Kolkata to become district. What changes?

Not sure what will change. Perhaps, some nearby localities will come under the fold.

Thinking of quitting Heritage after Class 10, to prepare for IITJEE

I am in Class 10, Heritage school. I am serious about JEE. If I continue at Heritage for Class 11-12, then I think I won't get sufficient time to prepare for JEE.

  1. Would you advise switching schools?

  2. Also, looking for opinions on tuitions - online / offline, which coaching? Any specific teacher?

Thank you 🙏✨

Suhrawardy Avenue renamed after Gopal Mukherjee

The road was named after Hassan Suhrawardy, who was the maternal uncle of Huseyn Suhrawardy, the Butcher of Bengal.

Today onwards, the road will remind the people of Gopal Mukherjee, aka Gopal Patha, who mobilized retaliatory force after the Great Calcutta Killing, aka Direct Action Day.

Good times coming

  1. FIIs bought 4859 cr worth of Indian equity yesterday (19 June). This metric was last exceeded in Feb.

  2. Iran deal seems to be holding well, and progressing on desired lines. Hezbollah is coming along too. This is good news.

Conclusion: There is a clear change in the market under-currents.

Edit: Soon after the post, fresh Israel-Hezbollah strifes happened, WHICH CHANGES THE SITUATION SUBSTANTIALLY.

June going exceedingly well; will likely get even better

The month so far - I had posted before that June will be a good month - https://www.reddit.com/r/indiaStockMarket/s/iLye6etsU8

Indeed June is turning out to the month when the Iran war finally turned a corner. Crude remains under $80 without exhibiting volatility. This is quite positive for Indian markets.

Going forward, my view is that the market has not fully accounted for the implications of the conclusion of Iran deal. I see no major trigger for downside move. Hence, I will maintain long positions. So far, this month has gone exceedingly well. As of yesterday close, the P&L of open trades stands above 71 lakh, intra-day it went close to 74 lakh.

Coming to today - Despite Gift Nifty falling last night, rupee has appreciated this morning. Also, Brent crude has fallen a tiny bit more. So I think Indian market will be positive today (Gift Nifty will be proven wrong)

Inviting thoughts from community folks, especially counter arguments. Cheers brethren!

Crude falls another 5% | Big positivr for oil sensitive stocks such

Sourced from Moneycontrol app at 11pm on 16 June 2026.

After the Iran deal announcement, crude price fell and then paused. This sharp resumption of fall is a big positive for Indian equity in general, and for oil-sensitive stocks in particular.

I am long Indigo.

Cheers!

Iran deal finally done 🤝

I think the market hasn't fully accounted for the impact of the conclusion of the deal. So I think there is good upside to be captured in the near future. What are your thoughts?

Awesome pan in Salt Lake

Kolkata has some amazing pan joints.

Visited this shop the first time. It's located next to Tank No.2 in Salt Lake

Large spread, premium quality, yet old town feel. Loved the "gundi" pan.

Note: Posted with permission.

Got any suggestions for good pan joints? Please share ✨

Not sure if we can trust our fav biriyani anymore

Brethren, we are doomed. I spotted this on a restaurant's kitchen shelf. The owner’s defense? “Every restaurant uses artificial flavours in its biryani.”

Responsible porn

The porn industry is often harmful to many of the people involved.

For that reason, I have decided to stop consuming pornography involving real people and limit myself to:

  • AI-generated porn
  • Cartoon porn

At a minimum, I encourage everyone to stop watching—and, where possible, report—any porn that:

  • Involves children
  • Involves animals
  • Appears to feature trafficked individuals
  • Appears to involve coercion, or a lack of consent from any participant

Taught a lesson to a date scammer

I am new to the online dating scene. I matched up with a woman on Tinder. Soon after the introduction, she asked if I were free to meet up with her, the same day. I said I could go out. Then she asked my number. I gave. Immediately, she unmatched. It seemed weird but I didn't dwell on it. I tried to continue small talk. Things got weirder. She didn't seem keen to know me, and offered curt replies to my questions about her, preferring to meet instead. Then I enquired where she lives. Turns out her place is not far from mine. Immediately after, she suggested that we meet at a restaurant, that is located far away from both our places. I argued that we live close by so we could meet up somewhere near our respective places. She wasn't keen. Now I grew suspicious. Why a specific restaurant located far away? It didn't make any rational sense. I was beginning to wonder if she was trying to pull off some scam on me.

Does she have some commission arrangement with that particular restaurant to bring men on dates? Googled and found that such scams are indeed common. Young women enter into commission arrangements with venues.

Now I wanted to probe further. So I suggested some other nice cafes and pressed a little. She didn't budge, insisting on that specific venue. Now, I was sure of her ploy and decided to teach her a lesson by playing along, only to eventually stand her up.

I asked her to meet at 6:30pm, she agreed, but then she kept delaying. Around 7pm, she finally said she is starting from home and that she would take Uber. I offered to pick her up coz I would be driving. She refused. Anyway, I was only playing along; not that I was actually going to the venue. After some time, I asked her for Uber screenshot. She didn't comply, she sent a google maps link to the venue. I clarified that I wanted Uber app screenshot; she ignored it. Then she called me on WhatsApp to confirm that I was already on my way. I quickly stepped out of home to make her hear street noises and reassured her that I was going to reach soon. After that, I muted her chat notifications, and started to ignore her messages. Later at night I checked her chat window, she had apparently reached the venue around 8:20pm, and was annoyed at me [grin].

So guys - here's their modus operandi:

  • Quick meetup request
  • Insist on a specific location
  • Fake small talk
  • Expensive order
  • Collect commission

Teach them a lesson by playing along and standing them up.

Edit: This happened in Thailand

Taught a lesson to a date scammer

I returned to India not long ago and I am new in the dating scene here. So yesterday I matched up with a woman on Tinder. Soon after the introduction, she asked if I were free to meet up with her, the same day. I said I could go out. I tried to continue small talk. She however didn't seem keen to know me, and offered curt replies to my questions about her, preferring to meet instead. It sounded weird. Then I enquired where she lives. She said near Baguiati. Immediately after, she suggested that we meet at a restaurant near Central Metro station. I told her I live in Salt Lake and we could meet up somewhere closer to our respective places, perhaps New Town, VIP Road, or Salt Lake. She wasn't keen. I grew suspicious. Why a specific restaurant near Central Metro when we both live in the North? It didn't make any rational sense. I was beginning to wonder if she was trying to pull off some scam on me.

Does she have some commission arrangement with the venue to bring people over on dates? Googled and found that such scams are actually common. Young women enter into commission arrangements with venues.

By now, I was sure of her ploy and decided to teach her a lesson by playing along, only to eventually stand her up.

I asked her to meet at 6:30pm; she agreed, but then she kept delaying. Around 7pm, she finally said she is starting from home and that she would take Uber. I offered to pick her up from Ultodanga coz I would be driving. She refused. I strongly suspect she was coming by public transport and was trying to build a false air around herself. Anyway, I was obviously at home, with no plans to go to the venue. After some time, I asked her how long she would take, she said 30 mins. I asked her to send a screenshot of Uber. She didn't comply, she sent a google maps link to the venue. I clarified that I want her to share a screenshot of Uber app. She ignored my message and called me on WhatsApp. She wanted to confirm that I was already on my way. I quickly stepped out of home to make her hear street noises and reassured her that I was going to reach soon. Thereafter I muted her chat notifications, and ignored her messages / calls. Later at night I checked her chat window, she had apparently reached the venue around 8:20pm. And was obviously annoyed with me, much to my satisfaction [grin].

So guys - here's their modus operandi:

* Quick meetup request

* Insist on a specific location

* Fake small talk

* Expensive order

* Collect commission

Himsagar vs Alphonso: What's your pick?

My vote goes to Himsagar.. without an iota of doubt. Have lived in Mumbai for 3 years and enjoyed Alphonso. But Himsagar is not replaceable, for me.

Great start to June; will likely get better over the next few weeks

P&L touched 14.5L during the day, closed at 10.77L.

Expecting even better performance over the next few weeks.

I am a seasoned trader by the way. I don't offer any services related to the stock market. But I am happy to offer free knowledge to the community when time permits

Is this the dumbest job in the world? 🤣

How can we still need a real human just to press a button? 🤣🤣 Not trying to make fun of the guy. But you gotta agree that it's indeed funny that such jobs still exist.
