge on me 😭

Would LOVE to see mod shots if anyone has them + hear the pros/cons before I fully enable myself 😂
